Chapter Text
Through the years, Jeon Jungkook wanted to become many things. When he was 4, his kindergarten teacher told them to draw their dream house, and Jungkook was already mastering the arts of the crayon. He was then given drawing lessons, as his teachers were impressed by his coloring skills. It took a few weeks, and then Jungkook dreamed of becoming an artist when he grew up.
At the young age of 7, his crush entered the school’s choir group. After a few pep talks to himself in the bathroom, he finally signed himself up without any second thoughts. The only song he knew back then were a few seleceted disney songs and the national anthem, so he did just that. He didn't really expect to be accepted right away, but alas, he did. Too bad his crush didn't got in, but after a few days practicing with the group, he forgot who his crush was in the first place. That's the story of how Jungkook decided to become a singer when he grow up.
When Jungkook reached the age of 17, his friend told him to sign up for the school’s dance group. They didn't have enough participants, and his best friend was their leader. Jungkook was hesitant at first, knowing his lack of skills in the dancing department, but he was willing to try for his best friend. At first Jungkook was a little stiff, but they saw potential in him. A few months later, after performing two times (and two times Jungkook got center-stage), he wanted to be a dancer when he grow up.
And now at the age of 27, Jungkook worked at the largest book publishing company in New York as the assistant of the executive editor in chief.
And he’s been working here for three years.
“SHIT!”
He didn't realize his alarm screeching for Jungkook to wake up thirty times already. He had to be in his office exactly 8 o’clock, but he had to do a bunch of errands first. His morning routine consists of taking his boss’ laundry, his coffee, tending to his appointments - everything related to his boss, apparently.
It’s already half past 8, and Jungkook just finished taking his boss' laundry. He thanks the lady tending the laundromat as took off. His hair is still sticking upwards, his tie still undone and his dress shirt is a mess, but now it didn't matter. Good thing his apartment is not that far from the office, taking 7 minutes if he's walking by foot. He needs to sprint to take his boss’ coffee first at starbucks, and then go to the fifth floor to take his boss’ appointments for today.
The “ding” indicates his arrival on the fifth floor, as Jungkook quickly got out, accidentally bumping on a few people and muttering apologies under his breath. When he had found his objective, he returned to the elevator to go the 27th floor.
5 minutes left as Jungkook run past his co-workers. He had his boss' coffee in his right hand and his suit in the other. For some reason he got his tie fixed already, as he greet the people in the room. The sound of telephone ringing, the buzzing of printers and the punching of keyboards echoed all over the room, the melody in sync with the steady rhythm of his frantic steps.
The glass door to the office awaits him as he pushes it with his body, whilst gracefully putting down the coffee on his boss’ table, drape his suit on his chair, and plopped himself down in his own chair, spinning around as he stopped in front of his phone, and raised it to his ear just in time when it rings.
“Hello, Mr. Park’s office”
And that was just the beginning.
Park Jimin grumbled under his breath as his fingers jabbed his phone endlessly, eyebrows furrowed as his shades slowly slip down from the bridge of his nose.
The glass doors to the large building opened automatically, welcoming his presence. All set of working eyes were on him the moment he entered, as hushed whispers spreaded all across the floor.
“I heard he fired Mr. Wang yesterday”
“Damn, he was here longer than him, though?”
“Poor Mr. Wang”
“He called him a heartless bitch though”
“Serves him right”
“Someone needed to say that”
So much for being subtle, Jimin thought as the constant jabbing on his phone intensifies. The doors to the elevator opened up, as the people inside quickly gave him space. Jimin, oblivious to the nervous glances stabbed behind his back, keep looking down on his phone.
He made it to the 27th floor of the building.
“Ah, good morning Mr. Park!” The bubbly receptionist exclaimed, pearly white teeth standing out in the already too bright room.
Jimin walked in, not saying a word.
The smile maintained even after the raven haired passed by. When the receptionist checked her surroundings, she finally whipped her head as she quickly typed in the floor’s group chat, a private chat accessible for the whole floor, its sole purpose dedicated to their one and only boss from the editing department.
‘The witch is here’
Chaos ensues in the office.
People were hiding their phones, throwing their comic books and magazines, running back to their seats, quickly picking up phones, pretending to be calling someone important, and typing random nothings on their laptop.
Jimin walked by the now buzzing office, soft murmurs and the typing of the keyboard echoes throughout the floor. He nodded in acknowledgement as he entered his office.
The whole floor let out a sigh of relief simultaneously.
The sight of the raven haired brought Jungkook to his knees as he welcomed his boss with his morning coffee.
“Good morning boss”
Jimin took the cup from his hands as he handed Jungkook files that scream "overtime work!" in big, bold letters. He put it down on his table.
“Where’s my suit?”
“Right here,” Jungkook said as he held up his boss' suit, allowing him to insert both his arms in the arm sleeve.
“And where’s my agenda?” He plopped down on his comfy seat as he took off his shades whilst throwing it across the table.
“It's all in here,” Jungkook pointed his own phone, all of it typed down in his humble companion-device. "You have meeting with RB books later on 3, and Trey sent you the drafts just this morning."
"Great. What about Ray's interview tomorrow? Is it still on or...?"
"Yeah, he just called, said he needs the copies on his desk by tonight."
"Crazy bitch," Jimin muttered as he blew on his too-hot coffee, "at least Wang's out of the way though. He wouldn't have gotten that interview if it weren't for me."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, "that's beacause you're the best."
Jimin stopped sipping halfway, as his eyes quickly darken. Jungkook who was watching his boss' reaction the whole time, gulped as his palms start to sweat. He stopped drinking his coffee while glaring at the cup, examining it carefully. Jungkook mentally prepared himself for what's about to come.
“Care to explain what this is?”
“No, because I can never understand your obnoxious orders” Jungkook screamed inside his head as he tried to remember what's on today’s menu.
His boss has had a tight diet schedule, so it’s best to memorize his menu by heart, since it varies everyday. He knows coffee is an essential need for his boss, since his saltiness would increase tenfold if the he got the wrong order. He wasn't a fan of coffee, let alone remembering all those liquid that he didn't know exist in the first place. Why can’t he just order a simple americano like normal people would?
“Um… today’s friday, so… decaf soy latte with extra shot…?”
Jimin tsked, holding the cup as if it’s poison, glaring at it, “decaf soy latte, extra shot, with cream, Jeon”
“Who drinks soy latte with cream?!” Jungkook screams internally.
Contradicting to his words, Jimin finished the whole cup in one quick gulp, and then proceeded to throw the empty cup to the nearest trash bin. Jungkook waited for further instructions as Jimin opened his laptop is one quick movement and continued to type in it.
“Be a dear and go get me another one will ya? And make it right this time.”
Jungkook, his boss, and a few other people were the minorities in the building. Both him and Jimin were from Korea (as well as Yugyeom, a '97 liner like him), which is probably why the company chose him as Jimin's assistant.
Jungkook wanted to be a lot of things when he grew up, but as he moved away from his home, took business in college for four years in America and managed to be an American citizen after a few years, he finally told his heart that he wanted to be a writer.
His family were surprised, to say the least. But then again Jungkook is very ambitious to the things he put his heart on. Whatever he decides, he's going to do everything in his power to get what he wants. They knew the brunette couldn't be stopped, even if they wanted to, and at the end they agreed to his proposal of working in a book publishing company near his apartment.
It took a whole year for Jungkook to get settled in his apartment, try to get experience in small book companies, and he even writing a children's book once. One day he was surprised that got accepted in one of the few big book publishing companies, and he was ecstatic. He knew that his hardwork paid off big time, and decided that his journey as a novelist starts here.
His job desk was simple. It's to assist his boss in his work, and possibly don't get in the way. The night he got the job offer, he took a walk at the park near his apartment, and thought about his future. For once, he actually thought if he's sure with his decisions. Since this is a big company, he knew this will affect his whole career, whether in a good way or a bad way. He knew that he gets bored easily, considering the fact that since he wanted to be a lot of things since a child - he even wasted his four years in college studying business. He didn't want this to be momentary, he want this to actually be his lifetime job. He kept reminding himself that it's okay, everything's going to be fine, as long as he follows his heart.
Unfortunately for him, his boss doesn’t seem to make it that way.
It’s a fact that Park Jimin, his boss, is one of the most feared individual in the premise of their beloved book publishing company. He’s known for his piercing glare and cold exterior, along with his habit of firing people in the most hurtful way possible.
Jimin is also a perfectionist in everything he does. He demands perfection from his station, as well as his own work. He doesn’t like seeing one of his people slacking off. He believes that in their given time, it is one's duty to perform the best they can, not wasting it by doing other things. They were paid here to work, not to have fun.
Jungkook admired that side of Jimin. It inspired him to become someone as tough as Jimin. If it weren’t for his cold and salty attitude, Jungkook might actually like him.
“I don’t know dad, it’s kinda busy here in the office,” Jungkook half-whispered, his hand holding his phone while the other closing his mouth.
Another thing about Jimin, is that he rarely give Jungkook any day-off. As his assistant, it is essential that he would have to assist to his boss’ deeds, but by not getting any day-off outside of his holidays? He really need a promotion.
“No - dad, I have work - no, it’s not that, dad, it’s his job -”
Jimin entered their small office, and Jungkook quickly changed his tone.
“- to assist your needs, thank you for calling, have a nice day!”
Jungkook slams the phone shut and quickly turned his attention to his laptop, typing away, ignoring Jimin's questioning gaze at his back.
“Was that your dad?”
Jungkook opened his mouth, about to deny it.
"...yes”
But he fears that his boss will call him out of his lying, and Jungkook didn't want to know what that will bring.
Jimin nodded as he walk towards his desk, opening his laptop.
“What did he say?”
