Chapter 1: Justice and the Sun
Chapter Text
When Alya learned that Lila was in fact lying about being the harvest goddess she was aghast. Surely the titans were kidding. And then insinuating she wasn’t doing her job correctly was the icing on the cake. Lila was her friend and there was barely any evidence proving that Lila wasn’t the harvest goddess. Why would she give someone a harsh punishment when there’s no evidence they did anything wrong? Her anger was then replaced with embarrassment when it became clear that Lila was in fact lying about everything. And then finally guilt when Marinette was revealed to be the true harvest goddess. Marinette, her best friend. She didn’t even realize Marinette was gone.
Alya stepped forward, but stopped when Marinette spoke. On the surface her requests were reasonable, but Adrien needed to marry her and to just cut people out seemed a little harsh. As the two vanished, she realized something else. She never did visit Marinette when Lila was around did she? She sighed and glanced at some of the other deities. Some looked just as guilty as she had, but one stuck out Adrien. He wasn’t guilty. More shocked really. She briskly walked over to the sun god. “You didn’t know about this?” She hissed.
“That Lila was lying? No.”
“Not that. Marinette.”
“No.”
“I think you’re lying.”
“Why would I lie? If I knew that Marinette was the true harvest goddess I would’ve spoken up immediately.”
“Everyone can leave. We need to decide if anyone is getting punished outside of Lila.” Plagg said, bored. “We’ll call you if we need to talk.” Alya paled, but left with the others, returning to her room. They were going to punish them? For what? They weren’t the ones lying. You also didn’t question anything . A nasty voice said in her head. You blindly followed her without stopping to think. Alya bit her lip. She hated to admit it, but the voice was right. She just hoped her punishment wouldn’t be to awful.
—————
Ever since Adrien was declared god of the sun, he was expected to marry the harvest goddess and live happily ever after. He had his ideas of who it could be, but none of those thoughts included Lila. But if that was the case, so be it. But then Marinette went missing. To be honest, one of the first people that came to his mind as the harvest goddess, Marinette was one of them. Her nervous stuttering was endearing and her eyes would light up when she was talking about something she was passionate about. He did visit her parents house but they only said she was out. He hid his disappointment and thanked them for letting him know she was okay. So when the Marinette looked the titans in the eye, as the harvest goddess, he was taken aback. The shock then faded into a dull throb of pain. She was the harvest goddess and she was married. He took a deep breath, letting the feelings flow away. “Did you know about this?” Alya hissed. When had she moved?
“About Lila lying? No.”
“Not that. Marinette.”
“No.”
“I think you’re lying.”
“Why would I lie? If I knew that Marinette was the true harvest goddess I would’ve spoken up immediately.” Adrien looked over and opened his mouth only to close it as Plagg spoke. The deities left, per request, and Adrien waited.
“You haven’t left Adrien.”
“You’ll honour the marriage right? Like she asked.”
“Yes. Why?”
“Just making sure.” He looked away. “She deserves to be happy. Especially with what she’ll have to go through.” Adrien soon left the hall and returned to his room. Marinette would be back in a week. He needed to apologize to her. And help her with her situation. He was determined to get his letter to Marinette, no matter the circumstances.

She had fallen again. Felix watched from the cloud he was on, his eyes following the dark haired girl as she pushed herself back up, brushing flower petals from her hair and chiton. “You’re staring~” a feminine voice cooed.
“She barely has any control over her powers Aurore. I just want to make sure she doesn’t destroy the flower field.”
“You’re so cute Fefe. Denying your feelings like this.” Aurore replied. “Just go down there and talk to her. Or maybe offer to help her with whatever she’s doing so she doesn’t ‘destroy the flower field.’”
“You’re awful.”
“I love you too Fefe. Now talk to her or stop staring. It’s creepy.” An embarrassed blush ran up his cheeks. He was so busy trying to ignore what Aurore said, he didn’t notice the dark haired girl looking up at the clouds. Specifically the one with the blonde haired boy she admired.
