Summary
Will's been acting— strange, Mike thinks. He's caught Will skulking around the house like he's got lead weights attached to his ankles, watched his eyes blink listlessly without a hint of light in their irises, heard his voice go so raspy Mike wasn't sure he'd been speaking at all. Mike can’t help but worry.
He doesn’t look too good, either; clammy skin, pale, ashen face, hollowed cheeks like he’s hardly eaten in days. Will's acting half-dead already, and the world's not even close to ending yet.
Mike, on the other hand, is being slowly tormented by a strange monster with fangs long enough to spear him through. These two things— Will's strange behavior, and Mike's impending doom— may or may not be related, but Mike's got to figure it out. One way or another.
(Or; Will puts his life on the line to keep his friends safe, and nearly loses it entirely. Mike does all he can to bring Will back— and, in the process, brings them closer together than ever before.)

Leaning into the touch, Mike hummed to himself lowly, before deciding now would be a good time as any to be difficult. "No, I don't think so. You should kiss me again to make sure."
Will rolled his eyes at him. "You're hilarious, Mike," he said flatly, saying it in a way that indicated he did not think Mike was funny at all. "But it's okay, you can kiss me whenever you want, you know? I'm not going to bite you for just wanting to kiss me."
"Don't tempt me."
Mike was supposed to be having a good day. However, on July 4th when he had the brilliant plan to go to the fair with Dustin, Lucas and Will, he was met with something. On the doorstep, one box and a bouquet of flowers. To Mike. Which, to his utter lack of surprise, wasn't the only stressful time of his night, as he quickly realizes..
Again, to his lack of surprise, Will had mysteriously disappeared.

“The whole time I was with her, I kept imagining she was…someone different. Someone who was easy to be with. We could just…sit in silence and still be happy. Because we understand each other so well.”
A sick coil forms in Will’s stomach. They’re already like this. Just ten minutes ago they were each doing their own thing a few feet apart, and they were both content. But obviously Mike isn’t talking about him, because Mike doesn’t…like him like that.
In one blink, Mike is still splayed along the bed, and in another, he’s suddenly upright, suddenly very close to Will. Startled, Will reels back, his spine pressed into a knob on Mike’s headboard. Mike’s eyes are wild and crazed as he stares strangely at Will; Will’s are wide and confused as he stares back.
“You know what I mean, right?” Mike says carefully. Now that they’re within arms reach, he wraps a hand gently around Will’s ankle, just above his sock and below the end of his jeans, bare skin on bare skin.
Or: Mike is acting strange, and Will can't figure out why. When he learns it's because Mike is freshly single, Will does his best to be supportive and not at all weird about it. He's doomed.

Robin Buckley is going insane.
She’s sat on the couch with Nancy Wheeler stood behind her carefully cutting away chunks of black hair from her singed scalp where she’d nearly lit herself on fire. In her defence, holding the flame thrower was Steve’s job, but Mr Hair had been nursing a dislocated shoulder for the last couple weeks, and Robin was nominated to pick up on his sloppy seconds. The thing was heavy, okay? How could any one expect her, a 120lb mess of gangly limbs and zero hand eye coordination to wield (what felt like at least) 200lbs of pure steel? She’s only partially to blame for her new, frankly horrific, pixie cut.
Surprisingly though, that’s not the reason she’s going insane.
She’s sat on a moth eaten couch in a horrifically serial-killer-esque cabin in the middle of butt fuck nowhere with several generations of people she would’ve turned on her heel and ran from in high school, spending her every waking hour trying to survive the literal apocalypse or devising a plan to kill an alternate dimensional blood thirsty wizard and it has nothing to do with why she is going insane.
It’s the two teenage boys preparing dinner to her left that are the cause.

"I thought I'd killed you," he all but snapped, his irritation not necessarily directed towards Will, but rather the genuine scare Will had given him after knowing he'd hurt him.
"You didn't. I'm okay. I'm still here, Mike."
Mike let out a scoff. "I could have.." he muttered, "..and I really thought I did. Jonathan was pissed at me and was glaring at me the whole time when he drove us here."
Will couldn't tell if Mike was being serious or not, but quickly remembering that Jonathan was pretty protective and could definitely be scary when he wanted to be, especially surrounding Will's..feelings, he decided to believe him. "Is that how you got back so fast?"
When Will, Robin, Nancy, El, and Joyce are gathered at the radio station, Will is drowning in the guilt of lying to Mike about the burn, as well as the daunting fear of once again feeling the scorching hands of the devil all over him. But he couldn't say anything, not after Mike had put the plan together himself. Will couldn't risk ruining their plans. So..
He says nothing. And they deal with the outcome when he eventually does feel the scorching flames.

Will and Lucas play a casual match with three randomly assigned teammates. Weirdly, their avatars' faces and names are blurred. Little do they know, they're playing with the famous players Mike Wheeler, Max Mayfield, and Dustin Henderson.

“Lucas!” Will turns around, about to tell his teammate that he's got the door open when he sees the exact moment the digital dog sinks its teeth into Lucas’ leg.
His health bar drops by half in just a second. “Jesus fucking-” Will mutters with wide eyes and unsheathes the gun in his belt, trading them for the lock picking tools.
But before he can reach Lucas to help, the other dog charges at him. Will manages to dodge the first time, but the second time he comes crashing to the ground. His gun falls out of his hand and skids across the road.
The canine looms over him and Will scrambles back. The dog growls and Will can’t do anything but close his eyes and pray Lucas somehow made it out. Shit. It’s going to be so annoying having to walk all the way back here from spawn.
Two gunshots go off and the growling stops. Will looks up in surprise, expecting to see Lucas standing above him, being his savior. It's not.
Wait. Who the hell was this guy...?

Will starts starving himself and injuring himself as a way to get Vecna out of his head, and slowly starts pushing people away. Mike tries to help him, byler byler byler, and the last few chapters are SO cute cause he’s healing. Beautifully written