“Um… it’s my brother’s farewell party before he gets sent off to the military. My dad thought I should come home to Busan this weekend and -”
“You have work this weekend,” Jimin answered curtly, not sparing Jungkook a glance.
“...of course” Jungkook nodded and went back to his work, his fists clenched.
"I'm so done with him."
"No surprise there."
Jungkook almost threw his burger right at Yugyeom's face, but his stomach growls at him before he does.
"Seriously Jeon, all you ever talk about is overwatch and how annoying your boss is! If he weren't a total dickhead, I'd actually thought you have a crush on him or something," Yugyeom said as he slurped on his ramen loudly.
"Glad you understood," Jungkook said bitterly.
He's glad this time they ate at the quiet restaurant not too far from the company. Jungkook isn't really fond of the loud cafeteria in their company, and he really needs some peace and quiet after those busy hours. With the company being busy with new books published in a few weeks, add his boss in the equation and you have a total headache. Jungkook wanted to enjoy his time away from his boss as peaceful as possible.
"Isn't he going on a business trip next week?"
Jungkook widened his eyes. "I totally forgot about that!"
"The office will be Jimin-free in lest than a few days. Don't worry Jeon, your suffering will be over faster than you know it!" Yugyeom assured as he patted Jungkook's back.
The thought of not having his boss around for a couple of days brought a smile to his face. Finally, the stress-relieved moment he's been waiting for!
"Now I don't have to worry getting caught playing overwatch in the office!" Yugyeom exclaimed happily.
"Idiot, they pay you to work, not to have you messing around," Jungkook rolled his eyes.
"Damn, you're slowly turning into him! I'm doubting if you'll enjoy this Jimin-free week as much as we do."
Jungkook scoff, "are you seriously questioning that? I should be the happiest out of all of you! You're not the one who's stuck with him 24/7!"
Happiest, Yugyeom thought as he rolled his eyes.
"Honestly, I can't wait for that business trip of his!" Jungkook exclaimed quite loudly, earning glares from other customers, "hell, I wish he'd stay there for so long, I wouldn't see is face ever again!"
The door swung open as Jimin’s head peaked in, his raven locks barely covering his eyes. “You called?”
In the middle of the room, there sat a woman with brown locks and piercing green eyes, as she sat there confidently. She nodded her head.
“Come in, Mr. Park,” Ms. Sanders, head of the department, called out.
Jimin nodded. He stepped in to the room as he pushed back his hair, while putting away his phone to his back pocket. The room is dimly lit, the only source of light coming from the lamp table on Ms. Sander's desk. Jimin looked around as he waited for his next instructioins.
“Sit here”
He sat.
The atmosphere isn't tense, but it's not happy either. He couldn't figure out what his boss wanted for him, as he thought of his past mistakes, and what he did to make his boss upset. Or was it something that made her happy? He couldn't read the atmosphere at all, and it made him nervous - just a little.
"I'm sure this is not about my promotion right?" Jimin chuckled nervously, trying to lighten up the mood.
The lack of change in his boss' demeanor proves otherwise.
“No, actually, we're here to discuss about your business trip…”
“My business trip - OH! Right, yes, my business trip! It’s scheduled next week!”
Ms. Sanders frowned, but nodded either way. “Yes, you’re scheduled to New Zealand next week. As I’ve said before, we’ve been working on your visa since last week, but it seems that we’ve run to some... trouble”
Then the mood dropped down instantly. “Trouble? What trouble?”
There was a dramatic pause, before his boss answered.
“It seems as though your visa has expired”
Jimin widened his eyes, his mouth hanging open. His visa was the last thing on his mind.
Jimin chuckled nervously as his palms start to sweat. He wiped it absent-mindedly on his pants. "Haha, you're kidding right? This is all just- a joke, right?" he said with no humor laced in his voice.
But his boss' face doesn't seem to be taking it as a joke.
“W-wait, you can't be serious! Boss, you know I’m not an immigrant!” Jimin quickly assured, his hands waving around, eyes wide. “I got this job legally didn’t I? I've been working here for five years now, how is my visa suddenly a problem? T-that doesn’t make any sense!”
“I wish I could say the same Mr. Park, but the papers say otherwise.”
As if a bomb just dropped on his head, Jimin fell back on his chair, his face filled with horror. His business trip has been cancelled, the government thinks he’s an illegal immigrant, and now there’s a chance that he’s going to get fired!
And to think that all of this happened in the last ten minutes.
The door opened, revealing Greg, Ms. Sander’s assistant. “I got the papers - oh, hey Jimin!”
The raven haired replied by holding up his hand weakly.
“So… what’s going to happen to me?” he managed to ask.
Ms. Sanders eyed Greg from the corner of her eyes. The assistant cleared his throat, getting the signal.
“Well,” Greg started, “first of all, you’re not going to New Zealand, that’s for sure, so I’m sorry but you’re going to have to say goodbye to that. Second, you’re going to have to be deported from-”
"Deported?!”
“That what it says,” he said while holding up the papers in his hand.
“Wait, that means-”
“You’re going to be fired and deported to Korea, and sent to jail? I’m afraid so.”
“N-no… there’s no way,” Jimin’s eyes quickly found Ms. Sanders’, his eyes pleading, “boss - Ms. Sanders, please, aren't there any other way?”
“I’m sorry Mr. Park, but there is nothing I can do! As much as we regret it, I’m going to have to call Mr. Wang back to replace you.”
Jimin’s breath hitched, his eyes as big as saucers. His jaw slacked, his shoulders tensed.
“You’re kidding me. Wang? The guy that I just fired?”
“The one and only,” Greg answered helpfully.
Jimin groaned as his head lolled back, not comprehending the situation. Everything happened so quick, Jimin didn’t know how his brain is able to handle all of this. He didn't really know who to blame, since it all happened in a blink of an eye, and he didn’t know whether he should cry or feel enraged.
The door opened once more, and Jimin didn’t even dare looking back.
He tried to block the muffled voices. His mind quickly swarming with alternative solutions, trying to figure out a way to get out of this mess. He can’t lose his job, and he certainly can’t go back to Korea. He’s done so much to get here, he can’t risk years of hard work gone just because of his stupid visa-
“Uh, hello? Boss? You there?"
"What, Jungkook?!"
The younger jumped in surprise, but Jimin kept his gaze on the younger's brown ones, his eyes filled with mixed emotions.
"U-um, Berean books just called, and I think it’s really important? Something about, and I quote, 'engaging in a reimbursement battle with our employees', that important.”
Jimin blinked once. Then twice.
Jungkook is looking down on him, with his phone in his hand. He looked confused, but distressed as well. Jimin stared at his assistant with a blank face, mind floating in a different timeline.
And then suddenly a thought struck inside his head.
He stood up abruptly, surprising everyone present in the room.
“Mr. Park? What are you -”
“Ms. Sanders!” Jimin quickly cut her off, turning around as he presented a sweet smile.
Jungkook widened his eyes when he felt Jimin’s hand resting on his shoulder comfortably. He turned his attention to Jimin, Sanders, and then back to Jimin. Did he came at a wrong time?
“Actually I have something to - no…” Jimin turned around to give Jungkook a wide smile till his eyes dissapear to crescents. He was at awe but at the same time terrified.
The only time he saw his boss like this was when he had fired someone.
“No, not me… we have something to tell you,” Jimin’s grip on Jungkook’s shoulder tightened.
Jungkook’s brain short-circuited for a moment.
We do?
“You do?”
Jimin nodded as he stared deeply into Jungkook’s eyes. He stared back, pushing back the realization that his boss is actually shorter than him, and tried to read the message behind his boss’ eyes.
Surprisingly, he’s really good at doing that, but what he caught on from his boss’ eyes were far more surprising.
It said, “just play along”
Jimin grinned devilishly, his eyes still fized on his assistant, “Jungkook and I are getting married.”

Chapter Text
The room was cold, and it was silent. Despite the cold temperature, his palms were sweaty and his eyes were unable to focus. All eyes were on both of them, and Jungkook can’t help but squirm under their heavy gaze. Everything happened so fast, and his brain can’t even process Jimin’s words properly.
“Jungkook and I are getting married” , those five words keep repeating like a broken record inside his head.
Jungkook dared to steal a glance on his boss, and what he saw caught him off-guard.
"Engaged, actually, but we're already, uh, planning on our marriage already! And, um, it will be due in, uh... short notice."
Jimin looked confident, his pearly white teeth shining as he showed off his grin. His posture was perfect, and his hair looked great. He didn’t look as if he just announced their so-called ‘marriage’ to the whole world.
“Oh…” Ms. Sanders said intelligently.
“Yeah, we’ve been dating for quite a while, you see.” Jungkook slowly shook his head, but Jimin’s grip on his shoulders turned to painful. “We’ve promised each other that our relationship is strictly professional but… we just couldn’t help it”
All of this felt weird in Jungkook’s ear. He never heard his boss talk like this, and trust him, he doesn’t like it one bit. “That's -”
Jimin cut him off by stomping his feet, both Ms. Sanders and Greg watch them questioningly.
“We know this… love is forbidden but…” Jimin made a weird face, and Jungkook cringed internally, “you can’t blame love now, can you?”
Ms. Sanders pondered over Jimin’s words and her eyes met Jungkook’s innocent ones. “Jungkook, is this true?”
He was about to open his mouth, to deny all this. He's going to ask what the hell is going on, get back to his office and work in peace.
“Yes - uh, I mean, no - but that -” he took one look at Jimin and it sent shivers down his spine.
“Tell them the truth and the next bed you’ll be sleeping on would be your deathbed”
It’s terrifying how accurate Jungkook could read Jimin’s eyes like that.
“... Yes, that is true.”
Greg’s eyes lit up, “wow! Congrats you guys! I mean, I gotta admit this is pretty shocking, especially coming from Jimin - no offense by the way,” Jimin gave him a look, “but hey I’m happy for you two!”
