Chapter 1: Christmas Day

Chapter Text

The smell of coffee awoke Dabi, as it had for the past months. The sound of someone roaming in the kitchen as well as the sun shining through the huge windows makes it all too clear that it was morning and he had to get up eventually. The faint humming coming from the kitchen got louder, his lips quirked up a bit and with a groan he shoves his feet out of the bed.

When he enters the kitchen his smile grows as his boyfriend is currently making breakfast and it smells amazing. The fact that Keigo is not wearing a shirt also may have had a part in it. Two steps and he slips his arms around the shorter man's waist, leaning down to rest his forehead on Keigos shoulder, avoiding the wings.

“Good morning.” It was always a mystery to Dabi how people can be so energetic so early in the morning and Keigo is no different. Right on cue he takes the pan of the stove, turning around in Dabi’s arms, wings almost hitting him in the face. “You seem well rested.” It was a joke and they are both aware of the glaring eye bags under both of their eyes, not that they would be very visible on Dabi. He make a noncommittal hum and leans down for a kiss.

“Merry Christmas, pretty bird.”

“Merry Christmas to you too, are you ready for today?” Keigo nudges him playfully and wiggles out of his arms to get back to breakfast, turning his back to him again. This time his wings hit Dabi square in the face, but Keigo doesn’t seem to mind. Dabi does. He spits out feathers and curses under his breath while wiping his mouth.

It’s not very visible but he knows that Keigo is grinning and a half angry half playful growl escapes him. “You’ll pay for th-,” he spits out another feather, “you’ll pay for this.”

Keigo just glances over his shoulder. “Whatever do you mean, love?” Now his shit eating grin is visible to dabi and he feels another smile tug at the corners of his lips, but fights it down the best he can. He contemplates staying bend over next to the kitchen counter and attack when Keigo doesn't look, but he knows that he would see it coming (honestly he would see any other attack coming too, being the number one hero and so on, but whatever) and reminds himself of the breakfast his boyfriend is making. With a groan he gets up and starts making coffee while Keigo starts to hum this obnoxious Christmas carol again.

Breakfast is a comfortable affair. They mostly sit in silence which Dabi learned to enjoy after his first few meetups with the pro hero. They only exchange a few words and short kisses in between between bites. Keigo picks a few feathers out of the Dabi’s hair too. Once everything is cleaned up again Dabi can’t help but realise:

“One could think we are actual functioning adults the way this day started off.”

Keigo snorts. “Yeah no, it’s just your moms influence rubbing off on the both of us.” He grins, casting a glance over the kitchen. “Though this kitchen hasn’t been this clean since…” he scrunches up his nose in thought, “probably since I bought it.”

“With you never cleaning up I can imagine that.” Dabi takes a few steps to his boyfriend again and just like this morning he hugs the others hips and lowers his head, this time he rests it on Keigos forehead. He is unusually clingy today and Keigo seems to either not realise it or not minding it because his arms come to rest on the back of his neck.

“Hey now,” he whispers, “it wasn’t that bad. I cleaned up sometimes.”

So he did realise but just didn’t mind. It’s odd, very time Dani gets anxious or his emotion become too much for him to bear it seems that a simple hug or kiss from his boyfriend calms him down, the sorrows never vanish but for some reason Keigo always seems to know who or what bothers him and how to fight it.
“So you’re not ready for today.”

“...No”

“I am one hundred percent sure that this will go smoothly and even if not, I will be right by your side. You can always count on me, love.”

Dabi just leans in for a short kiss.

“Thank you, for all of this.”

“No need to thank me. I love you and I will stick to you. You’re not getting rid of me.” The grin is back and Dabi cant help to smile too. “Let’s get dressed properly alright? We can take an Uber to your family’s house, or we could walk.”

Reluctantly he lets Keigo move over in the direction of their shared bedroom and follows him slowly.

“I would prefer the Uber honestly. I know you love your fans but we really can't be late, again.” The teasing in his voice is evident and he remembers fondly how late they were for the last time they met up with his family and the time before that and the time before that… Keigo’s voice drags him back into reality:

“Uber it is then.” He turns his back to Dabi and rummages through the closet to find some more presentable, but for the weather appropriate clothing that are not his hero costume. He feels Dabi come closer through his feathers, but is not prepared for his boyfriend to scoop him up and practically throw him on the bed. Trying to hold back the squaw that escapes his lips is almost impossible and he only realises what happens when he lies face first in the pillows and hears his boyfriend’s deep laughter.

