Work Text:
Just as her first two boyfriends initially avoided going after her due to thinking that she had something going on with Momo, Kyoka has to admit that she was a little hesitant in approaching Momo because anyone with eyes could see the chemistry she shared with the other classmate who got in on recommendation. Even now that the two of them are dating, she can still see that there’s got to be something between them, but, what with the way their relationship works, she doesn’t see it as as much of a threat.
If anything, she wonders what she can do about it.

Ochako knows that Tenya can be difficult to read at times, and that he likely doesn’t even understand his own feelings most of the time. However, she likes to think that she has him pretty figured out, and lately, she’s had reason to suspect that their might be more to his feelings for his fellow class representative than meets the eyes. She can’t prove it, but she’s pretty sure that he has a crush on Yaoyorozu.
Since the other girl is a part of the other romantic group in their class, she has to wonder if that means that there’s a chance she might be interested in helping link things up a little bit.

As for the three involved, all are wonderfully oblivious to the fact that they are being set up with anyone. Todoroki finds it strange that Jiro is suddenly so intent on inviting him along to things, while Iida is glad that Uraraka is trying to get more of the class to hang out together outside of school, saying something about how it’s nice to form stronger bonds with everyone.
As for Momo, she’s just happy to know that she has so many friends. In the end, they end up in another situation where most of their class hangs out together, and though she doesn’t notice her girlfriend trying to push her closer to Todoroki, nor does she notice Uraraka trying to push Iida closer to her, she does end up with both of them at her side.
While Iida is urged to “get a second opinion from another rep” about the “amount of fun everyone is having on their unofficial class outing”, Todoroki just finds himself moved by the crowd, subtly pushed towards Momo due to Jiro’s direction. She remains wonderfully oblivious, and as she and Iida start talking, Iida tries to involve Todoroki, since he’s so close.
“What do you think?” he asks.
“About what?” replies Todoroki, who hasn’t said much up to this point.
“Well, you haven’t gone out with any of us before, have you? I wanted to make sure you were having fun!”
“Sure,” he says with a weird sort of smile, almost like he’s trying not to laugh. Momo finds herself somewhere between the two of them; she can understand exactly why Iida is taking all of this so seriously, as she wants everyone to enjoy themselves as well, but she can also see how his behavior might seem excessive.
(Either way, she finds she rather likes the way Todoroki smiles when he’s trying not to laugh, but now is hardly the time to think about something like that.)
“I see,” says Iida with a very serious nod. “Well, please let me know any concerns for future outings, alright? Otherwise, just try to have fun! Now, Yaoyorozu, I was supposed to get your opinion on something…”

Shoto doesn’t expect to be followed by Jiro when the outing is done, but she comes up beside him when no one else from their class is around and waves. He waves back, before asking, “Did you need something?”
“Nothing in particular,” she says. “Just wanted to know how it went.”
“How what went, exactly?” he asks. “You mean the way you kept trying to shove me?”
“Do you like her?”
“Who?”
“Come on, I know you’re kind of dense, but you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“Yaoyorozu is a good friend,” he says. “You’re her girlfriend, aren’t you? Why are you trying to set us up?”
“I’m dating three other people, too,” replies Jiro, raising a brow. “You had to have noticed that. I’m pretty sure she’s liked you for a while, and I figured I might as well try to help her out with that. It’s not like her liking both of us is that much of an issue with how things are now, unless it’s an issue for you.”
“I don’t think it would be,” he says, though it’s the first time he’s thought about it seriously. He’s noticed the patterns of his classmates, but never imagined getting directly involved before. If he were to date Yaoyorozu while she was dating Jiro, he doesn’t think it would bother him at all, but he’s also never been in anything even remotely resembling a relationship before, so it’s not as if he has anything to compare it to.
“Well, do you like her?”
“If I did, I don’t think I’d tell somebody else first,” he replies with a hint of a smirk, hoping that it covers up his own confusion. He doesn’t have the slightest idea how to go about dealing with a situation like this, and even thinking back to the time he spent with Yaoyorozu today doesn’t help much. After all, they were with Iida the whole time, and that’s part of what made things go so smoothly. He was the one who kept conversation going, and Shoto isn’t able to separate him from his interactions with Yaoyorozu.
In the end, he manages to brush Jiro off and decides to think about it more later, but he still does not reach much of a conclusion.

“Did it bug you when Todoroki kept butting in?” Ochako asks, later that day. Izuku and Katsuki went off by themselves, so she has the perfect chance to talk to Tenya directly, and figure out how her plan is going.
“What on earth do you mean?”
“You were trying to talk to Momo, but he was right there! You couldn’t really talk to her alone.”
“Well, we were in a rather large group, so I wouldn’t have been able to talk to her alone either way,” he replies. “But Todoroki had some interesting things to contribute! I like talking to him as much as anyone, and, as far as I know, he and Yaoyorozu get along well, so-”
“Do you like her?”
“-it was actually...do I what?”
“Like her! You and Momo spend a lot of time together, and I know you, Tenya! So?”
It’s hard not to laugh at the way his face goes red, and the way he stammers incoherently, not able to give her a proper response. Tenya takes a moment to recover before he quietly says, “I...never thought about it before…”
“If you don’t, that’s fine, I just thought it kinda seemed like you did, and if you do, I think you guys would be good together,” she says. “I was just trying to get you closer today, but then Todoroki was there too...do you think he likes her? You said they were pretty close.”
“I...you know I’m not at things like that, so I don’t…” He trails off, pausing for a moment, before he asks, “Would it be bad if he did? I don’t think I’d mind.”
It’s only then that Ochako begins to realize that Tenya might like Todoroki as well, and she isn’t sure if that makes things simpler, or even more complicated.

When Kyoka goes to Momo about the events that day, all she asks is if she had fun with Todoroki and Iida, and so, Momo says, “I did end up spending a lot of time with of them today, didn’t I?”
“Is that a good thing?”
“Of course it is! They’re both very good friends, or, at least, I think they are,” she says, and Kyoka nods.
“Are they just your friends?” Now, Kyoka takes things a little further, still trying not to be too obvious.
“Just my friends?” It takes Momo a minute to figure out what Kyoka is asking her. “Are you asking me if I like them?”
“I’m just curious,” she says, hoping that she hasn’t overstepped a boundary. She’s been trying to set Momo up with Todoroki because she wanted to help her, but if she pushes things too far, she might only end up upsetting her.
“They’re both very good friends,” says Momo thoughtfully. “They’re both admirable and hardworking...Iida is so dedicated and enthusiastic and I wish that I was able to reach people the way he is. Todoroki is...well, Todoroki, I’ve always admired how strong he is, so…”
“Wait a second.” Now, Kyoka is not worried about pushing things too far; instead, she’s just surprised that she missed this detail. “Do you like both of them?”
~X~
Later, Ochako and Kyoka end up figuring out what the other was trying to do, and find out that the three parties involved were a lot closer to each other than either of them realized. Perhaps, if they had pooled their resources sooner, it would have made things move a little quicker, but as it is, it still takes some time for Tenya, Shoto, and Momo to actually work things out between themselves.
