Chapter Text
You sighed as you slowly walked along the sidewalk. Everything around you was dull; that's all you've ever known. Blacks, whites, grays... Everything you looked at was drained of color.
Color... did it really even exist? You would hear people all around you talk about the many colors of the sunset, or even how pretty the yellow flowers were. Even so, out of all things you wanted to see, there was one that always stuck out. One that has always been your dream...
...You wanted to see a rainbow.
A rainbow. An arc of color. You heard it was one of the most gorgeous things in existence- even if it only happened every once in a while. Still, you wanted to see it.
You shook your head. You had already decided that you weren't going to find your soulmate in this lifetime- after all, the friends you've had in the past all found their soulmates in middle school. You were an adult, and you still have not seen an ounce of color. Maybe this was why you were so depressed?
You had cut your friends out of your life very quickly. As sour as it sounds, their happiness was only making you feel worse.
You clenched your teeth. You needed to focus on walking so you wouldn't lose your step and fall. But as soon as you started to focus, you felt as if someone was behind you...
Before you could turn around, a hand was slapped over your mouth, and a pocket knife was being held to your throat.
"Okay, lady. Gimme all the cash you got, and nobody gets hurt."
You were shaking, afraid to move. Why was this happening? The knife was pushed onto your skin, making you screech into his hand.
"Did I fucking stutter, you bitch?? Open your damn purse, and give me all the money you have! Do as I say, and no one gets hurt."
You started to reach for your bag with a shaking hand, when you felt something swish behind you. As soon as you felt that, the arms were gone. You spun around, seeing two men. One man was on the ground- you guessed that he was your perpetrator. The other one was on top of that man, pinning him down on the hard sidewalk.
The man had long, black hair, and was even dressed in black. He had a long gray scarf that he was using to tie up the criminal, and yellow goggles covering his eyes.
....Wait...
...Yellow?
You blinked, and rubbed your eyes. You took a second take, and no doubt about it... that was yellow . How did you know it was yellow? You weren't entirely sure. All you knew was that your brain was screaming "YELLOW!!! YELLOW!!! YELLOW!!!"
You then began to look around at your surroundings. Suddenly, all the signs you had walked past each day without a thought, were all shining with bright and vivid colors. You heard people say that those were called... neon?
You felt tears well up in your eyes. Was it from the shock? Was it from your depression finally loosening its grip on you? Well, you didn't know that, either.
You felt a hand on your shoulder.
"You see it, too. Don't you?"
You looked behind you, seeing the man with the scarf. His goggles were now on top of his head rather than over his eyes.
"Y-yes..."
Both of you stared at each other for a few long moments. He then looked up, also seeming to look at the surroundings. He rubbed his eyes with his free hand, and grinned.
"Heh... how about that. I didn't think this would ever happen... Everything's so damn bright, now..."
You fully turned around, making him remove his hand.
"So uh... I'm Shouta Aizawa. I'm a pro hero named Eraserhead... but I don't really care about publicity."
You nodded. You heard that name before, Eraserhead.
"(First name)... (First/last). Nice to meet you."
He stepped a little closer to you, placing a cool hand on your jaw.
"Well, (name), it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of each other."
You smiled for the first time in months, and nodded. You felt the tears coming back up. He took a deep breath, and gently pressed his lips against yours. You could feel his facial hair scratching your face, but you weren't complaining. Your heart was flying, and it felt amazing.