“That is payback for this morning, though I loved the little squawk there, pretty bird.”

Scandalized he stares at Dabi. “I did not squawk!”

“Yes you did and you can deny it all you want, but I know what I heard.”

Keigo is now actively trying to suppress his smile as he sees the mischief and happiness in Dabi’s eyes. Instead he throws a pillow at him. It hits Dabi square in the face and falls comically to the ground to reveal a scandalized looking Dabi.

“Oh now you’re in for it!”

If they had neighbors they would be wondering why the two grown guys living next to them were screaming and laughing with things like. “HA! HEADSHOT!”, “NOOO NOT MY HAIR” and “DON’T YOU DARE THROW THAT” followed by something shattering and even more laughter.

Sure to say they were late, again.

Two hours later their Uber had dropped them off two streets away from the Todoroki household. Why two streets away? Keigo had decided that walking the rest would help Dabi calm down and clear his head of any anxiety and so they were walking down the sidewalk hand in hand. While Keigo has his jacket zipped up and is wearing actual winter clothing to ward against the cold and snow seeping through his clothing Dabi is dressed like one would be on a mild fall day and doesn’t look cold at all. Keigo's appreciation for his boyfriends fire quirk has only risen since he discovered that Dabi was practically a small space heater and now enjoys the warm hand in his while his other Hand is stuffed into his pocket.

Next to him Dabi is fidgeting with his other hand and wiping it his trousers every now and then.

“I don't know why I’m so anxious about this.” There is what Keigo has been waiting for.

“Maybe it’s because Shouto’s boyfriend is going to be there as well as the kid’s Mother? You did kidnap the one of their best friend and if his mom is like yours in any way she can be scary.” Keigo throws a look sideways to reads Dabis expression “but I guess it’s normal to be anxious about this. First Christmas in family again.”

Dabi stops walking.

“What if they realize I’m not worth their time anymore?” His whispers are so quiet every normal person without enhanced hearing would have missed it.

“They won’t.” Keigo stares at Dabi so sure of that statement that he almost believes it. Carefully Keigo brings Dabis hands into his, squeezing gently. The way he looks at Dabi almost hurts, so much love is in his eyes. “Your mom loves you, she would never turn you away and she has told you that so many times and I will keep reminding you of it. Fuyumi is glad to have her family back again, to have her twin back again. To her you are the one she can geek about old books and her children’s art, or rant about the other teachers incompetence. Natsuo finally has someone he can cook with and sometimes play handball-”

“It’s basketball.” He absentmindedly reminds Keigo who’s thumbs have started circling around the back of his hands.

“Basketball then, what I mean is, he finally has his older brother back he used to play with all the time. And Shouto, we both know that Shouto needed some time, but look at the it now. He doesn't ask Fuyumi or Nastuo or your mom for advice, no, he calls you and asks about love and your quirk and he is seriously invested in why you made the choices that brought you here. They all understand and they all love you. As do I.”

Dabi takes in a deep breath, tilting his head upwards looking at the sky. He is nervous, he knows all of this but yet he can’t help but wonder- Keigo squeezes his hands again. It grounds him. When his gaze falls back to Keigo he is met with the same loving gaze from before, but now it doesn't hurt anymore.

“You’re right,” he squeezes the hands holding his, “lets go.”

As walk down the street and turn a corner he leans close to Keigo's ear and whispers a small: “I love you too” which earns him a smile as bright as the sun and a quick kiss.

The Midoriyas are already there when they arrive which is evident by the car parking before the house. Fuyumi opens the door, smiling brightly at them and hugs both with a “Merry Christmas” they leave their shoes at the door and Fuyumi walks them towards the living room.

“I know you’re probably not used to the western traditions of Christmas, Hawks, but it was Natsuo’s idea and it gives us some space from the traditions we used to affiliate with uncomfortable dinners and-“ She cuts herself of when Keigo reassuringly holds up a hand.

“I know, I know, and honestly I’m delighted and honored that I am invited. I never celebrated Christmas.” He stumbles over his own word choice and quickly adds “like that.” To it. Dabi shoots him a look and squeezes his hand. “And honestly like I said before, you can call me Keigo.”

“Sorry that we are late by the way,” he apologizes to his sister and makes a face “someone didn't feel like getting done with his hair.” He eyes Keigo who gasps disapprovingly.

