Work Text:
"After school, wanna go hiking?" Kirishima asked Bakugou at the end of lunch
"I have homework, why would I be hiking anyway?"
"Come on, we've got the whole weekend to do our homework."
"We've also got the whole weekend to go hiking."
"So we can do it on Saturday."
"Whatever, I'll see you there. 11 AM sharp. Don't be late." Bakugou said stubbornly.
Eventually, Saturday morning arrived. Bakugou had already arrived at the foot of the mountain by 11:15 and waited for Kirishima, who arrived at 11:26.
"Good morning," Kirishima waved
"Let's get started before some extras arrive and find my secret trail," Bakugou waves him along up the trail.
"Your secret trail?"
"I have a secret trail I've been using for years. It avoids all the dumbass lowlives that make me go slower. If you slow me down I'll just leave you behind too. Now come on."
Kirishima speedwalks to catch up with Bakugou until they eventually settle into the same pace.
"You walk quite fast, y'know," he chuckles, "How do you do it?"
"It's something called being athletic. You should try it." Bakugou shrugs.
"I'm athletic!" Kirishima runs slightly ahead of Bakugou, "See? I can be athletic. Even more than you"
"Shut up," Bakugou stomps slightly to catch up to him, "You should be glad I'm not kicking your ass for walking in front of me."
"Oh really?" Kirishima challenges.
"You're just begging to be beat," He rolls his eyes.
"As if I'd beg to be beat," he smirks
Bakugou pushes him slightly off balance, "Not by me, shitty hair."
Kirishima tried to hold in a laugh at that one. It wasn't even too funny, but it sounded pretty suggestive to him.
And Bakugou didn't even think twice about it.
They continued up the mountain in comfortable silence for awhile until they reached a bunch of bushes.
"What's this?" Kirishima looks at the wall of brush, "There's no way around them. Seriously?"
"You're supposed to go through the bushes, not around them." He walks up to two and blows them apart, "Come on, haven't you ever been hiking before?"
"Yeah; but I don't do it off of the standardized trails."
"It's better when you go off trail. There's more goodies here than on the trail. Trails are for lazy people anyway."
"Hey!"
"You can be lazy too, idiot. Why don't you study on your own? Because you're lazy." Bakugou sighs"No, because you're a natural genius and my last 4 braincells are working very hard to catch up to that," He chuckles, "Maybe one day I'll absorb what you have," he smiles, "Alright, lighten up. Why did the chicken cross the road?"
"To get to the other side. You think I'm here for children's jokes?" Bakugou rolls his eyes.
"Fine how about... You're faced with me plus 4 clones of me. How do you find which one of the clones is me?
"I'd put my hand out to blast each of them and whichever one doesn't harden and knows I'm joking is you. Duh." He shrugs, "And if that doesn't work, I'll ask each which subject you're the worst in. Hopefully you would answer correctly with Algebra.
You're pretty predictable."
"I'm not predictable," Kirishima crosses his arms.
Bakugou pretends to go to blast him and he jumps back.
"Just proved my point. I knew you'd jump back but you never actually harden."
"Because I know you'd never actually hit me." He smirks
"Well I will if you keep thinking I won't, idiot!" He turns to him, "You're slowing down. We're almost at the peak."
Kirishima's eyes light up, "Really?"
"No. We're almost to where we're stopping for lunch." Bakugou looks up the mountain, "See that clearing? Right there."
Kirishima picked up the pace. He was already getting pretty hungry, but he was more concerned with keeping up with Bakugou than eating.
"We're here." Bakugou sat on a rock and set his backpack down, "It's quiet here, don't you think?"
"Odd for two people as loud as us to actually enjoy. But yeah, I like this quiet." he smiles
"Watch this," He gets up and walks towards a strawberry bush. Kirishima follows along and goes to grab a few.
"Those on top aren't the best. The best," Bakugou reaches just past Kirishima and picks a few, "Are these."
