Zuko of the Pokemon - Characters and Pokemon Teams

Summary:

The reference list for all of the Character's Pokemon Teams in Zuko of the Pokemon.
This Idea and not yet posted main-story is Paused, while I try and figure out if i want to add Gen 8 Pokemon. And which Pokemon suit which characters best. And I double check my planned plot. And maybe get distracted writing other things. Point is, it maybe be on-pause for a while but suggestions on people's pokemon partners are always welcome.

Chapter 3: Setting Rules

Chapter Text

The Pokémon World exists in Parallel to the Spirit World and the Material World.

Pokémon can come into the Material World and the Spirit World around the Spring and the Autumn Equinoxes but they will be trapped until the next Equinox if they stay too long.

Pokémon can form a Bond, known as a ‘Chi-Bond’ with a human or a Spirit, by both parties intermingling and binding together a small portion of their Chi.

Humans with compatible Chi attract Pokemon to them that gain strength from their Chi. Pokemon with a Chi-bond gain the the ability to retreat back to the Pokemon World and be called into the Material World by their trainer’s will.

People attract the sort of Pokemon they can Bond with and the nature of both your Chi and your Pokémon’s Chi heavily effects your chances of Bonding. Personality-Type Pokémon have Chi that interacts neutrally with everyone’s Chi. All other Pokémon-Types interact positively with 1 Element Alignment and negatively with the other 4 Element Alignments.

The Element Alignments to Pokémon Types are:

Firebenders with Fire and Electric Types

Airbenders with Flying and Ghost Types

Waterbenders with Water and Ice Types

Earthbenders with Ground and Rock Types

Non-Benders with Normal and Fighting Types

While the remaining 8 types of Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fairy, Grass, Poison, Psychic and Steel are unaligned.

Type-Matches only take a moment to form, non-Type-Matches can take years. Any Firebender could reach out and Call for a Pokémon and expect a Fire Type or even an Electric Type to appear. It would take much longer, years of gentle coaxing and familiarisation, for a Firebender to Bond with a Water-Type Pokémon.

A Pure Match-Type is the easiest to Bond and it is what most people Call instinctively, it can happen in a matter of seconds as a Pokémon’s Chi accepts yours.

A Mixed Match-Type is a little harder to Bond, where a Duel Type Pokemon has one of their Types Match your Element and the other that doesn’t. There are varieties of Mixed Match-Types, the Personality Mixed Match-Type which is relatively easy and the Cross Mixed Match-Type which is fairly hard.

A Personality-Type is medium difficulty to Bond, which are Pokémon Types that don’t Match to any Element and are generally neutral to your Chi. Personality-Types generally Bond around the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes.

A Pure Cross-Type is the hardest Bond to achieve because it involves a Chi-Bond between two sets of Chi that are naturally opposed to each other. All Elements have two Corresponding Types and find it very difficult to Bond with a Type from another Element. Hardest is the Duel Cross-Type because you have to deal with two opposing Types. Mixed Cross Match-Type are easiest because one Type opposes and the other invites. Mixed Personality Cross Types are easier than a pure Cross-Type because half the Chi is neutral but still very hard.

Generally a person’s first Pokémon is a Type-Match and their second Pokémon is a Personality-Match, but this is just an average not a rule.

Pokemon that evolve from or into a different Type are both slightly easier and slightly harder to Bond with, depending on which way you are approaching this.

Eevee is a Normal Type, which means that non-benders have an easier time Bonding with it. However Eevee has multiple Evolutions of different Types, which makes it slightly harder to Bond with for a non-bender, but not a lot, because some of these Evolutions are Personality-Types. On the other hand while Eevee is a Normal-Type which makes it very difficult for a bender to Bond with it, at the same time Eevee is easier than most Normal-Types because its Evolutions are Types benders can bond with, although Fire and Water benders will have the easiest time of it while Air and Earth benders will have a much harder time.

This might result in a Bond that takes a while to form or a Bond that once in place causes a quick evolution into a form more matched with the person’s Chi.