Ms. Sanders offered a smile while nodding, “yes, congratulations! This is big news, really, the whole company should know about this -”
“NO!”
Both of them shouted simultaneously, surprising both Greg and Ms. Sanders. Jimin was the first one to break the silence by clearing his throat.
“I mean, we plan on making this a secret, you know? As a surprise, really. It’s a busy week, so we don’t want the whole company fussing over about it, right Jungkook?”
“Um…”
“Well then, if that’s the case, you have to fix your visa real quick. You’re already an American citizen, right?” Greg asks, the question thrown at Jungkook.
“Uh, yeah - yes, that is correct”
“Then you’ll have no problem going to that business trip,” Greg concluded, “clean your mess and then give the papers to me, we'll send you to New Zealand in no time!”
Jimin sighed in relief and happily nodded, “yes, thank you! I’ll come to you as soon as I can!” He turned around to meet Jungkook’s eyes, but they were filled with tons of questions.
Jimin shushed him, whispering a soft “later”
“We’ll be going now, have a nice day!” Jimin chirped as he looped his arm around the younger's awkwardly, and pulled them out of there.
“Deported?!”
“Shh, not so loud, geez!”
Both of them are outside the building, the elder’s fingers jabbing his phone mercilessly, while Jungkook watched Jimin, pure confusion in his face.
“You’re telling me that you’re faking our ‘marriage’ so you wouldn’t lose your job?!”
“That’s right”
“And you’re saying that as if that’s normal!”
Jimin sigh as he stopped typing on his phone. He took off his shades and crossed his arms. “Look, I know you’re thinking this is a bad idea-”
“It is! Dammit, it is a bad idea -”
“And I’m trying to tell you, it isn't! Look, if I lose my job, you lose your job as well.” Jungkook bit his lower lip at that. “They’re going to bring back Wang again and since you’re my assistant, he’s gonna have to fire you.”
Jungkook groaned. He gripped his hair, as he think of a way to get past all this. The streets are buzzing with footsteps and loud honking. Jungkook couldn’t think properly. He needed his peace and quiet. It was too damn loud.
"Okay, okay, but what does any of this got to do with me marrying you?"
"Are you really an educated citizen, Jeon?" Jimin asks, his face scrunching up disappointingly, "if a non-citizen marries to an American citizen, then by the law, they get to be an American citizen as well."
Jungkook stared at Jimin exasperatedly, "the things you do for your job, honestly..."
Jimin rolled his eyes as they went back to his phone, "you have no idea how hard I worked my ass for this."
They were silent, as the loud buzz of the crowds accompany the silence, the hard brush of tired against asphalt, and the wrenching smell of smoke somewhere. Jungkook stared at his shoes, not wanting to look at his boss. True, it's just a lot to take in. He needs to prepare himself mentally first, tell his family, or maybe even go for a jog to clear his mind for a bit? Unfortunately for him, he's engaged with one of the most patient human-being he knows.
“...alright”
That caught Jimin’s attention. He lift his head to give Jungkook a cheshire grin, the younger almost regretted instantly.
“Well, that was faster than I -”
“Under one condition.”
His smile instantly turned to a frown in just a mere seconds.
“I get to be promoted as editor.”
“...fine -”
“And, I get to publish my book.”
“Aren’t you asking a bit too much?”
Jungkook shrug, giving his boss a smug grin, “hey, I’m not the one who’s gonna get deported."
But Jimin was hesitant, and Jungkook knew the only way to make him agree was to pull that card.
"You know, I could just easily tell the truth. Let you rot in jail for - oh, I don’t know, ten years?”
Jimin widened his eyes as Jungkook walk around him in circles, hands in his pocket, “and then I’ll just let Mr. Wang take your office. Oh, I could just imagine him sitting on your chair right now.”
“Oh no…” Jimin whispered, his eyes filled with horror.
“Oh, yes!” Jungkook exclaimed, liking this power over his boss, something he never knew he enjoyed until now. “He’s gonna look down on you and he’s gonna laugh at you, and the best part is,” his mouth wanders near Jimin’s ear, “He’s gonna be ten times better than you are.”
“OKAY YOU WIN!”
Jungkook backs away, grinning victoriously. “Of course."
Jimin sigh, “I can’t believe I just gave in to my assistant”
“Hey, life is about give and take. It’s all about bribing your way out of your problems, even though you’re gonna lose a lot.” Jungkook smiled at his own quote. “I’m just giving you a taste of it.”
“Thanks for the daily motivation, pastor Jeon.”
“At least pretend to sound like you’re grateful,” Jungkook rolled his eyes, “if they find out about our fake marriage, you’re not the only one who’s going to jail, and I’m pretty sure my family will not be happy about this.”
“Don’t stress about it,” Jimin assured, although the younger doesn’t feel assured the slightest, “It’s going to work out. We’ll just file a divorce after a few weeks or months, and then we could go our own separate ways. You could be the editor you've always wanted, and I'll be in the safety of my office.”
“You know, that got me thinking. Why me? Why not Greg or any of your friends, or something. I don’t get it.”
"You appearing suddenly was the reason behind all this, and I had to make a quick decision," Jimin answered quickly.
“Don’t you ever go to any blind dates? No special someone? I thought you’re close with the girl from the marketing department - what’s her name-"
"Alright, let me get this straight..."
Jungkook waited expectantly.
"I'm not."
"... well, shit."
Jimin quirked an eyebrow, "don't tell me you're not fine doing all this with me?"
"Oh! W-well, I'm bi, but I can assure you I'm not dating anyone if that's what you're referring-"
"I wasn't asking you about that."
"Just wanna let you know before you ask."
Jimin waved him off. "Come on, the immigrant office closes in an hour, go get us an uber or something." He said as he held up his phone to his ear, answering a call.
Jungkook nodded as he took out his phone. While loading for the app to open, he stared at his boss angrily cussing to the person on the other line. He shook his head, realizing that there's still a lot of things about Jimin than meets the eye.
“Mr. Park?”
Jimin quickly stood up as Jungkook followed suit. They were waiting for hours, and finally they've been called. The waiting room was packed, and Jungkook had to run from store to store to buy Jimin's 'special mineral water' that costs almost his entire life savings. He kept buying the wrong brand, as usual ("this is lake water! What the actual fuck Jeon, you gon' get me killed? I specifically ordered mountain water you uncultured swine-!"), and the stares people give them were enough for Jungkook to actually quit his job. But he knew sacrifices were necessary for the cause of something great, so he let it go just this once (and more to come).
“This way please.”
Both of them were led to a rather dark room. There’s a table at the center and three chairs. A man is already sitting there, waiting for them.
The procedure states that after filing a form, both of them will be asked a few questions about each other to prove their relationship status. But before that, they have to go through an interview.
“So… Mr. Jimin Park?”
Jimin nodded, his soft raven locks bouncing. “Yes, that’s me.”
“And you must be his fiance? Mr... Jungkook Jeon?”
Jungkook nodded curtly, “yes.”
The interviewer nodded as he looks back to the papers below him, and then back at them. “It says here that your visa has expired for quite a while, Mr. Park”
“Yes, it has”
"You were booking a ticket to New Zealand?"
"Yes, I was supposed to go on a business trip next week."
The interviewer hummed, "well, it says that turns out you didn't get to book the ticket because your visa was expired, is that correct?"
Jimin nodded.
"And did you know your visa expired before this incident?"
"No, sir, I didn't. My visa has never been a problem before."
The interviewer took off his glasses as he rests his arms above the table, his body leaning against it, examining Jimin closely. “Then this… marriage thing isn’t an excuse so that you could go to that business trip and not get fired, am I right?”
Jimin gulped and shared a look with Jungkook. He laughed nervously. “Of course not!”
Jungkook snickered watching Jimin's panicked face.
The interviewer nodded and wrote a few things in his note.
“It also says that Mr. Jeon’s occupation as your assistant, Mr. Park?”
Jungkook nodded, “yes, that’s correct”
"How long have you been working under Mr. Park?"
"Uh... three to four months, I guess."
The interviewer nodded as he took some notes, "if I don’t mind asking, Mr. Jeon," Jungkook's ears perk at that, "this isn’t your way of taking advantage of your boss so you could be promoted right?”
“W-why would you say that? I would never!” Jungkook stuttered.
Jimin rolled his eyes.
"How long have you two been dating?"
Jungkook bit his bottom lip, but Jimin beat him to it. "Two months ago, sir." He said smoothly.
"So... two months into your relationship and you're already planning on getting married?"
Jimin shrug, "we couldn't wait any longer," then Jimin's hand found Jungkook's, and the younger tried not to loook too nervous, "we were in love."
Jimin definitely deserved an oscar.
The interviewer looked mildly suspicious at first, and his gaze met Jungkook's. The younger tensed and Jimin gripped his hand harder, whether to reassure him or to tremind him not to blow their cover, Jungkook isn't sure.
After a few minutes, the interviewer sigh as he puts on his glasses. “Very well,” he rearranges the papers below and put them all into a yellow file, “last question, has any of your family members been informed about this?”
Both of them were silent for a moment. Jungkook looked at Jimin, and he took the signal.
“Oh! Well, my parents are dead, so…”
Jungkook fidgeted nervously.
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that-”
“No, it’s fine really.” Jimin waved his hands, dismissing the topic about his parents. Suddenly an imaginary light bulb appeared above his head.
“Actually… Jungkook and I are going to meet his parents… tomorrow! Isn’t that right babe?”
Jungkook flinched at the pet name. “Uh… y-yeah, that’s right.” he turned to the interviewer, “my brother will be assigned to the military next week.”
“Yup, next week!”
“And my family is holding up a farewell party.”
“That’s right, a farewell party.”
“In Busan, Korea.”
“In Busan… Korea…”
Jungkook nodded happily, but Jimin was having a mental breakdown.