–––––––––––
She was seated at a table, barely registering the meeting in front of her. He heard a snicker from Aurore before being pushed over to the black haired girl, his nectar spilling on the floor. “Are you okay?” She inquired quietly. “I hope it wasn’t my fault.”
“It wasn’t.” Felix looked over and glared at Aurore.
“Thank the titans for that.” She looked at the group before back at him. “I don’t really care about this and I don’t think you do either. Wanna ditch with me? I’m sure your blonde friend will fill us in.” Felix wanted to say no, but found he couldn’t.
“I suppose we could.” The girl beamed before taking his hand and pulling him out of the Capitol and jumping off the cloud into the earth below.
“Why didn’t you stop to grab winged sandals?” He yelped.
“They don’t work for me, but I found that this area has the least amount of damage.” She grinned once more. “And I have ambrosia cookies just in case.”
“I-I’m Felix.” She smiled sweetly.
“I know. I’m Marinette.” He focused before blowing a wind in their direction, breaking the fall. Felix was a flurry of emotions. On the other hand the girl, Marinette, was laughing her adrenaline off. The sun’s rays highlighted made her hair’s highlights look blue. “See?” She leaned in closely. “It wasn’t so bad.”
“Yeah. It wasn’t so bad.”
Marinette stood up and dusted her chiton off. “Have you ever visited the towns?”
“I’ve looked above them but I’ve never visited one.”
“Perfect. We’ll do that then.” She looked over and grinned. The same way she did getting her domain. Felix never really paid attention to domain ceremonies, even his. But hers was odd. She was so excited to learn her domain it was infectious. But once she was deemed the goddess of misfortune, she was always alone.
“If you don’t mind me asking Lady Marinette, but how come you’ve never invited your friends out?”
“You don’t need to call me lady.” She replied before sighing softly. “When they learned I was the goddess of misfortune, a lot of my friends left me thinking my bad luck would affect them. So they left.”
“That’s idiotic.” He retorted bluntly. “They believe that unfriending a goddess of misfortune means their less likely to suffer.”
“That’s what I thought. Didn’t help that Lady Lila decided to run her big mouth and tarnish my reputation even more.” Felix patted her shoulder.
“Well I’ll be happy to be your friend La-“ he cleared his throat. “Marinette. I usually spend time on a cloud so I’m always free for town exploring.”
“Speaking of which, you need to hide your godly gleam. I don’t want to be worshiped while looking at shawls.” Felix chuckled.
“Pity. You could get those shawls for free.” But nonetheless, he glamoured himself, the ethereal lustre to his skin fading away.
“And alert the titans to our disappearing act? I don’t think so.” She linked her hand with his and pulled him towards the town.
They did a lot that day but when Felix thinks back on his time in the town, all he can recall is the smell of baked goods and Marinette’s smile illuminated by the sun.
–––––––––––
Felix never tells Aurore about his time with Marinette. Only that she’s who he’s spending time with. So it surprised him when he uttered something he never thought he would say. “I think I’m in love with Marinette.” What made it worse was Aurore's knowing smirk.
“About time you figured that out.” She paused. "Don’t be so embarrassed Fefe.”
“Shut up!” He hissed as the goddess left his home, just off the main building. Felix fanned his cheeks with his hand. How would he confess to Marinette. Tomorrow as the day Rose, goddess of love, was honoured so perhaps he could take her to a celebrating down and confess there?
It seemed that the Fates were on his side as Marinette was all up for celebrating with the mortals. They’re more loyal than some people. She had told him during one of their earlier trips. She also informed him that Rose did still consider Marinette a friend, but they didn’t hang out very often. As the gently hit the ground, courtesy of Felix, Marinette threaded their hands together. Normally Felix didn’t think much of it, but now? He looked away to hide the blush. “So Felix?” He hummed. “Any particular reason you chose to hang out today?”
“Don’t we always hang out?”
“Well yeah, but I didn’t think you’d want to come down here today. I assumed you’d be spending it with someone you love.” Felix’s mouth moved before his brain could stop it.
“I am.” He heard Marinette sucked in a breath. “And there’s no where I’d rather be.”