Kirishima tried not to turn as red as a berry. Bakugou never got this close physically with people, but there he was, leaning on him and picking strawberries. And God, was it cute.
He froze in his tracks and looked up to him.
They were so close. He could go on his tip-toes just a little bit and kiss him.
Forget about the strawberries, forget about the hike, just him and Bakugou.
Even if that would mean sprinting down the hill at full speed away from his wrath.
Oh how tempting it was.
But Bakugou put a few strawberries into his container and waited for Kirishima to place his in there too.
"You done yet? Or are you going to be picking that strawberry in slow motion the rest of the time?" Bakugou says impatiently.
"Sorry!" Kirishima blurts out, "Let's go eat these."
They take the container to the rock and set it down to eat lunch.
"Catch this in your mouth!" Kirishima throws a strawberry at him. Bakugou catches it, "Ha! Your turn!"
Bakugou throws 2 strawberries at Kirishima and he also catches both, "Way to one up me, hit me with three!"
Kirishima throws three to Bakugou, and he catches most of them, "That was easy."
Kirishima got 4 thrown at him and caught only 3.
Surprisingly, Bakugou laughed at him for that. Mostly because as he tried to catch them he was running around with his mouth open like a fish gasping for water.
"You literally never laugh, am I really that funny?" Kirishima says, laughing as he throws it back at Bakugou.
Bakugou simply lets it bounce off him and continued laughing. Nobody had really seen Bakugou laugh as hard as he did. As a matter of fact, it was only the third
time even Kirishima had caught him laughing. But his laugh was hypnotizing. His laugh was a rare but beautiful thing to hear. Kirishima blushed before stealing one of his veggie sticks.
"That's mine!" He attempted to grab at it before just letting him take it, "I can't help that you can be a funny guy when you want to be," He rolls his eyes, "Let's continue, the summit isn't too far."
"Why don't you laugh more often? It shows humbleness." Kirishima asks
"And it also shows weakness. Plus it's not really my thing. You've known me long enough to know that." Bakugou sighs, "It's whatever. It's not too important, and it's not like I'm not okay with you seeing me laugh. We're close enough that you know just how to if you wanted to."
And I'd love to make you laugh more if I got to see your true smile more often, Kirishima thought.
"What'd you say, punk?" Bakugou turned around, hearing Kirishima mumble to himself.
"Nothing! Just taking in the view." Kirishima stammers
"Catch up, we've gotta get there before the sunset," Bakugou slows down slightly for him to catch up.
"Why?"
"Just follow me. You'll see. We've got 10 minutes."
"What'll happen then?" Kirishima picks up his pace slightly. Bakugou simply silently continued up the hill.
He was a man with a plan. And he was determined for everything to go just right, down to the minute.
They eventually reached the summit just in time, and Bakugou sat on a rock on the edge, with Kirishima sitting by his side.
"Here?" Kirishima looks around, "A rock. You insisted on going to the summit for... a rock?"
"It's not just a rock. It's special."
"Why?"
"Don't move, alright," Bakugou puts his hand on the rock.
"What are you doing?"
"Something. I hope you like it," Bakugou moves his hand onto Kirishimas thigh to lean on it.
"Hm?" Kirishima's eyes widen.
And then Bakugou kisses him. He kisses him like he's never kissed anybody before. Because he hasn't.
Kirishima gasps as he closes the gap. Bakugou was an aggressive kisser- the type the sweeps you off balance and makes you forget everything that's going on around you.
"Bakugou..." He looks to Bakugou, "You taste like strawberries.”
"You do too," Bakugou whispers, "I see how you blush at me and... I feel the same."
"How'd you know?" He whispers
"I see that gleam in your eyes and... I started letting you get away with stuff and..."
"Now you've fallen for me?"
"Yeah. I guess I have"
Kirishima tried not to turn as red as a berry. Bakugou never got this close physically with people, but there he was, leaning on him and picking strawberries. And God, was it cute.
