blackberry muffins

Summary:

Park Jimin really loves the blackberry puff pastry muffins and will follow them to the ends of the world if he doesn’t see them on the shelf of the store.

Work Text:

Park Jimin loves the blackberry puff pastry muffins that are sold in the little but cozy store around the corner of his house. That’s where the pink-haired guy goes every day at exactly 7:00 p.m., to buy this delicious pastry that the lovely saleswoman always saves specifically for him. She always greets Min with a smile when he approaches the register with a frown or a festive mood. But Park doesn’t see the auntie or his favourite muffins today. Instead, there’s some tall guy holding a phone in his hand and not paying any attention to the guest. Jimin gets lost for a couple of minutes looking at the guy from head to toe, but later loses interest in the subject and goes to his favourite pastry, simultaneously cussing at the new psychology teacher, who kept him in class for a couple of "minutes”, which then turned into a couple of hours, so he didn’t come to the store exactly at 7:00, but 20 minutes later. All the way, Park was afraid of not seeing his most delicious muffins on the shelf, and, because of this, walking all angry, furrowing his little eyebrows. And he wasn’t wrong when there was nothing in the place where the pastry was, with his favourite filling. Park bites his lip out of resentment, almost cries, realising it’s the worst day of his life, and rushes to the register to find out from that handsome guy if there are any muffins behind the counter, and then kill him if they’re not there.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you from important business, but could you check the counter for any blackberry muffins.” Park gets all squeamish when the guy gets distracted by the pink top of his head and starts looking at him with his brown eyes filled with something dark and heavy. “Auntie used to always save them for me.”

His voice begins to tremble at the end of the sentence and becomes even quieter than it was, Min feels that he will now be eaten or thrown out of the store for his words. He even shuts his eyes when the brunette on the opposite side lays his phone aside and puts his elbows on the surface, his hands holding his head. The latter smiles when the pink cutie pie jumps back with a quiet squeak, like he’s scared of him.

“No, there’s nothing here,” Jeon speaks slowly, dropping his voice an octave down, and enjoys the look on the face of the pink-haired man, which changes rapidly in the same second.

“What do you mean, no?” Min pushes the guy aside and looks behind the counter for his "drugs", biting his lower lip from anger until it bleeds. “You ate them, didn’t you?!”

Jungkook watches the guy without ceasing to smile, and then starts laughing out loud when the angry hamster with pink hair starts staring at him. Jimin gets frustrated, and because of this, draws back his red and swollen lower lip with shame and hits him in the shoulder with his little hand.

“What are you laughing for?” Park knows he’s being stupid right now and that he’ll be very ashamed of his behaviour later, but when it comes to his favourite muffins, Min will do anything even if it means killing such a handsome boy.

“I didn’t eat them, honestly.” Jeon manages to hold back his laughter for a bit, holding onto his stomach, which is already starting to hurt. “You ate all the muffins, and you blame me.”

Park is mentally counting to ten, trying to calm himself down so as not to strangle the brunette with his little fingers, which probably won’t cover his entire neck. This makes him even angrier and he hits him on the other side. Jungkook, with the words "ow, that hurts", rubs the place where he was hit and goes to the end of the store, but a minute later returns from there with his black hoodie.

“I didn’t eat anything!” Min pouts with his full lips, which are glistening with saliva, and follows the tall guy.

Jeon turns off the light in the room, after letting through the pink head, which still pouts in a cute way, and closes the store. Jimin just carefully stares at him, his brain crashing slightly, when he sees in front of him a large and powerful back, but quickly retreats back into the real world when that same back begins to move rapidly away from him in the other direction.

“Hey, where are you going?” The pink-haired guy, puffing, quickly catches up with him, grabbing the sleeve of his hoodie. He pulls him towards himself, trying to stop that tower, so it turns its attention to little Park. “What about my favourite muffins?”

Jungkook tries not to smile, pressing his lips together into a thin line, and stays silent. Minie groans louder than the first time and grabs the sleeve of the hoodie with the other hand. Jeon quickly turns his face the other way, smiles though, but never ceases to be silent, torturing the poor guy, who walks with him.

“Who’s gonna take responsibility for the loss of my blackberry puff pastry muffins, huh?!” Park stamps his little foot when they stop by the road.

“You’re gonna break the asphalt if you stomp like that.” Jeon grabs his hand when the green man lights up at the stoplight and the cars start to brake.

“I’m not fat!”

Jimin resents the words coming from the guy, who’s holding his hand tightly and dragging him to the middle of nowhere. For him, extra weight has always been the main problem in his life, and this closet strikes a nerve and is not even ashamed of the fact that that hurt Park a lot. And Jungkook is mad at himself and his words, but there’s nothing he can do.

“I take responsibility for the loss of your favourite pastry,” after a while, Jeon breaks their silence with his voice. “We’ll find your muffins, just don’t whine.”

The pink-haired guy beams because no one has ever looked for his favourite muffins for him. He almost hops, tightly hugging his saviour, surprised when he grabs his own hand behind the guy’s back. Jeon only eyes the pink head that he snuggles to his chest. His heart begins to beat furiously, so he detaches Park’s body from himself, hoping that Park did not hear anything. Only he did, but he didn’t admit it because he was standing all red and mentally beating himself up for what he’d done.

“Em… thanks,” he mumbles to himself and wants his words to be heard by no one, but the brunette hears everything perfectly, so he smiles softly and continues to walk, this time without taking Min’s hand.

An hour later, they are going to almost every store, but they aren’t finding Park’s favourite muffins. The latter whines for a long time because he is tired and wants to sleep, but continues the search with Jeon.

“Wait, I don’t even know your name.” Jimin remembers this only now and mentally beats himself up many times for it.

“Jeon Jungkook, 22 years old.” The brunette stops by a little bake shop that mum talked about in the morning and drags him inside.

“So, I’m your hyung.” Min is surprised because he thought the other was older.

“Yep.” Jungkook looks closely at the fresh muffins and finds the ones Park needs. The latter rejoices for a long time, forgetting about the fatigue and his stomach, which has long since begun to howl.

“Thank you, Jungkookie.” Jimin still continues to enjoy his favourite pastry, eating it on the street. “You saved my life.”

Park stands up on his tip toes, quickly kissing Jungkook on the lips, and continues to eat his life’s beauty. Jeon opens his eyes wide in shock, but quickly recovers, licking the taste of blackberries off his lips.

“You’re welcome, Jimin-ah.”

He gives himself an A for the great plan, thanks his mum for the help, and catches up to his muffin. Still, it was a good idea to let mum go early and work the rest of her hours for her. He didn’t spend so much time looking for that muffin for nothing.
