“Here!” Clay said, stopping at a good hill in the park. The sky was clear and the stars were bright, and it was the perfect place to sprawl out a blanket and stargaze for an hour. He turned to grin at Apollo. “I just wanna get some Apollo-time in before I blast off,” he laughed.
The brunette rolled his eyes, but he smiled back and finally settled down onto the blanket. Yeah, he couldn’t fight that. Being apart from Clay so long with no contact would be really unusual. He could go to the space center and ask to send messages up periodically, but it’s not the same as having his best friend show up to his apartment every day, having him practically living with him.

First, he left after chatting while Kaoru cleaned up the kitchen. Then he left after leaning against the doorframe and bickering with Kaoru while he started his long-ass skincare routine. Then he left after sitting on Kaoru’s bed and calling to him from the other room while his friend changed into nightwear. That was as far as they’d get. As soon as he was changed, Kojiro always took his cue to leave, bidding goodnight to Kaoru and receiving a snide remark or some insult.
And every single time, Kojiro smiled. And hell, Kaoru smiled back.