“It was you faul that it looked like a birds nest, mister!”

“Ew I did not want to know that!” Nastuo appears in the doorway.

“Take your head out of the gutter little brother, I shoved a pillow in his face, though he started it.”

“I did not.”

“Yes you did.”

“I did-“

“Hello Keigo it’s nice to see you.” Natsuo holds his hand out and Keigo takes it just to pull him into a hug. He mouths “Did not.” Over natsuos shoulder and Dabi mouths “Did too” back.

Fuyumi just chuckles and vanishes into the kitchen while Natsuo proceeds to hug Dabi.

“Come on guys, mom is waiting for you.”

On one hand Rei Todoroki is a very soft and amazing woman, she is loving and beautiful and Keigo feels right at home when he sees her smile at them when they step in the living room.

On the other hand he has seen how scary and powerful that woman can be so he bows respectfully before getting, once again, pulled into a hug. Only then he sees the other woman present, sitting at the table. Rei pulls back and motions to the now standing woman.

She is small, green hair, and a shine in her eyes that felt all too familiar to him. Just like with Rei, he bows and introduces himself:

“Hello, I am Hawks.” In his mind he chastises himself for using his hero name, they are in a personal environment but old habits die hard. He covers it with a smile. “Or that is what most people know me as” he laughs a bit. “In personal I’m just Takami Keigo, nice to meet you.”

She smiles the same smile that Rei had a few moments ago, the one that makes a person feel welcome and right at home. It seems to be some kind of motherly smile that every wonderful and kind hearted person can achieve.

“I am Inko Midoriya and its nice to meet you too. Please just call me Inko we are celebrating Christmas together after all and Rei said you practically belong to the family.”

Can’t compute… smile… to bright! Keigo, stunned and trying to catch himself, is reminded of Dabi saying his smile were so bright it rivals the sun and he has to ask himself if this is how he feels.

“Oh, yeah, call me Keigo then.” He looks at Rei, still stunned by the new revelation of family. A word he was not able to associate anything with in many years. But when he thinks about it more he realises that he had been thinking of Dabi as his family for a long time now, almost more than half of the three years they had known each other. This was only natural progress. He doesn’t even process it when Dabi greets Inko, already familiar with her and is only awoken from his thoughts by a hand on his elbow, carefully guiding him to sit on the table. Looking up he sees his boyfriend smiling softly at him, almost unnoticeable.

“I believe you and my son know each other, he was so fascinated by the things he learned from you through the team up missions. I have to thank you for teaching him.” Inko addresses him again.

“Oh please, that was my duty as Pro Hero and as a kind of mentor. Your son is very observant and a fast learner, he has the potential to become a great hero. The pros he has been surrounded with, especially Eraser and All Might, taught him well, though I can see where the kid got his kind heart from.”

Inko tries to hide her blush behind her cup of tea and the proud smile is clear on her face. Rei laughs playfully and turns to look at her son who just sat down next to Keigo, another teacup in hand. Before anyone can get another word out there are footsteps in the corridor and Shouto is standing in the doorway, he looks like he was sliding down the hall and right next to him appears another boy. Midoriya Izuku, Shoutos boyfriend.

“Hello Hawks, Hi Dabi.” He waves at them while Shouto takes a hold of the doorframe to stop himself from falling because of the impact that Izuku had, sliding up right next to him.

“Hi Kid, you know, in private you can call me Keigo.”

“Oh right.” Izuku rubs the back of his head nervously and glances to Shouto who just nods to Keigo and send a small smile in their general direction before addressing Rei:

“Mom, Izu and I wanted to go outside in the garden, enjoy the snow and so on, just to let you know.”

“Ohhhh a snowball fight! I’m gonna join too!” Natsuo suddenly appears in the Hallway though Keigo can not see him he can hear him. Shouto turns in the direction Natsuo’s voice came from.

“I never said anything about a snowball fight.”

“Oh come on, snowball fights are fun! Even Fuyumi will join,” his voice gets louder, calling for his sister in the kitchen, “right Yumi?”

“What?”

“Are you gonna join us in a snowball fight outside? Pleeeease?”

There’s a silence where Keigo guesses Fuyumi poked her head out of the kitchen to disapprovingly look at her brother before relenting.

“Fine. But only if Dabi and Hawks- I mean Keigo join too.”