“Hey Felix?” He looked down, only to feel Marinette’s lips brush is own. “There’s no where I would rather be either.” He smiled fondly, blush and all as the two walked the streets of the town, never leaving the other’s side.

Chapter 3: Children of Duusu
Summary:
Contrary to what many believe, Felix was never Adrien's brother.
Chapter Text
Plagg sighed irritably as he made his way to the underworld. At this moment no one ran it meaning that the Titans would often have to check on the area. Behind him was Duusu, the peacock feathers decorating the back of her chiton swishing against the floor. She was dabbing her eyes softly, the crystal-like blue tears hardening against the cloth before falling off. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until the duo came across a large crystal structure imbued into rocks. It was a dark green and almost completely opaque. But something was in there. A silhouette of something.
“Is it inside the structure? Or behind it?” Duusu inquired softly. Plagg placed his hand against the crystal. It thrummed with power. A god maybe? The signature of Duusu’s power also lingered.
“Let’s find out.” Power swirled around his hand, the shadowy magic moving closer to the crystal.
“What if you kill whatever is there?” Duusu hissed, grabbing his arm.
“Then he won’t need money for the boat.” He said drily, pulling his arm from her grasp and touching the crystal. It shattered but the silhouette seemed fine. It was a child, no older than five. He blinked sleepily and looked at the two. Within seconds Duusu was dressing the boy and whisking him to the Capitol, Plagg reluctantly following.
“Do you know who you are?” She asked softly. The boy looked around Duusu’s room, admiring the blue and teal hues that filled the space.
“…no…” Plagg tried not to roll his eyes.
“The crystal had your magic lingering around it. Another crying session gone wrong?” Duusu looked over.
“And you smashing the thing to bits gave him some of your destruction abilities. He is as much your responsibility as mine.” Duusu sighed and pushed the boy’s silver blonde locks from his face. “How about Felix? Do you like that name?” The boy blinked and nodded.
“…Felix…” he said softly before a grumbling noise filled the room. Duusu looked over.
“I’ll take over raising the boy if you can get him something to eat.” Plagg muttered something under his breath but left, returning a few minutes later with some ambrosia. Duusu thanked him as he left before returning to look at the boy. This would be the closest she got to a son. She wouldn’t mess things up.
—————
Duusu awoke to hear soft sniffles and a small hand against her upper arm. Usually she would be mad at someone interrupting her beauty sleep, but after adopting the boy from the crystal she had gotten used to him waking up. She sat up and looked at the crying boy, his tears illuminated by the full moon shining through gauzy teal curtains. They moved in the gentle night wind. “Did you have another bad dream Felix?” He nodded. “You poor thing.” She move the other half of her blanket and patted the sheets. “Come here. I’ll protect you from any nightmares.” The boy gave the ghost of a smile before climbing over her, snuggling into the blanket as Duusu tucked him in. She kissed his forehead and let herself drift into unconsciousness.
—————
Duusu entered her chambers and drew back the dark blue curtains, looking at the child behind them. She let out a sigh of relief that she found him. He had fallen asleep reading, the book against his lap and his head was down. She chuckled softly before moving the book, as well as marking the page, adjusting his position and laying a blanket over the young god. He was a surprisingly heavy sleeper once the nightmares went away. She pouted. He was already eight now. She didn’t want him to grow up anymore. She loved being his mother. She kissed his forehead before closing the curtains and leaving her chambers. She was almost late for today’s meeting. What she hadn’t noticed was the small smile that graced the sleeping boy’s lips.
———————
Duusu had noticed Felix wasn’t a social person, but as she held the hand of the young goddess, he would have to adapt. She was only three months younger than him, born of sea foam and the crystallized tears she was known for. Felix looked up as she returned only to tilt his head at the newcomer. “Hello Felix. This is Ondine. She’ll be staying with us for awhile.”
Despite his initial dislike, Felix warmed up to the bubbly goddess, listening politely as she rambled. “Felix what are you doing in the corner?” Ondine inquired. “They’re starting soon.”