He’s coming back to his hometown.
“Oh! Congratulations for your brother then!”
Jungkook bowed his head slightly, “thank you sir!”
“But still, we need the approval from the family’s side for your visa renewal. How about this, I’ll give you till next week for the papers, and then you can come to me and we could finish the interview briefly. How does that sound?”
Jungkook waited for Jimin’s response, but he was staring off into space. Jungkook took the iniative and shook the interviewer's hand. "Sounds great. Thank you sir."
Saturday came in a blink of an eye, but Jimin felt his 8 hours of sleep and 5 hours in the airport went on forever. The number 4:23 from his phone blinked all too bright at him in the dim light of the cold waiting room. It was his idea to book the early flight, but he didn’t think he would have regretted it. It's way too cold and it's way too early, he didn't have a good enough sleep last night. For some reason his usual morning coffee isn't enough to bring him out of his grumpy mood.
Truth is, he is nervous. Not because of meeting Jungkook’s parents, no, he’s not afraid of that. He’s used to meeting new people, and in an even more intimidating occasion. No, rather he’s afraid of going back to Busan.
“Hey,” Jungkook called, surprising him. He raised head, since he was sitting (not because Jungkook’s tall, mind you).
“What?”
“You were spacing out,” Jungkook commented as he gripped on his backpack.
“You came here to tell me that?”
“Well, that, and that our plane’s here, so let’s go.” Jungkook nodded to the long line right in front of them. Jimin didn't even notice people were beginning to line up right in front of him.
Jimin nodded as he stood up. He was about to take his suitcase but his foot accidentally kicked on and fell. He grumbled under his breath as he crouch down to pull it back up, but his phone fell from his grasp and he cursed out loudly, earning stares from the people around them.
Jungkook sigh as he walked over to help Jimin with his suitcase but the elder quickly rejected his help and pulled it with him. “I’m fine”
“No, you’re not. Your suitcase is.”
“Why do you care anyway.”
“Are you nervous?”
But Jimin didn’t answer him. He quickly went to the line where they would board their plane. Jungkook sigh as he followed suit.
Jungkook has known Jimin for months, and he'd gotten to know his boss like an old friend would. Being his assistant, he practically knows everything going on in his life. They’re not real friends however, but Jungkook thinks that’s okay, although he would appreciate it if this trip as well as this ‘marriage’ would make them closer. He secretly hopes that in the end, all this pretending would actually create something better.
His boss may be a hard one to crack, but Jeon Jungkook is willing to try.

Chapter Text
During the 13-hour flight to Gimhae International Airport, Jimin’s been having cramps throughout the ride, and he blamed Jungkook for this.
He told him to book first class seats, but Jungkook didn’t deem it necessary since they’re not going on a business trip. The younger's decision resulted to stiff chairs and food that couldn't be compared to hospital food. If Jungkook didn’t gave him the window-seat, Jimin’d be squirming in his seat along the way. At the end of their trip, they had a rough landing, and Jimin felt his soul leaving his body.
“So,” Jungkook started, his attention focused on his phone, “my brother can’t pick us up."
“Well that’s just great,” Jimin grumbled under his breath.
They’re currently outside the airport, suitcases in their hands, as well as Jungkook's military backpack. Jimin would have thought he'd put bricks in it if he were a random stranger passing by. Jimin watched Jungkook from the corner of his eye frustratingly typing on his phone, Jimin guessed it's probably his brother. He stood in silence as he watched his assistant intently.
Jungkook wore a white and yellow shirt and rolled it up to his elbow. The sleeve was yellow while the rest was white, as he tucked it in his ripped jeans. He also wore timberlands to compliment the look. Jimin thought Jungkook looked more like his age, rather than seeing him wear his dull and boring work clothes, he looks more young and carefree. Meanwhile, Jimin wore a plain navy T-shirt with a black blazer on, as well as black slacks.
He didn’t get much sleep on the plane, and it’s already 7 AM here in Busan. Adding his jetlag, making the older raven haired winced every time they walk. He feels like an old man, and tried to hide it as much as he could. Unfortunately, Jungkook noticed this, and is surprised that his boss hasn’t commented anything about it. Wanting to end Jimin's silent suffering, he quickly called out a cab that just drove past them.
“ Finally ,” Jimin groaned, as he immediately entered the cab, leaving Jungkook to heave in all their suitcase to the trunk. The younger didn't mind, since he's used to all this, especially when it's carrying his boss' stuff. Jimin doesn't seem to care, since he's too tired to actually order him around. He just needs rest.
When Jungkook's done putting all their luggage in the trunk, he sat at the front as he told their driver the location. He told Jimin that the ride is going to be quite long, so Jimin took this time to finally rest. Jimin got the back seat all to himself and made the whole seat as his makeshift bed. Soft music starts playing from the radio as white noise accompanies the silence in the cab. The soft murmur of the engine turns out to be comforting for Jimin, as he used his blazer for his pillow. Beggars can't be choosers, he decides. As he slowly closed his eyes, he was already fast asleep.
“Jimin… hey, Jimin”
“Hm?” Jimin mumbled groggily.
Jungkook was already standing outside, holding out Jimin's suitcase. The cab door was wide open, as Jungkook look down on Jimin's sleeping form. He felt guilty for waking up his boss, since he knew that he didn't get much sleep on their way here.
“Wake up, we’re here.”
That made Jimin sprung up from his sleeping position, surprising Jungkook as well as their driver. Jimin rubbed his eyes quickly as he quickly fix his hair.
“ Shit , where’s my bag-”
“It's still in the trunk-”
He quickly stumbled outside, almost tripping on his own feet. Jungkook watched the scene unfold in amusement. Jimin quickly pulled out his phone from his bag to check on his own appearance. When he thought he looked suitable, he sighed in relief as he put away his phone to his pocket.
“That’s it? You’re fussing over your bag just so you could use your phone to check yourself out?”
“I’m not checking myself out ,” Jimin rolled his eyes at how ridiculous it sounds, “I just need to make a good first impression to your parents if they want to approve our marriage.” He said as he flipped back his hair.
“You’re not nervous, are you?”
“ Nervous ?! Psh, of course not. I’m perfectly calm.”
“If you say so.”
Jungkook paid the driver (with Jimin insisting that he’ll pay back after they get back to New York (even though Jungkook is sure he’ll probably forget about it when they get back)), leaving both of them where, Jimin thought, ‘in the middle of nowhere’.
Well, not exactly ‘in the middle of nowhere’. They’re currently at the beach. Which beach, Jimin isn’t sure. It’s Saturday, but there’s not a lot of people there, only a few. In front of them is a pier, and a few boats parked around it. The strong wind caused the water to harshly push around the pier, and Jimin doubt that it’ll last that long if the water keeps pushing on it, especially when the pillars that hold the pier together looked old.
They’ve been here for nearly ten minutes, and yes, Jimin counted. He’s been asking Jungkook why the hell are they doing there, but the later didn’t bother giving him a coherent answer. He kept checking his phone, and Jimin doesn’t really care anymore if he opens his suitcase to find nothing but sand in there. So he breathed in the smell of the beach, and exhaled, trying to at least enjoy the scenery before him.
It’s been a while since he went to the beach.
Finally deciding that demanding his assistant an answer is useless, he decided to busy himself with other things. His mind slowly drifted off to when he was still a kid, his parents would take him here almost every weekend. He would be running around, finding seashells, and making sandcastles while decorating it with the seashells he found. The water is warm every time he put in his feet, as he started kicking around aimlessly, and splashed water everywhere, even to strangers that just so happen to be right beside him. He's not fond of reminiscing his childhood, but the thought of it brought a smile to his face.
“Ah, there he is.”
Jungkook’s voice pulled Jimin out of his nostalgia, as he turn around to find the ‘he’ Jungkook meant, but alas, there is nothing but sand and more sand.
“What are you-”
Jimin’s eyes followed where Jungkook’s finger pointed at. There, at the sea, a single yacht, rushing through the water. Jimin couldn’t see the driver, but he’s very sure that said driver is the ‘he’ that Jungkook mentioned.
“Wait, you never told me where do you live,” Jimin said in realization.
Jungkook shrug as he picked up his suitcase. “Come on,” he said as both of them walk to the pier, suitcases in hand.
The yacht got closer, and finally stopped right in front of them. The driver, who Jimin assumed is Jungkook’s friend, got down from the boat. Now that Jimin could view the stranger up close, ‘devilishly handsome’ is the correct word the describe him.
His chestnut brown hair was cut to a bowl cut, as its fringes falls freely just right above his eyes. His nose is sharp and is jaw is sharp, Jimin almost mistook him for a model. His choice of fashion would’ve fooled Jimin as well. He wore a green hawaiian patterned shirt, and short brown cargo pants. He also put on some pink shades and simple yellow slippers. He definitely looked as if he came out of a magazine, and Jimin would probably admit it out loud.
He gave both of them a charming boxy smile, and Jimin had to squint at the intensity of it. Jungkook then left his side as he walked forward and hugged the stranger before them.
“Jungkookie~! What do you eat in America, bro? You’re getting taller than me!”
“It’s good to be home too, Tae.”
Jimin watched their bonding time in silent, as he suddenly realized the wind had gotten calmer.
“Tae, this is Jimin.” He raised his head a little when he heard his name being called.
“Hey! I’m Taehyung, Jungkook’s brother! You must be Park Jimin! It’s nice to officially meet you!” He said cheerfully as he gripped on Jimin’s hand.
Suddenly Jimin's mind came to a halt. The fact that Jungkook's brother, his family member, is standing before him. Jimin cursed the heavens for not letting him double check his hair, especially when the harsh wind was blowing his hair and basically shoving tons of sand to his face. There was nothing he could do but gulp.
