Summary
When he gets home after that endless, endless day, he texts Sasha. He does not think about that thing he saw, Sasha’s face warped and stretched and crueller than he thought was possible, her limbs distended, moving with predatory speed. Or rather, he does, and he texts her, ignoring the fact that his last few texts, friendly rejoinders, have gone entirely unanswered.
He doesn’t know what to say. "Escaped from somewhere that might be hell, hope you’re okay. Btw did u run into some horrible twisted perversion of yourself? Please tell me it didn’t eat you xx". He settles on a "you alright?" and waits.

Summary
In retrospect they could only have met like this: the other hunter throws herself out of the shadows and plunges a dagger between the chimera’s ribs. The blade is silver, and she is careful not to let it touch her own skin, though this cautiousness is lost in the chaos. The other hunter stabs the chimera over and over. The first hunter, gasping for breath beneath loosening talons, hopes the second didn’t see her claws before she put them away.
“Are you okay?” the second asks, hand settling gentle on the first’s arm.
The hunter shivers, nods, and says yes.
(Twelve 100-word scenes about two monster hunters.)

Summary
(And he’d suspected, of course. Hoped for it to be true, hoped he hadn’t just handcrafted it all in his head. Dragging daydreams out of their duets, desperate and delusional and lonely. He just feared it, too. It scared him just as much to want.)

Summary
“Speaking of my genius ideas,” Tim goes, cutting short her embarrassingly sappy considerations, “do you want to see what I got for Jon?”
Sasha frowns. “I thought we were going to surprise him with Martin’s cake.”
“Yeah, we still are, but this is the decoy.”
“The… decoy.”
“Yeah,” he says, a little too excitedly. “Just- tell me what you think it is.”
“That is clearly a bottle of wine,” she replies, just about instantly, because, well. It is. Unless he got Jon a weird energy drink or something.
“Mh-mh. You are right about that one.”
Hard to not be. You can see the cap peeking out of the bag.
“What’s so special about a wine bottle?”
