Summary
After a career-ending injury, Harry is sought out by McGonagall to return to Hogwarts as a professor. Not having anything to tie him down, and looking forward to a fresh start, Harry accepts. He's expecting to settle right into the place he used to feel most at home, looking forward to seeing Teddy throughout the whole year instead of just on holidays, and most certainly looking forward to seeing who wins the quidditch cup. What he's not expecting, and what no one has bothered to warn him about, is that Draco Malfoy is also back to calling Hogwarts home. While unable to shake his natural state of being suspicious of Malfoy, he slowly starts to see that maybe it's possible for someone to change over the course of a decade. Whether he's willing to accept that or not is a different story.

Malik is a practical man that believes in what you can see and touch. While investigating a homicide he finds an unusual companion android with an even more unusual attitude problem. Despite what he thinks he knows to be true about the machines, he finds himself feeling sympathetic to the bucket of bolts. As tensions rise between the androids and humans, and the question of what is 'human' becomes more prevalent, Malik finds himself questioning it along with everyone else.

Malik resisted the urge to smile. Altair was not funny. He was not charming. He was an asshole. It occurred to Malik just then that he didn’t understand why Altair was sitting with him. Altair was being… considerate of all things. Kind. It didn’t make sense. None of this made sense. There was nothing in this for Altair. Nothing to be gained. And Altair did not do anything unless he would gain something from it. Maybe this was some kind of delusional fever dream.
“Why are you helping me?” He could resist his curiosity no longer.
“We’re brothers,” Altair replied, as if Malik was an idiot.

James flops onto the bed, sated and content. His bones all feel like jelly, and his chest is warm. He tilts his head to the side, beaming, and watches as Regulus stares dumbstruck at the ceiling.
“Yeah. Amazing, right?” James says.
Regulus blinks a few times before he finally looks over at him.
“That…. was fucking awful.”

“We’re not friends,” Regulus grumbles. James ignores him, snatching some fairy lights next and jumping onto the nearest chair, lifting the lights across the top window ledge, “Hey! You can’t just decorate my bakery!”