“Oh! So you’re the brother!” Jimin exclaimed awkwardly, as he gave Jungkook a glare from the corner of his eyes for not warning him.
Jungkook already knew how nervous Jimin is about meeting his family (although the older wouldn't admit it), and Jimin knows he’s doing this for his own personal amusement, wanting to see how Jimin will react. He could hear the devil silently snickering beside him.
“It’s nice to meet you too,” Jimin said with a strained smile. For some reason, he felt a knot inside his stomach, his palms start sweating. These signs only happen when Jimin is nervous - which is something that happens once a blue moon, so Jimin dismissed it as jet lag.
Jungkook volunteered to pick up their suitcases as Jimin and Taehyung got in the yacht.
“You know, I’ve heard a lot about you from my little bro.” Taehyung said as he took hold of the steering wheel lazily.
“Oh?” Jimin laughed nervously, standing right behind him, “I hope he told you good things about me.”
“On the contrary,” Taehyung said, eyes filled with amusement, “he said that you made his life a living hell.”
One of his eyebrows twitched. “Oh…”
Well, Jimin didn't really know what to expect. A corny love story about how they first met? Their first kiss? Their impressions about each other before and after they fall in love? Sadly, this isn't his love story to begin with, and neither is Jungkook's.
“Yep,” Taehyung said, still ignorant to the change of atmosphere, “and he said that the company would’ve been much better without you around, and - well, I assume you guys fight a lot?"
"You have no Idea."
"Well, I mean, since you've been keeping him away from us forever, you could say I actually hated you for that,” Taehyung said in a joking manner while grinning at Jimin.
Jimin blinked in surprise.
Suddenly it occurred to him, the only time he gave Jungkook a day off was for every time he called in sick or when it’s a public holiday. He always denied his request every time Jungkook asked for a day off on their work days, and he didn’t even considered Jungkook’s family whose living on the other side of the world, wanting to meet their child, but because of Jimin they never got the chance.
"Huh", Jimin mentally thought to himself.
“But hey, I guess I can understand why!” Taehyung exclaimed abruptly, pulling Jimin out of his train of thought. “You want him all to yourself! You’re probably that tsundere type of guy that you can’t speak out what you want and be that annoying character when you’re actually a real cinnamon roll, am I right?”
Jimin was at loss for words. He stood on his ground and stared at Taehyung’s back incredulously. He was about to let off a snarky comment when Jungkook suddenly appeared beside him.
“Alright, ready to go?”
“Sure! I was just having a little chat with my brother-in-law ,” Taehyung winked at Jimin. He's still not used to his new 'status', so hearing it straight from Jungkook's brother made him want to thrash around wildly.
Jungkook rolled his eyes . “Don’t let him get to you Jimin. It’s in his nature to flirt with every single guy he met, even though they’re his brother’s fucking fiance .”
Taehyung’s grin was smug, “jealous, are we?”
“You wish.”
But Jimin didn’t even spare a glance at the younger. He probably didn’t even hear Jungkook and Taehyung’s small banter. He just stood near the edge of the yacht, his mind blank as he stared back at the beach. Jungkook noticed the sudden silence. He approached his boss with silent steps.
“Hey, uh… are you still mad? I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that my brother was the one picking us up-”
"Jeon, please," Jimin cut him off as he side-glanced at Jungkook, "I'm tired, and I just wanna rest. It's been a long day."
It took a few seconds before Jungkook nodded and moved back, "alright, yeah, sorry for caring."
Jimin rolled his eyes as he retreated to a nearby chair.
“Hey, wake up sleepy head!”
Jimin blinked open his eyes. His vision was blurred, but as he rubbed his eyes, he was met with a close-up of Taehyung’s goofy smile.
“AH!”
He jumped from his chair and fell on his butt. Taehyung laughed at his reaction, but Jungkook just rolled his eyes. He walked over to Jimin and help him get on his feet.
“Stop messing around Tae, it’s been a long day and we’re all tired.” Jungkook said tiredly
“Alright, alright,” Taehyung raised both of his hands, “you’re no fun, Jungkook. Just because you have a fiance now doesn’t mean you’re suddenly a grown-up.”
Jungkook scoffed and Jimin rolled his eyes. He’s starting to question whether Taehyung is the younger brother or Jungkook.
Jimin was about to comment a thing or two, but before his mouth could stop him, his brain short-circuited as he caught sight of the scene before him.
It’s a small island, or to be precise, a private island. There stands a two-story house, not too big, but not too small as well. There’s a bridge that connects to another house that is much smaller than the main one. The house was gorgeous, according to Jimin, but what takes the cake was the front yard as well as the scenery.
The house is surrounded by palm trees, their front yard filled with it. There’s a small pier for the yacht to park, but there were other boats as well. The white sand sparkled under the blazing sun, and the water is crystal clear. There’s a fountain just outside the house, and from Jimin’s position he could see a swimming pool on the backyard.
“Whoa” is the word to summarize it all. It took his breath away.
“Glad you enjoyed the view,” Jungkook commented at Jimin’s reaction.
“You didn’t tell me we’re staying at a villa,” Jimin got down from the yacht, impressed with the beautiful scenery. “I could’ve brought my camera along.”
“Oh... uh, we’re not.”
Jimin turned around, “what?”
“Jungkookie!”
Jimin flinched when he heard an unfamiliar voice behind him. His voice is much more deeper than Taehyung’s, and he definitely sound older.
“Dad!”
Jimin's head quickly whipped to the direction where the voice belong to.
‘Dad’ walk past Jimin from behind and embraced Jungkook. Taehyung was watching both father and son sharing a moment beside Jimin, as his lips stretched into a smile. Jimin watched as Jungkook's dad gave an affectionate pat to his back, and he smiled as well. Both were watching the scene before them fondly.
“You've grown so much! You’re getting taller, too!” Jungkook’s dad exclaimed as he ruffled Jungkook’s hair playfully. The brunette grinned as he pushed away his hands.
“Stop, I’m a grown man now!”
He chuckled fondly, “of course, I wouldn’t want to embarrass you in front of your future husband now.”
Jimin quickly straightened his back. He’s finally meeting the man that’s going to approve of their so-called ‘marriage’, so he has to make his first impression good. He’s never done this before - of course he hasn’t, all his previous ‘blind dates’ didn’t even last for a month - so this is definitely a first. He didn’t have the parents to practice with, didn’t have the friends to give him advice, so this is something that he has to experience for himself. He gave off a strained smile.
“H-hello sir, my name is -”
“Park Jimin? Oh, I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Jimin knew he was only teasing, but it made him even more nervous. He could hear Taehyung silently snickering beside him, wishing he could smack the brunette right in the face.
“Oh, uh, yes,” he cleared his throat, “o-of course…?” He didn’t know how to react to that.
Suddenly, the pierced glare turned to a charming eye smile, and Jimin almost sigh in relief.
“Hey, no need to be so tense!” He exclaimed as he slapped Jimin’s arm. Jungkook’s dad then gave him a hand to shake, “we haven’t properly met. I’m Kim Namjoon, but you can call me dad now, I guess,” Jimin’s eye twitched at that, “welcome to the family!”
Jimin nodded, “glad to meet you, sir."
Namjoon instructed Taehyung to bring their suitcases inside. The brunette whined in refusal, but when the older man glared at Taehyung, it instantly shut him up. Jimin and Jungkook declined the offer, but Namjoon insists.
Jungkook sighed in relief as Namjoon led them inside to their humble abode. Both he and Taehyung were discussing at the front, meanwhile Jungkook and Jimin stayed at the back.
"Real smooth, Mr. Park."
Jimin scoffed, "save the sarcasm, Jeon."
From the corner of his eyes, Jungkook could see Jimin biting his lower lip nervously. He's been working with his boss for two years, he's know the older's antics by now. It's no secret that Jimin is a perfectionist in everything he does, so when something doesn't go his way, he'd bite his lower lip as a sign of distress.
"Are re you okay though? I know it's weird and all-"
"I'm fine."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, "really? Because I could clearly hear your distress signals from here, Jimin. Just drop the act and stop being stubborn."
Jimin scoffed, unbelieving. "What did you just call me?"
"I know you Jimin, I've been working for you for two years," Jungkook sigh, "you can just tell me, you know."
Jimin stopped dead in his tracks, his back facing the younger. "Just leave it, Jeon."
Jungkook frowned, "look, I-"
"God, why are you so annoying?" Jimin whirled around, hands clenched to a fist, "why can't you just leave me alone?"
Both of them were dead silent. Jimin staring angrily at the ground, while Jungkook stared at Jimin blankly. Namjoon and Taehyung, blivious to the pair behind them, already went inside.
"... I can't"
"Did you just -"
"I can't, because we're going to be stuck together for the next four fucking days," Jungkook spat.
Jimin didn't budge, but if he were to be honest, he's a little surprised at the sudden change of tone.
After a few seconds Jungkook took a deep breath, his voice went back to its original tone, "look, I know that we have this 'business deal' going on, and I know that you're my boss and all that shit, but hey, newsflash, we're in Busan now, not in fucking New York."
Jimin furrowed his eyebrows, confusion evidently written all over his face, "I... I don't see where this is going-"
"What I've been doing all this time is that I'm trying to treat you as a normal human being! Not as my boss, but, well, what a normal person would!"
Jimin's eyes widened slightly. His teeth unconsciously bit his lower lip for a few seconds. "Your point, Jeon?"
"My point is, you're not always going to always have the upper hand Jimin! You're not always going to be the boss! Back at New York, maybe, but here, you're just like everyone else!" Jungkook panted, as he tried to read Jimin's expression, "here, you're just like Taehyung, my dad, everybody. Here, you're just like me." He said with finality, eyes staring straight to Jimin's.
