When Marcy wakes the first time, all she can see is green. Not the deep green of life she’s seen everywhere in Amphibia. Not the vibrant, neon yellow-greens that she’s learned indicate poisonous plants and venomous creatures. A sickly, mottled kind of grey-green, the color of vomit and sea scum and rotting flesh.
She feels weightless, and although she can hear a few faint sounds they’re too distorted and muffled to identify. It's as if she’s underwater. She feels numb.
And then the pain hits.

For someone whose prophecy-assigned greatest strength is connecting to others, Anne certainly doesn't have many friends. Sure, she has the Plantars, but they're more like family. And sure she has Sasha and Marcy, but lately the word "friends" feels... off when it comes to them. Whatever the case, it's not easy for any of them to relate to other high schoolers after spending six months in another dimension together.
A party could be fun, right? (Spoiler: it's not. Or maybe it is, but for the wrong reasons.)

It was cold.
In any normal circumstance, that statement would've been deemed normal, average. It would've been brushed off, something would've been done to alter the fact. Perhaps the heat setting would be turned up in a room, or the individual would've been given a jacket. Maybe they would've been engulfed in an embrace, warm limbs wrapping around their frigid frame, their skin siphoning the heat from the other.
Except this wasn't a normal, typical circumstance.
Marcy stood, shaking, staring silently at the rocks that gracefully tumbled down the cliffside, at the dust that rose with every step she took nearer to the edge. Her breath caught in her throat, hitching when her foot collided with a horrifically placed rock and nearly sent her flying to her death.Series
