Chapter Text
Walking down the hall to his door, Jin feels unsettled. Something is different this time, he can already tell today is not going to go like a usual day for him.
Sure enough, he hears voices in his apartment and notices his door is unlocked. For a fraction of a second he feels fear of a possible intruder, but then remebers his apartment complex is one of the top in the city of Seoul curtesy of his high paying job. They would only let somebody in if their names are in his family list.
He walks in and his mom immediatly walks towards him from the direction of the living room, which he can see from the entry hall that his father is seated on the couch facing where the tv is.
"Honey, how are you? Sorry to stop by last minute but it was an emergency." She says as she comes up to give him a quick motherly greeting.
He's suspicious immediately, his parents never pay him a visit they much rather stay in their villa or head to the country club like usual rich folk. If they're not in either of those places, they're on a cruise.
"An emergency? What's wrong?" he side eyes her as he hangs up his keys and stores his jacket away.
"Well your father and I were invited by the Im's, you know the Im's, to a getaway, and we just have to go it would be rude to decline them a second time, goodness you know how catty Mrs. Im can get" she says with a roll of her eyes.
He cuts her off before she starts her weekly rant again about her husbands business partner's wife. "You always leave on getaways...why is this one different?"
She grins at me. "Mina will be staying with you while we are gone."
"Mina? She's here?" That's when Jin notices the small murmur of conversation in his living room and rushes over to greet his friend.
When he reaches the living room, he sees that Mina is sitting across from his father.
Mina notices his presence and her face immediatly breaks out into a big bunny smile, she jumps up at the same time Jin starts walking over to give her a big hug.
He is filled with warmth at seeing the bunny hybrid. Jin was an only child but thankfuly Mina has been around since he was six and though they are completly different species, in their eyes they are brother and sister.
It has been almost a year since he has last seen her.
"Hi Jinie!" she squeals as she squeezes him tight.
He happily chuckles at her excitement, "Hi Minie."
"Okay! We have to get going now if we're going to make it on time to catch the jet. It was nice seeing you sweetie." Jins mom kisses his cheeck and quickly grabs her purse from the counter, making her way to the door. His father is by the front door waving at him. "Bye!"
They walk out immediatly not even waiting for his farewells.
He should be mad, furious, or annoyed. How can he though when he gets to spend time with his favorite person.
Yeah, his parents dumped the resposibilty of another life on him without so much as a call, but it's his sister.
He can't wait to introduce her to the guys.
They talk a bit about what they have been up to in the last eleven months, and Jin just feels horrible about leaving Mina alone all that time. She is a hybrid in a wealthy household so she doesn't go to school or work but she tells Jin she has been teaching herself new instruments and sports.
She has a sort of sad smile as she talks about what she's learned, Jin can tell she is trying to lift the mood by keeping a smile, but Mina was lonely.
Once Jin had gotten hired in the city his plan was to, establish himself and then invite Mina to come and stay with him. He had lost track of his plan, leaving his best friend sad and alone. He would make this right.
He helps her unpack her suitcases in the guest room, and tells her about how they will be meeting his friends tomorrow.
"Ah my replacements." she jokes.
"Replacements? Nobody can replace my sister."
"You did not even tell me you made friends, I had to hear from your mom Jinie." she pouts.
He is about to speak up and apologize but she contiues
"I was glad when I did hear though, I was very worried you would be alone here. It brought me a peace of mind."
Now he feels worse. He has been a shitty brother.
"I can't wait for you to meet them tomorrow."
Mina gives Jin a shy smile. He knows she is not use to meeting new people, but his friends are nice people, so he knows she will warm up to them in no time.
They bid their goodnights and get some rest.

In the morning, Jin prepares some spinach pancakes for Mina. When Jin was first learning how to cook, he had been messing around in the kitchen one day, and it ended with finding a new favorite dish for the bunny hybrid.
"Tell me about your friends Jinie!" Mina asks when they're sitting together in the morning having breakfast.
The hybrid was feeling a little bit of anxiety, the only people she mainly interacted with was the Kim family. When the family would go out they would bring her along, and she would smile at strangers but she really only ever talked to three humans.
It was fine because Jin was always with her when he was not at school, he had trouble making friends all his life so they had each other.
"They're really nice guys! I met Hoseok and Namjoon at work and got along really well with them, so they started inviting me to hangout outside of work and I met their other friends. They have a bunny hybrid too!" Mina was smiling at the happiness oozing out of Jin when he talked about his friends, but when she heard of the other hybrid she felt a split second of sadness.
It seemed Jin really had replaced her, no wonder she had not heard from him. She was not worried about the humans, but another hybrid, specifically a bunny, makes her nervous.
Jin did not notice this little breakdown and kept talking.
"His name is Jungkook, and he's a hyper little brat. Completely different from you, but I'm very excited for you to meet him since you haven't met another bunny hybrid."
How odd, she remembers hearing that name the other day when she overheard a conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Kim. Now she wishes she would have actually paid attention.
Wait she actually gets to meet another bunny hybrid? Excitement and nervousness starts bubbling up, making her heart beat fast and stomach start to hurt.
Yeah she's a little worried about this hybrid taking her place but she pushes that to the back of her mind and focuses on the fact that she finally gets to interact with another bunny hybrid!
"I can't wait!" he smiles at her answer and they continue finishing their breakfast so they can head over to the guys house. Jin had explained to her that most of his friends, with the exception of one, all lived together.
Once they're done, Mina changes from her pj's to a small white cropped t-shirt, her favorite because it has a drawing of a cute carrot on it, some pastel pink short overalls and white high-top converse. Jin has changed as well to his usual casual clothes, of a pink hoodie, some black jeans and white pumas.
They lock up and head to Jin's car, Mina's stomach is still a little upset from her nerves but she distracts herself by listening to Jin tell stories about his friends.