Natsuo pokes his head around the corner to look into the living room and stare at them with puppy eyes. Keigo glances at his boyfriend and almost snorts out his tea as he sees the resigned and just done look on his face.

“Sure” he wheezes out while Dabi turns to glare at him, “but no quirks.”

“Aw man that's no fun, but hey at least something.” Natsuo vanishes again and a second later they can hear him yelling “They’re in!”

Shuffling can be heard down the hallway and Shouto sighs.

“Alright a snowball fight it is then I guess…”

Midoriya grins “Come on lets get dressed, this is gonna be fun.”

Hawks stands, trying to drag Dabi with him who resolutely stays on the ground. He gives out a whine and receives a glare.

“I never agreed to this.”

“Awwww come on babe, like the kid said, this is gonna be fun! Please!” He tries his best to pull Dabi up again and succeeds only because he doesnt weight very much but flops down again immediately. Keigo pouts.

“...”
“Please?”

He receives a sigh.

“Fine, just, don't whine at me when you get cold.”
“Yessssssss”

This time Dabi lets himself be pulled to his feet and trots after Keigo to the front door where they left their shoes.

“We’re going to make some hot chocolate and put some towels in next to the door so that you can dry yourselves up alright?” Rei calls after them.

“Thanks mom.”

————————

Once outside they almost get ambushed by the others and a snowball narrowly misses Dabis head. He can hear Fuyumi giggling behind a bush and turns to look at Keigo who shrugs.

“Everyone on their own?”

“Hmmm, give me some time to get away before you unleash your full power o great Pro Hero.”

“Pfft yeah right.”

“WITH OR WITHOUT QUIRKS?” He shouts over the garden and receives a

“WITH” from one of the bushes. Dabi sighs and starts backing away from Keigo.

“It’s not like that gives you unfair advantages”

“As if I can hide with my wings in the snow, at least you got the element of surprise.”

Keigo crouches down to scoop up some snow and Dabi decides it's time to get out of here. He turns around and runs.
Hiding behind a well when a snowball barely misses his head again, the next hits him on the foot that’s sticking out of his hiding place, getting snow everywhere under his trousers and in his shoes. He hears Natsuo giving a triumphant shout and scoops up some snow himself. Normally it would melt instantly, which is why he brought gloves outside that belong to his mom, they’re specially designed for stuff like this and with them he is able to form a decent snowball. Poking his head out he sees Shouto crouching behind a bush with his back turned to him.

“Oh you’re on.” He grins and gets ready to shoot. Shouto turns in the last second but cannot avoid the snowball hitting him in the face and Dabi one again decides it it time to run.

The next hour or so is spend with everyone getting snow everywhere, shouts, ambushes and it escalates to a full on war when Izuku, being in a tight spot between Shouto and Keigo begs for shouto to have mercy and Shouto instead shoots Keigo who in return flees to Dabi only to be rejected with a snowball to his face, he eventually gets rescued by Fuyumi and after everyone exhausted themselves they are sitting on the stairs of the backyard.

“Oof this was exhausting.” Natsuo is bend over trying to work up the power to breathe again after running from Shouto and Izuku.

Fuyumi is less out of breath but still seems a bit flustered and red in the face: “I think it was good that we got some exercise!”

Keigo chuckles and leans back. Only to get side eyed by Natsuo.

“Of course you aren’t out of breath.” He says throwing up his arms.

Keigo just grins at him, “Well, there are some pros to being a Pro Hero.”

Dabi just groans at the awful joke.

They sit in silence, oblivious to the feathers full of snow creeping up behind them, all while Keigo leans back with a satisfied smirk on his lips.

A few seconds later everyone suddenly feels cold, wet snow running down their backs and mortified screaming erupts from the backyard of the house. Inside Rei and Inko are standing at the window to see their kids chasing a laughing Keigo through the Garden.

“They seem to at least all get along.”

Rei just hums in reply.

“How about some more hot coca, Inko? When they come in they will take it all for themselves.”

“Oh yes please dear, I just want to ask you something first…”

“Yes?” Rei turns to Inko to see her looking at the kitchen counter.

“Why is the a glass of milk with ice in it standing on the counter?”

“Oh, that is probably Natsuo’s, he likes his milk cold.”

“Oh.”

“Just don’t question it.” Rei walks past her with a pat on the back.

“I guess that would be the best idea. Do you have any card or board games here to pass the time?”

