There was a beat of silence, and then the little girl wrapped around the fucking former Crown Prince’s legs decided she was no longer going to act shy, and broke the tension with a loud, “WELCOME NEW NEIGHBOUR!!”
“Oh, thank you,” Simon rushed out, turning his attention to the girl because it was much easier than staring at the man she was with. The girl gave him a toothy grin, to which Simon noticed she was (adorably) missing some of her bottom teeth. He gave her a smile in response, and that seemed to give her the confidence to thrust a plastic tupperware containing star-shaped cookies at him. “What’s this?”
“Cookies, silly!” she explained, holding them higher as if he hadn’t noticed the contents yet.

Summary
Simon's life as a tour guide for the Museum of Fine Art is quite repetitive.
So when this art student named Wilhelm keeps coming back despite not having left Simon with the best first impression, and ends up staring at him for far longer than any of the artworks.
Simon can't pretend he isn't endeared.
The fact that the student looks beautiful enough to be one of the paintings is only a bonus.

Simon doesn’t hesitate to answer.
“Oh yeah, I wanted to marry him and everything. I had one of his posters on my bedroom wall for like a year when I was 15, right before I started high school. I took it down before I started Hillerska, but I’m sure it’s still in some box somewhere. His hair is so shiny, have you ever noticed?” He asks, as if he’s not just upended Wilhelm’s entire existence.
He knows he shouldn’t let this continue, Simon’s drugged out of his mind and doesn’t know what he’s saying and none of it might even be true, so he responds with “Simon, you know that I’m Prince Wilhelm, right?”
or: when Simon has to get one of his wisdom teeth removed, Wilhelm doesn't hesitate to offer his help. It definitely has nothing to do with the fact that he's been in love with Simon for years.

In an alternative universe where Wilhelm is still born in Stockholm but not anywhere near the palace gates, in a regular hospital room to a pretty regular set of parents and a pretty regular big brother, the Swedish monarchy is someone else’s responsibility to uphold and protect. Imagine his surprise when he wakes up one morning to texts from Henry implying he should maybe, just maybe, consider asking Simon why he’s dating Markus in the first place, because an apparently viral reddit post by someone sounding suspiciously like Simon published last night on r/AmItheAsshole seems to imply Simon’s been living under the assumption that Wilhelm is very, very straight for the last two years