He opened his mouth to retort back, but stopped halfway, because he knows he couldn't. There's a part of him, hidden underneath for a long, long, time, opened up just a little. He, and Jimin guesses Jungkook too, knew that they're treading on some mighty thin ice here, and Jimin couldn't possibly imagine the outcome of it all. It's something that he promised to his younger self, a rule that can never be broken - at least that's what he convinced himself to be.
"Do what you want."
Jungkook opened his mouth, but Jimin is already turning around. Just in time, Taehyung popped his head out on the front door, waving to both of them. "Hey! What are you two lovebirds doing? Hurry up and get inside! Lunch is ready!"
"Be right there!" Jungkook called out, as Jimin walked ahead.
"Jimin."
He turned around.
They both share a look, but this time it's different. There was no tense atmosphere hanging in the air, no line of curses ready to be spluttered. Just two figures under the blazing sun of Busan - there was no label stating their status as boss and assistant. Jungkook stared intently at Jimin's eyes, as he saw his own reflection staring back through Jimin's eyes. He's finally looking.
Jimin wanted to smile, but he couldn't (later, maybe. Or tomorrow, who knows?). So he nodded instead.

Chapter Text
The more he looked around, the more Jimin felt guilty for burdening Jungkook’s family.
He knew this marriage meant so much to his family (but he doesn't have one, so, 'can't relate'), but he still can’t imagine how important this is that they actually rented a villa for both him and Jungkook - on a private island even.
“I gotta give it to you sir,” Jimin said, his eyes not leaving the chandelier hanging above the dining table, “this place is amazing. The island is really pretty too.”
“Why, thank you Jimin-ssi,” Namjoon smiled, his dimples showing, “it means a lot to me. I designed this house myself, you see.” He said as he touched the wooden walls, wistfully. "It took great lengths to get where we are now, but I'm glad we were able to make the dream house a reality - the island was my wife's idea, though."
But Jimin didn’t pay attention to the wall, nor did he put that much thought about Jungkook’s mother. His mind was too busy rewinding Namjoon’s words inside his head like a broken record.
I designed this house myself…
“I’m relieved. For a moment you wouldn’t enjoy this private island setting - I was going to actually rent you guys a villa!”
Jimin laughed nervously. "Yeah..."
Jungkook’s family is filthy rich!
Jungkook and Taehyung both arrived at the dining table, bringing in two plates filled with food. From the smell of it, Jimin knew it'd be a waste to not finish it.
"Now Jimin, it's family tradition that you must eat at least all of everything served on this table!" Taehyung said while putting down the heave plate.
Jungkook squinted his eyes, "since when was that executed?"
"Just now."
Jimin nodded as he put down his stuff from the table, "if it's family tradition, then I'll do it."
Taehyung's face instantly brightens, "great! Come on Jungkook, help lift more to the table."
"Wait... there's more?"
Jungkook gave Jimin a pitiful look, mouthing a "brace yourself."
Turns out, there were two more bowls and one plate filled with all kinds of Taehyung's homemade cooking, and Jimin couldn't take his eyes off at a particularly greasy dish. He instinctively gulped, suddenly regretting all his life decisions.
Jungkook who was watching the whole ordeal tried to contain his laughter. He actually played a big part in setting up Jimin's healthy meal plan - and this was definitely not one of them. The older was very strict with his diet, and would probably have a mental breakdown if he gained a few pounds than the standard he made for himself. Jungkook shook his head. No, this is not the time to enjoy this. He needs to help him, knowing how important his diet is to him, though it was fun while it lasted.
"Taehyung, don't -"
"This looks delicious, Taehyung-ssi!"
Jungkook stared back at Jimin's strained smile, his jaw slacking. Namjoon rolled his eyes.
Taehyung grinned, "wait till you taste it!"
And the whole time Jungkook watched the older, he didn't even budge from his seat.
"Thanks for earlier."
Jimin stopped wrecking his suitcase, his head turned to the side, "what for?"
"You do realize there's no 'family tradition', right?"
Jimin rolled his eyes as he continued unpacking, "I know Jeon, I'm not five."
Jungkook smiled as he bounced slightly on their bed. Turns out Namjoon bought a new king-sized bed for Jungkook’s room after hearing the news that his son would bring home his fiance. It's not like they would share the bed though, and knowing Jimin, he wouldn’t last two hours sleeping on the floor, so Jungkook declared the floor for his to sleep on. Jimin didn’t argue at all.
"Well, it means a lot to Taehyung, so I'm thanking you on behalf of him."
Jimin scoffed as he stood up. He glared at Jungkook ruining the sheets as he shooed the younger away, "no thanks to you."
"Excuse me?"
“You didn't tell me you were fucking rich?!”
“You didn’t ask,” Jungkook rolled his eyes, preparing his makeshift bed on the floor.
“Well, you could’ve at least warned me! I almost blurted out ‘oh, what a nice villa you have here Namjoon-ssi’, 'gosh, you really don't need to do this, Namjoon-ssi'!” He said in a mocking voice.
“But you didn’t so it’s fine,” Jungkook said with finality as he put down his pillow.
Jimin huffed as he pulled the blankets over his chest. “Okay, so like, what, are you an heir to your father’s multi-billionaire company now?”
“It's true that my dad owns a large company, but I'm not the one taking over. Taehyung is the oldest so he holds the right,” Jungkook answered as he laid his head on his pillow, “besides, I’m adopted, so handling a large company doesn't run in my blood?”
"Of course, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook... how obvious can he get?” Jimin muttered. It doesn't go unheard from Jungkook's ear. “First you own a private island and now you're adopted? You do know there's gonna be questioning on our nex visa interview?"
“I’m not hiding anything,” Jungkook shrug, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, “you just don’t know anything about me - or more like, you never tried to know about me before all this.”
Jimin scoffed.
“And yet I know a lot about you.”
A full moon is displayed outside, the sky is now descending from a dark purple to pitch black. The stars weren’t in sight, but the light of the full moon would compete any other light out there. Jimin turned off the lights, as the moon serves as the only light in the room.
“Really? What do I hate the most?”
“Mangoes - you despise them. When someone's late. When it's raining on Saturdays, and when they cut off your salary - you hate a lot of things, actually.”
Jimin scrunched his nose, “what is my secret that our company doesn’t know about?”
“It wouldn’t be a secret if I knew now, would it?”
“Ah, you’re right -”
“Unfortunately for you, I know you take contemporary dance class every Sunday, you have a calico cat at your home who you call ‘Nivea’ even though it's not allowed in your apartment, and you have a tattoo on your left shoulder, which explains why you always decline every time there's a get-together on the beach.”
“... huh."
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Scary, I know."
“Well... since you know a lot about me, freaky as it is," Jimin said after a few minutes of silence, “tell me all about yourself.”
The question itself sounds alien coming from his own boss, but Jungkook thinks he could get used to this.
“Well, you know my family. My dad is Kim Namjoon and my brother is Kim Taehyung. I'm not into the whole taking over my family's surname - but yeah there's a whole episode for that at a later time. I didn’t get to meet my step-mom since I was adopted after she passed away, but I heard from Tae that she’s a very beautiful woman. I like all kinds of sports, but recently I’m into bowling. I’m also into outdoor activities like hiking, camping, uh, surfing, bungee jumping, all those stuff-”
Jungkook stopped for a moment.
“What?” Jimin asks, annoyed.
“Oh, I thought you were sleeping.”
“Well that would be rude of me.”
“Not surprising, coming from you.”
Jimin frowned. “Excuse me?”
“Sorry, didn’t mean to offend you, I was only stating the truth.”
It was silent for a long time, and for some reason the younger was getting nervous. Jungkook finally took the courage to peek at Jimin, his brain telling him that he’s probably asleep.
The raven haired keeps his gaze fixed on the scenery outside, the full moon’s light reflected on his face, carving a spot on his eyes, his lips, his entire face. A few strands of his hair fell, almost covering his eyes. Jungkook stared at him, unsure whether he should be in awe or nervous.
“Is that how everybody sees me?”
“Huh?”
Finally, the older looked back at Jungkook, and for the first time he didn’t see his boss’ cold exterior. There wasn’t any authority, there wasn’t dominance hidden behind those glassy orbs. He looked at the younger innocently, his gaze sincere. He looked so fragile, so vulnerable, and Jungkook has never seen Jimin in this state before. It left him speechless.
“... Jimin-”
“Just kidding!”
“Huh?”
But before Jungkook could read Jimin’s face, the raven haired quickly turned around and covered his entire face with his blanket.
“I’m tired. Good night Jeon.” His voice was muffled out, but Jungkook could clearly hear the desperation in his voice.
Jungkook just stared at Jimin with a blank gaze. They were actually heading somewhere, but every time when the topic about Jimin comes up, he would always close himself, and they were back to square one.
The brunette frowned. He was about to bring up that topic again, to explain Jimin what he really felt, but his gaze fell on the wall clock. It’s already 1 AM, and Jimin’s probably very tired. So he ignored his pursuit and went back to his ‘bed’.
“Good night, Jimin.”
A soft thud from the door was heard, but Jimin could hear it very clearly. His eyes flew open as he instinctively searched for Jungkook. He quickly reach the far end of the bed, and turns out the younger is still fast asleep, looking way more peaceful than Jimin who's sleeping in the king-sized bed.
Not for long, he thought as he took a pillow and threw it on his face.
“The fuck!”
“There’s someone at the door! I think it’s your brother!” Jimin whispered hastily, shooting fingers to the door.
The knock then came back, louder this time, followed by a muffled sound.
“Jungkook? Jimin? You guys awake?”
Jungkook widened his eyes, but Jimin is quicker to react. He pulled at Jungkook’s covers and pillows, throwing it to the bed. “Get up there! He can’t see you sleeping on the floor!”
Jungkook quickly jumped on the bed and was about to dive in the covers when a thought slipped in his head. He halted whatever he’s doing and pulled his shirt over his head. Jimin panicked.
