   Summary

   Macedon, 1916 - The War of Shadows grows steadily worse as more and more countries are brought into the conflict, extending the scope of the fighting into a war that will engulf all of Archanea in bloodshed. Minerva, sister to the corrupt King Michalis, leads her elite Whitewings on secret missions for the king, missions that will change the shape of the war. Following a surprising twist of fate, Minerva finds herself without the stomach to obey her brother and plans desertion. Michalis imprisons their younger sister Maria in order to ensure total and unflinching loyalty.
   Caught between love for her sister and her unflinching sense of justice, Minerva strives to right Macedon's wayward course and bring an end to the war.