“Oh yes follow me.”

———————————-

Once the “kids” come back inside everyone takes some time to dry of and then they all agree to meet in the living room for board games and hot chocolate. Giving presents is scheduled for later in the evening and when Dabi walks past the living room with the wet towels only to see his boyfriend and family laugh and joke together he can’t help but smile. Yeah, it is like Keigo said, they are going to stick together and no one can change that.

When entering the living room a few minutes later he is stopped by Nastuos shout, right in the doorway he stands and turns to his brother who has a shiteating grin on his face.

“What is it.” He narrows his eyes in distrust. Natsuo’s grin gets even bigger and he can hear Izuku snicker as well as Shouto slurping his coca.

“Look up.”

When he does as told he sees a twig hanging above him, pinned their with a red ribbon.

“What is this?”

“It’s a mistletoe! Whoever walks under it is trapped there until released by a kiss.”

He crosses his arms over his chest and wills himself not to take a step forward to not upset his brother, he is not really annoyed he just likes drama, and raises one of his eyebrows.

“You want me to stand here until someone kisses me?”

“That’s the point of it!”

“Ugh”

His reaction causes a lot of laughter and he looks at his boyfriend, who eventually, rises from his seat and comes to stand in front of him.

“I suppose I will rescue you from you dilemma.” The grin on Keigo's face is clear and Dabi rolls his eyes in played annoyance.

“Just get it over with.”

“Hmm”

Keigo leans forward and pulls him down to press a gentle kiss on his lips. When he retreats there’s a soft smile on his lips. “I love you.”

Dabi swallows the lump in his throat.

“I love you too”

Chapter 2: Another gift

Notes:

This is a little extra I want to add as well as the following chapter, they are short, but inspiration struck me and I really wanted to write it even though it’s not in your prompt twac. I hope you enjoy nonetheless.

Chapter Text

When the evening comes to a close Dabi can't help but feel anxious again. He wipes his hands on his trousers and glances at Keigo, who is conversing with the others.
All gifts have been given and so many wishes have been passed around. Rei got the whole Family a Nintendo Switch with fitting games and extra controllers for more players and the excitement on Natsuo’s face reminds Dabi of Tomura every time he got a new game or beat an old one. He got a few books from Natsuo and Fuyumi, Shouto gifted him with a diary, something they had talked about before and his mom gave him similar gloves and boots as the ones he had been using in the snowball fight earlier. Keigo had given him an earring with one of his feathers on it.

“So that I’m always with you, like I promised.” He had said. In return he had gotten a custom made necklace from Dabi and Rumi together, it had small gems on it, one in azure blue and one in white and a red one in the middle.

The rest of the evening, before that, had been spend with board and card games and recalling, sometimes embarrassing, stories.

Now Natsuo, Fuyumi, Izuku and Shouto where trying out the new Switch and Rei and Inko where trying out the new rice cooker Fuyumi hat gifted Rei. Keigo and Dabi had agreed to clean the living room and were currently stuffing the old wrapping paper in bags. The silence was comfortable, but Dabi still couldn’t rest. He was nervously glancing around and sighing to himself. Of course Keigo noticed.

“You know that just keeping it all riled up within you is not going to help right?”

Dabis head snapped around to look at Keigo who was now standing right in front of him. The bags were neatly put away in a corner of the room. He sighs.

“It’s nothing, I was just overthinking stuff again.”

Keigo takes another step forward, taking Dabis hands in his, sometimes he wishes to see into the others head just to know what the best thing to say is. Dabi’s chest tightens when he sees the loving look on his boyfriends face again. Why is it always hard to breathe when he looks at him that way. Maybe it is because he then only needs Keigo for living and not air-

“I don't know what you are thinking about or what you are overthinking but when it bothers you it is not “nothing”. You can always talk to me, I will say it over and over again until you get it in your head, I will stick with you. Nothing is going to change that, no crime, no bad thought, no idiotic assholes who thinks they can dedicate our lives. Nothing. Okay?”

His hands have reached up to cradle Dabis face and he leans into the touch closing his eyes for a moment and humming in content.

“I love you Keigo.” When he opens his eyes again he looks at the smiling face of his boyfriend and makes a decision, he is going to go through with it, no matter the consequences.

“I have one last present for you.”

Keigo's eyebrow rises at that. “You do? You are just showering me in gifts today, I could get used to it.” He leans down to peck him on the lips.