“Why are you taking your shirt off?!”
Only then did Jungkook dive inside his covers as he rapidly waved his hand for Jimin to lay down next to him. “To make it look more realistic. Now get your ass in here!”
Jimin was about to protest, but the announcement of Taehyung to come inside their room pushed away all those negative thoughts.
"Ah, fuck it," he muttered, as he dive in to the covers as he laid back next to his assistant.
Jimin hid his head on Jungkook’s neck, and he pretended not to notice the younger tensing under him.
Suddenly the door opened abruptly. Taehyung, like the ball of sunshine he is, jumped inside the room, wearing an apron while holding up a spatula. “Breakfast is ready!”
Jungkook rubbed his eyes sleepily as he yawned for effect. Jimin stayed in his position, not wanting to ruin it, since he knows how bad he is in acting.
“Ugh, you guys are so gross. I can’t believe you did the do last night while we were sleeping.”
Jimin flinched, but Jungkook keep being casual about it as he responded by throwing a pillow at Taehyung. It hit his stomach.
"Oof."
“Shut up.”
“Breakfast is ready, so if you two lovebirds care about your stomach more than other… organs, then I suggest you go down right now.” Taehyung rolled his eyes as he rubbed his stomach annoyingly, and left, not as enthusiastic when he was entering their room.
Both of them sighed in relief. After a few seconds, they both finally realized the situation they're currently in. Jimin quickly detangled himself off of Jungkook. He then cleared his throat awkwardly as he pushed back his hair.
“Um, we should get down, so...”
“Yeah, sure,” Jungkook said as he took his shirt on the floor, suddenly feeling embarrassed, “let me just go to the toilet real quick.”
“Okay.”
Breakfast felt excruciatingly long for Jimin, but Jungkook was having the time of his life.
Two of Namjoon’s friends came over to join breakfast with them. Turns out both of them are a couple, and Jimin thought they both looked really good together. He'd actually enjoyed their company if it weren't for the fact that there are more people Jimin needed to impress for the sake of their marriage.
“You’ve certainly grown taller, Jungkook!” The guy named Jackson Wang said. His name reminded Jimin of another Wang back at the office, but he pushed the thought away, not wanting the negative vibes to ruin his morning. “You’re going to surpass Namjoon in no time!”
“Even Taehyung hasn't reach that level yet,” his partner, who goes by the name Mark Tuan, teased.
Taehyung scoffed, “I’m definitely more handsome than muscle pig over there!”
“I’m sure Jimin would say otherwise,” Mark answered suggestively. Jimin pretended to be flustered as he laugh nervously, his fork gently stabbing his food.
“Stop bothering us, we just got here and we’re tired as hell.” Jungkook said as he took a spoonful of his food.
“Considering what you guys did last night, I’m not surprised.” Taehyung added helpfully. The reaction that he got was satisfying enough. Jungkook choked on his food with wide eyes, while Jimin dropped his fork, his face void from any emotions.
Everyone present at dining table laughed at them, loving their flustered reactions.
“Alright, alright, that’s enough,” Namjoon said, declaring his presence as the alpha of the house as he entered the dining room. Peace has been restored with a plate of freshly baked pancakes (although Jackson is still gasping for air).
“Damn, newlyweds are so cute,” Mark slapped Jackson’s arm, “we should be like them, only cuter.”
It was intended as a joke, but Jackson flinched as those words came out of his boyfriend's mouth. Taehyung rolled his eyes at them. Mark’s been dropping so much hints the past few weeks yet Jackson’s too much of a coward to take a step forward.
Jimin was the one to break the unwillingly awkward atmosphere. “Um… we’re not married yet.”
“Ah, I see… so when’s the big day?”
“Um…” Jimin glanced at Jungkook, asking for help, but the younger is more invested in hearing Jimin's response rather than helping him out.
Jimin kicked Jungkook underneath the table as Jungkook winced in silence, his head slightly bowing.
"Thought you guys would get married before Taehyung gets sent off!" Jackson exclaimed, Mark nodded along.
“Um, we’ve still got a lot to discuss-”
“Yeah, why don’t you guys get married here? At least before I go!” Taehyung cut Jimin off excitedly.
Jungkook and Jimin shared a look.
“That’s a great idea!” Namjoon joined in. “Your grandma is coming tomorrow, and I'm sure she'll be happy to attend her grandson's wedding!"
Jimin's eyes were frantically moving from Taehyung to Namjoon, "um, I don't think-"
“The whole family should come!” Jackson exclaimed, “there’s going to be two parties then! The wedding ceremony, and then the after-party would be for Taehyung!”
"That's perfect!" Taehyung joined, sharing the same enthusiasm. Both of them were already discussing with Namjoon
“What do you say, Jungkook? Jimin?” Mark asks.
Both of them shared a look. Jimin's panicked ones meet Jungkook's confused ones. It all happened too fast. They literally woke up to the discussion of their own wedding plan, and Jimin has never been so overwhelmed this early before.
Jungkook gave him a look, saying that he'd roll with whatever Jimin decides. Besides, he’s the one who proposed this crazy plan, so he’s responsible for taking the shots. Jimin knows this, but for some reason it’s more nerve-wrecking than he initially thought.
“Um… uh, yeah, sure - a-alright.”
Everybody looked ecstatic, but the soon-to-be husbands unfortunately couldn't share the enthusiasm.
"Don't worry you guys, no need to hire a wedding planner! Mark and I got it covered," Jackson assured, as he patted Jungkook's shoulder.
"Are you sure Jackson? We don't want to be a bother to you guys," Namjoon said, taking in Jungkook's place.
"Namjoon, after what you've done for us, we owe your family just as much," Mark reassured as he smiled to Namjoon.
"This is going to be my last favor to you before I go to the military, you know," Taehyung nudged at Jungkook's side, "so leave the outfits to me! I'll make sure you guys wear the best designer-made outfit, all of Busan would be amazed."
"Tae..." Jungkook's large orbs felt glassy for some reason.
Jimin couldn't help but feel a slight tug in his chest. The other part of him thinks that the faster they get married, the easir his visa would be done and the faster he'll go to the business trip. But another part of him is taking him to another guilt trip, especially when he saw Jungkook almost in tears at his brother's help. He couldn't help but want to scream at them, saying 'this is all fake!', but no, he wouldn't do that. He wouldn't let him do it. Jungkook wouldn't let him as well.
So the only thing the raven haired could do is just smile, all the while biting his bottom lip.

[edited: 14/06/18]
Fun fact, there's actually a deleted scene in this chapter. Theres this certain scene where jimin and namjoon has the talk™ on the beach and it got pretty deep. I got emotional writing it since its from my personal experience as well, but then i thought that it was too fast-paced so i deleted it. I wanted to focus on jikooks relationship first, then throw in the emotional stuff, and I also wanna focus on the character development. That emotional scene was spontaneous, like i thought abt it right on the spot and i couldn’t help but type it asap.
Okay that was a long rant, im sorry. Anyhow thank u so much to everyone who commented and gave kudos, as well as those who subscribed! Pls do tell me tips so that i can improve more in my writing! Love you!!

Chapter Text
“You’re getting married in three days?!”
Jungkook flinched when the sound blasted from his phone’s speaker.
The plans for their marriage were really unexpected, but Jungkook knew he couldn’t say no to that. He didn’t have the heart too. How could he, when he’s home every three years, and now his brother will be sent off to the military. Getting married before his departure was the least Jungkook could do for his family.
Both Jimin and Jungkook decided that it’s best for the company to know about their marriage.
It would be a pain to avoid curious eyes glancing on their matching rings when they got back, and frankly Jimin doesn’t like it when it’s troublesome. The plan is simple. Jimin will call his boss, as well as asking permission to take the day-off, while Jungkook informs his co-workers. Initially, they were planning to come back on monday and discuss things thoroughly, while planning their fake marriage. Unfortunately, the sudden change of plans definitely caught both of them off-guard. Jungkook though, took it calmly, while Jimin is having a crisis.
“Yugyeom, please, not so loud,” Jungkook half-whispered, although there’s literally nobody but him on his family’s private beach.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner, man! I could’ve save some money for my suit!” Yugyeom whined from the other side.
“Well, we were not expecting it as well.”
“I didn’t expect you and Jimin to actually date, let alone engaged ! Why do I feel like I’m missing something here, but I don’t know what…”
“Uh, I think it’s better if you don’t think too much about it.” Jungkook said hurriedly.
“So, who’s gonna be your best man?”
“Um, I was hoping it’d be y-”
“ ME ? Psh, why didn’t you say it sooner?! I’d be happy to be your best man! Say no more Kookie, I will be the first one to arrive at the ceremony!”
Jungkook rolled his eyes, “okay, first of all, remind me why are we friends again? Second, no, you can’t be ‘the first one to arrive at the ceremony’, you’re supposed to be here the day before the ceremony! So I need your ass here on tuesday!”
“Oh yeah, that’s a great excuse! That way I can take 2 days off of work! Nice thinking, Kook!”
“I WASN’T PROPOSING AN IDEA, THAT’S JUST HOW THIS SHIT WORKS!”
Jungkook came back with an exasperated look.
“So, did they take it well?”
“ Too well,” Jungkook rolled his eyes.
Jimin is sitting in the living room, reading one of Taehyung’s endless collections of magazines. Jungkook plopped himself down next to Jimin, his arms resting behind the couch as he threw his head back, jaw slacking. Jimin rolled his eyes as he continued reading his magazine.
“What did your boss say about it?” Jungkook asks after a few seconds.
“Same, I guess. They sound suspiciously too happy ,” Jimin said, making a disgusted face.
“And what about that interview? It’s scheduled on monday, right?”
“Well, he didn’t say a specific date, but he did say next week,” Jimin flipped a page, “don’t worry, we’ll be married when we meet him, so that should make his job a lot easier - us as well.”
