Summary
Bagi Carlos, mati kelaparan merupakan salah satu ketakutannya di umurnya yang baru menginjak dua puluh dua tahun. Umurnya baru dua puluh dua tahun, tetapi mati kelaparan menjadi salah satu ketakutan terbesarnya, bukan takut telat lulus seperti teman-temannya ataupun tidak mendapat pekerjaan.
Charles ingin muntah setiap mengingat bahwa ia melakukan semua ini hanya untuk bertahan hidup dari hari ke hari. Jika orang mengatakan muntah itu tidak baik, Charles akan mengatakan sebaliknya, ia suka memuntahkan isi perutnya setelah bekerja dari tempat karaoke.
“Aku mau kamu. Aku mau kamu. Aku mau kamu.” Ujar Charles berkali-kali. “Hapus jejak bibir orang lain dengan bibir kamu, Carlos.”
Bibir bengkak, bertukar peluh, lidah tergigit, gaungkan suaramu sayang. puaskan aku dan biarkan aku tinggalkan dosa juga luka tubuhmu di dalam ruang sempit ini walau kita hampir mati kelaparan.

Summary
Carlos was always the more traditional romantic one in their relationship.
He always walked closest to the road, opened every door and held every umbrella, and gave up his jacket whenever the cold took his boyfriend by surprise. He would frequently bring flowers home just because and always insisted on paying for their dates, no matter how many times his boyfriend protested.
It was rather endearing, and one of the many reasons why Charles fell for him.
However, he was also traditional in areas that Charles did not prefer as much:
Like with his opinions on premarital sex. And how stubborn he was on following through with “saving their first time together” for their wedding night.

Corners where Charles knew the apexes like clockwork, were now too safe, too early, too soft. Carlos could see it on the telemetry; he had seen the way Charles was barely holding his mask together how he was close to cracking from the pressure.
Carlos never meant to follow Charles, but he did anyway, and they both don't know it yet but it's going to shift their dynamic in such a way, one that means they can never go back to being friends.
