“My bad.” Her voice turned out soft but flat, like she wasn’t used to apologizing aloud. Roxie couldn’t be so sure if she apologized for the door or the boxes. Or the bags. But of course, Roxie grew too intrigued by the deep-blue color of her eyes to acknowledge that. “I’m really sorry about all the mess. Had a long trip to get here.”
Oh. Right. This was supposed to be her roommate.
Get a grip, you lesbian. Stop making eyes at the new girl, Roxie scolded herself, pinching the exposed flesh of her thigh to further wake herself up from a daze of admiration. I mean what the hell, she’s just gonna live with you for a while. She’s prolly got a boytoy back home or the college next door. Chill. Don’t. Make it weird.
Thankfully Roxie caught herself staring a beat (many, many beats) too long and sat up straighter to greet this new girl at last.