“Close your eyes, I'm gonna go and get it. No peeking!”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“No, promise, no peeking!” Surprised Keigo opens his eyes to look at Dabi and is met with a surprisingly serious face. “It’s supposed to be a surprise, Keigo.”

“Okay, okay, no peeking, I promise.”

Dabi seems to relent and exits the room. For a short minute Keigo can not hear a thing until he hears footsteps approaching again. There is nothing accompanying them, nothing is being dragged and there is no clattering of any kind, not that he had expected much of it. Dabi was obviously being stealthy.

He hears him enter the room again and senses him getting closer and closer though he cannot estimate the exact distance. There is some shuffling and then Dabi breathes out a almost silent “Okay” he sounds breathless and overwhelmed, a hand slides into his and Keigo decides to slowly open his eyes. At first he can’t see his boyfriend anywhere, that is until he looks down.

Dabi is kneeling in front of him with a small black box in hand. That is all Keigo is able to process before his brain does a backflip and screeches to a halt, but before he can do anything Dabi begins to speak.

“As you know I am not the best at stuff like this and honestly I would have never thought I would be in this situation but you managed to turn everything I thought around. You did so many amazing things for me, you stuck with me in situations that seemed inescapable. It did not matter if the enemy was a crazy scientist, my best friends shitty father figure or my own shitty dad, with you, everything seems possible. You showed me possibilities and choices I never thought I would have again, you showed me how to love, how to care and how to live again. Like the current number one Hero said, we have a bright and wonderful future ahead of us and I for one would love to experience that future with you as my husband.”

Keigo gasped softly, bringing his free hand up to his mouth and blinked against the tears in his eyes.

“So, Keigo Takami, will you do me the honor and marry me?”

He opens the box with one hand and reveals a beautiful gold ring. At first glance it does not seem very special, no stones or intricate design, just a white gold band. However he sees a small engraving on the inside, a feather? Keigo can only gasp for words. He kneels down to Dabi, looking away from the ring and instead into his questioning eyes. There is a little bit of fear in them and when Dabi opens his mouth to say something, maybe to give Keigo some space or to reassure him that he doesn't have to say yes he moves towards him and kisses him. One hand is still holding onto Dabi, the other slides around his shoulder and pulls him close while both melt into the kiss.

They part, both breathless, Keigo still searching for words and his eyes drift back to the ring for a second then he looks up, determined, but when he speaks it is so much softer, voice full of love, just like his eyes.

“Yes. Yes, of course I will!”

Dabi lets out a breathless laugh and leans in to touch their foreheads together.

“You had me panicking there for a second pretty bird.”

A snort escapes him and he leans in for another kiss.

“As if I would ever have said anything else but yes.”

Dabi hums and gently grasps his left hand.
“May I?”

Nodding, his eyes fall back to the ring again and now that Dabi took it out of its box he can see the engravement on the inside, a feather and a flame dancing together so that it almost looks like its moving.

“It’s beautiful”
“I’m glad you like it.”

Dabi slides the ring on his finger and he sees the light reflect of it, he can feel the engravement in it.

“I love you.”
“And I love you.”

They don't know how long they sit there together, embracing each other, just being in their own world. It seems like hours, or seconds, none of them can tell.

As long as they’re together it doesn’t matter anyways.

Chapter 3: Revelation

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Neither Keigo nor Dabi even realise when Inko suddenly appears in the doorway. She stands there, stunned at the picture she sees there. Silently she moves back to the kitchen.

“Rei, come with me, I have to show you something. I think something has happened with your sons.”

Rei looks up alarmed. “What? Are they okay?”

Inko just holds a finger to her lips and smiles. “Yes, I think they are alright, there have just been developments, at least that is what it looks like.”

Rei follows her to the living room and upon seeing the two embracing each other without any care she cannot help but feel a huge smile spread across her lips. “So he said yes.” She whispers, taking out her phone and taking a picture.

“You knew?”

“Yes, Dabi came to me a while ago asking for advice, though I did not know he was planning on doing it today. The ring gave it away, look.”

The ring on Keigo's finger shines in the light even visible trough the cocoon his wings build around them. Just like Rei, Inko can't help but smile at the sight. “Let’s give them some space then.”

Rei takes a few more pictures, before she is dragged away by her new friend, to the other kids. They look up when the two women enter but do not let themselves get distracted. After Natsuo dies in the game he looks at them.