“If you say so,” Jungkook shrug, “are you okay, by the way?”
“Why wouldn’t I be,” Jimin said, a little hurriedly.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, sensing that his boss is definitely not okay . He knows when something isn’t going according to his plan, a tantrum is to be expected from the raven haired. He nay look perfectly calm on the outside, but Jungkook could see by the little twitches of his fingers as well as the rapid bumping of his leg to the table, Jungkook knows that he is not okay.
“By the way, where is everyone?”
Jimin stopped all his movements as he tried to recall his memory, “um, Namjoon said he’s going to meet another client, and Taehyung said something about grocery shopping? Or something.”
“Oh,” Jungkook muttered as he continued to stare aimlessly at the ceiling, while the sound of flipping pages comforted him.
“So, what’s our agenda for today, Jungkook-ssi?”
“To be honest, I just wanna go back,” Jungkook muttered.
“But you’re already home?”
“You know what I mean.”
“Aren’t you glad to be back with your family?” Jimin asks while peeking a little behind his magazine.
Jungkook didn’t answer, rather he stared blankly at pretty much nothing.
Jimin shrug as he refocuses back to his magazine, “well, the feeling is mutual, really. I just wanna get off this island today, knowing that I’m going to get married in three days.”
Jungkook pondered over Jimin’s words. To be honest, he’s also nervous about everything. He’s nervous whether the marriage would be a success or called off, he’s nervous about Jimin’s visa interview, nervous about his family finding out, nervous about Jimin and himself. He’s never an expert in lying, and this is one of his biggest crimes yet. Not to mention Taehyung is planning on inviting the whole family to come, as witness to Jungkook and Jimin’s vow, a promise of a lifetime, a promise of forever.
Blame him for being a sap, but he used to dream about his wedding day. He just didn’t expect it to be like this.
He bit his lower lip. “I’m nervous,” he finally blurted out, unashamed, “and I’m scared, and I don’t know whether this plan is going to work out or not.” He said, his gaze fixed on the ceiling.
Jimin finally put down his magazine to look at Jungkook. His eyes were unreadable, and his movements were awkward. It looked obvious he wanted to comfort the younger, but unsure of what to do.
“Just leave it to me.” He said shortly, eyes still fixated in his magazine.
Jungkook smiled at the simple yet calming reassurance. Ever since they step out of the airport, Jungkook is starting to see different sides of his boss that he never knew he had for the past two years. He’s starting to feel closer to the man whom he’d admired, but couldn’t before, because of the way he treats people. Now, he seems softer, more approachable.
He knows it’s probably because they’re surrounded by Jungkook’s family, and Jimin had to make a good first impression. Jungkook didn’t mind, honestly, as long as he get to enjoy these moments with Jimin.
“Hey, let’s go on a trip today.”
They’ve been surrounded by palm trees and sand for two days, Jimin forgot what it’s like to be in the city once again. He didn’t realize he’d miss it until now. The bustling sound of pedestrians walking in a big crowd, the honking of vehicles and the smell of pollution. He missed it, but he didn’t realize that it was like this . He never paid attention to his surroundings, since he’s always too engrossed with his agenda for the day. He didn’t notice the smell of sewer, the beggars lying on the floor, the sick mix of sweat and overly sweet perfume in the air - he never notice it before. He wondered what else did he not notice.
They took a train to Busan station, and continued to walk from there to a bus stop nearby. A lot of bus have already stopped, but Jungkook didn’t instruct them to ride any of those. Jimin almost yells in protest, not bearing the uncomfortable smell and of atmosphere of the busy city. Jungkook wanted to keep it as a surprise, but Jimin’s too pissed off to care about it.
“Ah, there it is,” Jungkook said, and Jimin quickly turned around, curious to what’s taking the bus so long to get there.
“ Busan City Tour ? Really Jeon?” Jimin said, unimpressed clear on his face.
But Jungkook, used to his boss’ disappointed face, brushed it off, “come on, I told you I wanted to show you around! This is the easiest way!” He quickly pulled both of them inside, as they took the top floor, the outdoor floor of the bus. They sat at the most back, and Jungkook said with this they got to see the scenery longer. Jimin rolled his eyes at the childish statement.
After a few minutes, the bus began to move, and a few people the same floor as them are already whipping out their cameras and whooping to the air. Jimin watched the scene unfold with a poker face, while Jungkook joins in on the fun, recording their current location and posting it on social media.
“Where are we going?”
“I was thinking we should go shopping first?” Jungkook suggested as he held up the map.
Jimin shrug, seeming to not care about it, although the idea of shopping lighten up his mood a little. He wouldn’t show it, though.
It took them half an hour to reach the shopping district, and Jungkook has been filming their surroundings non-stop. Jungkook even offered to take a picture of Jimin, but before he could finish his sentence Jimin already said no. Although Jimin would agree that Busan is a wonderful city.
“When was the last time you came here?” Jimin asks, since this is already the 7th time Jungkook turned on his phone again to record the scenery before them.
“Three years ago,” he answered casually, still focused on his phone.
“Ah, I should’ve brought my camera along!” Jungkook whined, but Jimin’s ears were clogged up. He was staring at his feet, lost in his own thoughts. Guilt started to burn on his insides as the thought of Jungkook being in his hometown was three years ago, a year before they started working together. That means that ever since Jungkook’s been working with Jimin, he hasn’t come home since.
“Why do I feel like throwing up,” Jimin muttered, and he didn’t expect his colleague to hear it.
“Stop looking down too long, it’ll cause you motion sickness,” Jungkook instructed as he put down his phone, “you should look at the scenery more rather than looking down, hyung.”
Jimin widened his eyes as stared at Jungkook in surprise. Jungkook looked confused for a moment, but then he got flustered, realizing his slip-up. “Oh! Um, sorry, I - it’s just that since we’re in Busan and all, and - well -”
Jungkook didn’t even know why he was apologizing, as he tried to examine Jimin’s expression. Unfortunately, Jimin didn’t look like he was fine with Jungkook’s slip-up. His eyebrows are still knitted, and he still hold the same frown.
“Don’t call me that.”
“...I’m sorry…”
They were silent throughout the whole ride.
“This is delicious!”
Jungkook whipped his head to see Jimin munching on one of the testers. His eyes were sparkling, and his mouth was drooling for more. When he noticed the younger staring at him, he quickly changed to his calm demeanor as he cleared his throat.
Jungkook rolled his eyes as walk towards the stall. “Ahjussi, how much is this?”
“Ah! Only 5000 won, mister! I’ll give you a discount if you buy two boxes!”
“Great, we’ll take two,” Jungkook handed the money.
Jimin raised a questioning brow, “I don’t need you to pay it for me.”
“Who said I’m buying this for you?”
Jimin scoffed, offended and flustered at the same time. “Wha-!”
“Here ya go!”
Jungkook nodded as he took the plastic bag, “thank you!” He turned around, took one out to put it inside his bag, and handed to plastic bag to Jimin, “here.”
Jimin frowned as he took the plastic bag from Jungkook’s hands. When the saw the older pouted, Jungkook tried to hold back his laughter. Turns out his boss was easy to tease.
They just got back from their shopping spree, and now they’re walking around food alleys, looking at street food. It was getting darker, and both of them agreed not to go back when it’s dark, especially when they still have to ride the yacht back to the island. Jimin didn’t want to know what lurks around in the ocean at night. He still has a wedding to attend to, thank you very much.
“Are you sure you can carry all that on your own?” Jungkook asks as both of them waited for the bus.
Jimin scoff as he was obviously struggling to carry all his things. Blame him for being too excited when he’s shopping, but this was too much. Jimin only nodded as he tried to move a few things and combine them with other souvenirs so that way he won’t have to carry a lot of bags. Still, it looked way too heavy for Jungkook’s boss, so he rolled his eyes as he took one of them.
Jimin frowned but didn’t say anything as both of them waited under the dim light of the bus stop.
“Jungkook, is that you?”
Both heads turned around in surprise.
Jimin watched in confusion at the stranger. He wore leather jacket, ripped jeans, and too much piercings in his ear - much to Jimin’s dislike. He also dyed his hair a neon green, and for some reason it suited him. Jimin would’ve mistook the stranger as a someone dangerous, if it weren’t for the fact that he knew Jungkook’s name. Jimin turned his head to give Jungkook a questioning glance, but the younger kept on staring at the stranger before them.
“Yoongi hyung?!”
The stranger, now known as Yoongi, grinned widely, as relief washed over his face. It was apparent that he didn’t notice Jimin, as he walk towards Jungkook and gave him an all-too-friendly hug.
“Wah, it’s been so long! How are you!” Yoongi exclaimed as he pulled away from their hug, his hands still gripping Jungkook’s biceps.
The smile adorning Jungkook’s face was sincere, “wha - I’m fine! Great, actually!”
Jimin cleared his throat as his presence was suddenly noticed by Yoongi. Surprisingly, there wasn’t confusion written in his face as he gave Jimin a friendly smile, “and you must be Jimin! I heard a lot about you from Taehyung and Namjoon!”
Jimin nodded as he gave Yoongi his reserved smile for Jungkook’s peers, “nice to meet you too.” He gave Jungkook a questioning glare, confused what he should refer Yoongi as.
“Although, I didn’t get a proper introduction from the groom,” Yoongi said, amused at Jimin’s obvious confusion.
Jungkook widened his eyes, finally brought out of his stupor. “Oh! Sorry, um,” Jungkook rest his hand on Jimin’s back automatically - Jimin flinched - “Yoongi, this is Park Jimin, my soon-to-be spouse.”
Jimin rolled his eyes as Yoongi nodded at Jimin’s direction.
“And Jimin, this is Yoongi, my ex-boyfriend.”
Notes:
