“It’s the primal shit that you just cannot hide. So go ahead,” he demands. “Say what you’re thinking.” He’s close enough to close his mouth over the kid’s neck but he doesn’t, he won’t, not until Guy confesses he wants it.
Guy can’t breathe. He can’t move and he can’t speak and he cannot admit that he’s undeniably turned on right now. He forces himself not to acknowledge it, but the arousal pools and lingers through the riptide of fear that washes over him in waves.

Armand swans in from the hallway, pausing where he sees Daniel stalled at the foot of his bed fresh from a shower, hair still damp and dripping at his shoulders.
“Your clothing for this evening.”
Clothes of all kinds fascinate Armand. When they go out at night, he always chooses what Daniel is to wear, often laying them out on the bed before he's even awake.

Flash, goes the camera in Daniel’s mind. The low lights in the bar catch on dark lenses of his glasses, reflecting back at him his own flushed face. He can’t see Armand’s eyes. Maybe that’s the point, hiding them away from the unsuspecting humans who all think he’s one of them.
A drink at the bar, a dance too close, the end of a chase, and the beginning of something far greater than either Daniel or Armand had prepared for.

Summary
Daniel allows himself to really take him in, now that the sharp edges of his mind have been sufficiently smoothed over with the hazy cloud of yes, finally, need, and want. The contrast of the purple dress on Armand’s brown skin is striking. Daniel’s good with words; hell, he’s made a whole career out of it, but right now the words are failing him. He’s no good at flowery language but god he’s half inspired to get up and write a poem right about now.
“Pretty,” he says instead. Armand laughs, light and airy, and shifts in his lap.
1985. After nearly a year apart, Armand returns to Daniel in the middle of the night, dressed in only a purple slip.

His hands pause with his bottom lip kissing against the rim of the glass. “How do you know that?”
The man beside him freezes unnaturally. Just for a moment, and then it’s shattered with a gentle smile, a breath of a laugh. Armand feels around for something in his pockets. “I know a lot of things about you, Daniel,” as he speaks, he places something small and white onto the bar, slides it across discreetly.
Daniel rests his hand over it, shielding the object from view, raises his thumb to investigate.
A small plastic bag, tied into a knot at the top. Fine dust of white sitting on the inside.