“Where are Dabi and Keigo, cleaning up won't take this long right?”
“If you can do it better go do it and help them,” fuyumi stares at the screen with an intensity that makes Inko raise an eyebrow. She is clearly frustrated by the game while Shouto and Izuku seem to enjoy themselves but both are too focused on the game to even participate in the conversation.

“Yes, Nastuo, Fuyumi is right, you can always go help.” Reis voice is sweet and Natsuo quickly picks the controller back up.

“Sorry mom, i can't.”
“Hmmm thought so.”

The next minutes are spend with Rei and Inko talking about a magazine they both enjoy in the corner while the others concentrate on the game. There are occasional curses and arguments between them which are always broken by a “language!” Or “please children, behave” by one of the moms and a stern look.

Almost an half an hour passes before Keigo and Dabi emerge hand in hand, both smiling like idiots and this time Fuyumi pauses the game to eye her twin suspiciously.

“Where were you guys?”

“Cleaning up the mess you all made.” Dabi retorts before slumping down in one of the armchairs and Keigo decides to sit on the ground between his legs, wings spreading over the floor. He ignores the look his mom shoots him and rests one of his hands over Keigos shoulder who takes the hand and starts to rub circles on it absentmindedly.

“What are you guys playing?”

“It’s the new game we got together with the Switch. It’s- Ohhhhhh MY GOD.” Natsuo almost falls off the couch as he stares at his brother and Keigo. No one notices the knowing smiles passing the faces of Inko and Rei while Shouto, Izuku and Fuyumi stare in bewilderment at Natsuo.

“What? What happened?” Shouto’s eyes jump between Natsuo and the two he is staring at, trying to figure out what is going on, but it is Izuku who realizes next.

“Oh.” He now too stares at the two people who, and his brain not so helpfully tells him this, are the current number one hero and an ex villain sittin there. “Oh.”

Natsuo splutters something unintelligible and motions to them again while Keigo continues calmly rubbing his thumb over Dabis hand. Fuyumi is still confused but holds onto Natsuos leg anyways, to keep him from falling off the couch. She stares intensely, just like at the screen before, until her eyes just light up with realisation and she gets up, almost shoving Natsuo down, to kneel in front of Keigo. The squeals coming off of her sound almost inhuman.

“God did you really ask? Oh my god guys I’m so happy for you this is amazing, wow. Congratulations. I’m so glad it worked!” She proceeds to hug both of them all while Shouto turns to Izuku with a raised eyebrow. Izuku points to their joined hands.

“Look, the ring on his finger, I guess your brother must have proposed.”

Shouto squints at them and a small “oh.” Escapes him. Izuku makes a mental note to ask about the squinting later, a image of Shouto with glasses flashes through his head and he blushes instantly.

Now all the siblings are hugging, Keigo squashed in between, only Izuku, his mom and Rei left as onlookers. Natsuo has found his voice and together with Fuyumi he is asking all kinds of questions, ranging from “who knew?” To “How did you propose?” and “can I see the ring?”

Keigo shows them with pleasure and Dabi explains that he told Fuyumi and Rumi about it as well as Rei. Natsuo is scandalized but eventually deflates when everyone agrees he would not have been able to keep the secret. Rei hugs first Dabi and then Keigo. Then she steps back and tells them both how proud she is of her sons.

“And yes, that includes you too Keigo.”

He blushes and hugs her again. Fuyumi jokingly throws in the fact that she is miffed about having another brother but hugs him too. The rest of the evening is spent chatting and playing Switch, to no one's surprise Keigo and Dabi are inseparable and when the time comes to say goodbye and go back home there are more even more hugs.

“I will see you two soon, alright?”
“Yes mom.”
“Take care of each other?”
“Yes mom.”
“Do you have enough food at home?”
“Yes mom.”
“And don't go into dark alleyways on your ways back home it's dangerous.”
“He is literally the number one hero mom.”

Rei just laughs and hugs them both again before waving them goodbye.

Walking through the night hand in hand Keigo looks up to the sky. People say love binds them, ties them up and won't let them go ever again. However he feel like he has never been more free. Nothing he can remember has felt better than walking with his fiancé hand in hand. He will never let this waver and treasure this feeling forever.

He gently squeezes Dabi’s hand and smiles when Dabi squeezes back.
