    The Darkling has been captured by Jarl Brum and his vicious Druskelle. Ivan comes to the Little Palace, currently run by General Alina Starkov, and begs for her and Tsar Nikolai to rescue him. Alina readily agrees, refusing to leave a Grisha behind, or so she tells herself.
    Nikolai wants the Darkling so he can hang him himself.
    Facing harsh conditions and battling the Fjerdans at every step, will Alina rescue the Darkling just for him to be put to death? People's alliances are challenged as what's good for Ravka may not be good for Grisha.

    This is an AU but mostly complies with book lore rather than TV