“I think I may just head back to my room.” He muttered.
“No Way! We’re supposed to get our domains today!” She replied, grabbing his arm. “Now come on!” Felix sputtered out some kind of response.
Duusu held the necklace of light in her hands. It was odd for her to be delivering a domain of this caliber but it’s what Tikki asked her to do. “Adrien, god of the sun.” She said sweetly, placing the necklace around his head before stepping back. A feeling of motherly pride filled her chest as Ondine and Felix got their domains. It turned to dread when she learned both of them were being sent away. Ondine to the ocean and Felix to the underworld. It made sense for Ondine, she seemed to prefer the beaches on the mortal lands to the cool marble of her chamber. But sending Felix, her Felix, to the underworld?! She swallowed the ball of rage. She couldn’t ruin the ceremony. No matter how much she wished she could.
And as Felix was escorted to the underworld, Duusu returned to her room. She pushed the dark blue curtains away, looking at the small nook by the window and as she sat down, the titan began to weep.

Chapter 4: Mortality and the Sun
Summary:
A brief look at Adrien's time on earth.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
It was cooler than expected. Sure he knew that Marinette was upset, but he didn’t expect the temperature to drop so quickly so soon. He looked over at the sheep in front of him and thanked Tikki that the titans gave him some supplies and a job. To watch over Nooroo’s sheep. He shivered as cold wind struck him. “You’re rather unprepared.” A voice mused. Adrien tensed before looking over. It was a petite lady with grey hair. Despite the colour, she was youthful.
“Y-Yeah. I mean isn’t every one? This is the first time something like this has happened right?”
“I suppose that’s correct. But I’ve known for some time.” The lady pulled off a shawl from herself and handed it to him.
“I couldn’t-”
“I have more. Take it.” Adrien reached out and wrapped it around himself. It was warm.
“Thank you...”
“Mullo. But some call me Delphi.” Adrien bit back a gasp. Mullo was the fallen titans of memory and prophecy. Despite being under the same oath to remain neutral that the fates were under during deity disputes, Titans and gods, including his father, blamed her for not informing them of future events and was cast to the mortal lands.
“Icarus. I go by Icarus.” There was a chance she could turn on him if he said his real name.
“It’s nice to meet you Icarus. Do stay safe during these colder times. And feel free to stop by my home. I’m happy to share my food and shelter.”
“I- Thank you.” Mullo left and Adrien turned to the sheep. “Watching sheep. That can’t be too hard.”
________________________________________________
It turns out that being a Shepard is hard. The weather certainly didn’t help either, the days only became colder as time went on. A week ago he saw the unmistakable form of Alya, goddess of justice, walking down the frozen streets, but decided to avoid her for the time being. Mullo was nice though. Never questioned where he came from or how he ended up being a Shepard, two things that would require explaining his god hood, and showed him how to take care of himself, something he enjoyed learning. Despite the blistering cold, he liked the earth.
Alas, all things come to an end and just under six months later he was summoned back home. Coincidentally the earth began healing from its cold snap . “Hey Mullo.”
“Yes Icarus?”
“Thank you for housing me these past six months.”
“It was no issue.” She paused. “It sounds like your saying goodbye.”
“I need to go home now. I just didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.” Mullo smiled softly before pulling the former god into a hug, filled with the warmth he craved since his mother’s coma. Tears brimmed in his eyes. How long had it been since he had been hugged? They stayed like this for some time.
“Mullo...”
“Hm?”
“If you could return to home, would you?”
“I used to. I was unfairly punished for upholding my vow, but now I don’t. I’ve spent so much time on earth, it’s my home now.” They broke from the hug. “Don’t be a stranger Icarus.”
“I won’t.” Adrien packed up his things, leaving the shawl, and left the small home, silently entering one of his temples. The feeling of being whisked away as a mortal was odd, and even when he got his immortality back for learning his lesson, the palace never felt the same after that.
Down on earth, Mullo laid a decorative shawl at the foot of the marble statue of the sun god, before walking home, welcoming the spring.
