Chapter Text
The streetlights had started to illuminate the road along with the setting of the sun. Surprisingly and thankfully the highways were not as packed as they were when he first drove to LAX. So while his thoughts were on the road, the driver could also think about what had just happened.
I hope she did understand the meaning of what I did. Mused Edgeworth.
After the fear of hearing your sister had been shot, a person you care for was being blackmailed, and almost losing the case, in the sense that the true murderer would get away, followed by your sister telling you that she had been feeling inferior throughout their lives for a competition that wasn’t even happening – there was only so much that Miles could concentrate on.
That’s not even mentioning everyone else’s responses.
Maya Fey with her slightly sunken eyes stained with tears as she ate for the first time in two days. While it looked like she was solely focused on food she held her cousin close by pushing two chairs into one so they could sit together. Will Powers and Gumshoe talked and stood with their plates slightly turned to the doorways in case anyone came through so they would be the first to stop any possible, but unlikely, attacks.
And Wright.
Wright had been sitting across from the girls with weary red-rimmed eyes looking so happy and relaxed, but then again looking closer one could see he had no food on his plate though he had the only steak knife at the table by his left hand. Quiet and vigilant as most omegas were. It happened once, but it would not happen again. The room was filled with scents from the three alphas, one omega, and the neutral of happiness though with the underlined hint of fear that this scene could be broken.
Wright’s scent had been the most overwhelming and distressing after the trial was over, likely from the strain of holding everything in. Now it was easier to smell that fresh rain, lavender, and chamomile with a tang of citrus that would hang on your tongue, a small gift that he left behind after he exited a room.
Shaking his head and digressing from those dangerous thoughts Miles focused more on the road as he needed to get back to the hotel to drive Wright and the Feys to their apartment. Just one way of helping out, considering the uncertainty that has been plaguing the group. And hopefully Wright would be more open to talking to him about his own personal actions and mending the renewed friendship they had started just over a year ago. Also being enveloped in that scent again wouldn’t be a burden either. Funnily enough, it actually smells like he was —
No.
But theoretically and definitely after this case, that need to know that he was safe and care for would be the most present, especially if he knew his charges were safe. Moving over to the left most lane and speeding within reason, Miles made it back the Gatewater Hotel in record time. Phoenix Wright was about to go into a protective heat in an open space around three unknowing alphas.
