Chapter Text
It was a normal day for everyone. They woke up from a night-long sleep, ate with each other in the dining room, went to classes. That's why everyone was surprised when Nedzu took Deku away. They asked Aizawa why he was taking him, but he shrugged, not knowing either. Why didn't Aizawa know? What was going on?
Was it finally time for Midoriya's interrogation? That was probably it, the class didn't know about that though. They only had their own suspicion brought up by Monona. Why they listened to him was beyond them.
He told them about how there was a traitor, or that's what the teacher thought. He said that Midoriya was the only suspect. They asked why and he followed it up with, he sells his analytics to the league.
They thought it over, that... that somehow made sense. None of them knew why he wanted to always ask so many questions about their quirks, and never returned their own questions. Bakugou once and a while slips up and calls him quirkless... for some reason.
He once was in the dorms common room and was muttering while writing in his notebook."Uraraka-chan could easily kill someone by floating them, but she could also easily be put out of commission if her hands were broken." Uraraka heard him say that before running to Tsuyu and Iida, which was then heard by the "BakuSquad".
Bakugou never thought the nerd could be a villain, selling information. He was too weak, too driven to be a hero. But what did he really know about the boy now? He knew he got his quirk from All Might, he knew that he spent all his free time outside of UA with his mother, no not his foster mother, but Bakugou's. He knew that Deku didn't have the fucking balls to even think of selling information.
He started the hobby when they were kids, he was the first entry in the first book and the second and the third and the fourth and the fifth and the sixth and the seventh and the eighth... in all of them. He'd read through the books when he could... when Deku forgave him.
"The nerd didn't do fucking anything, he's too weak too, "Bakugou said before standing and walking out of the room.
As Nedzu walked Deku down the halls of UA... he walked him out of the massive high school, right to a police car. He got into the car with no struggle, he didn't speak at all. He knew what was happening. They found out he was formerly quirkless. They knew and were going to kick him out of the UA.
They got to the department, they walked him down the halls and into a room. A different police officer stood in the room. On the metal table, which he was handcuffed to, had his missing analytics book.
"Izuku Midoriya, we've been given permission to proceed with your interrogation by your foster family, they will be in the other room with your school principal,"he said before sitting down in front of him. His face contorted.
"How long have you been taking notes on quirks," he asked standing.
"Since I was 7."
"How many books do you have filled with analytics," he asked again.
"17," he responded.
"Do you use any codes or encryptions in these?"
"No, I never thought to."
"Who has access to these books?"
"Anyone who can get into my dorm room, but I don't show anyone."
"Why do you list weaknesses?"
"So I can help my friends and teachers."
"Why did a newly debuted hero that you have notes on. Die on their second mission by a reason you stated in one of your books?"
"Maybe someone else saw the weakness too!"
"Why have you never taken notes on any villains or your own quirk?"
"I can't get enough information on villain quirks from videos, since they're normally hero focused."
"But why don't you take notes on your own quirk?"
"I-i uhm... I can't say," he said and looked down.
"WHY DON'T YOU TAKE NOTE ON VILLAINS! Is it because your friends are with them and they promise to keep you safe? Is it because you're one of them?"Izuku finally realized, they thought he was a traitor.
"I'm-I'm not a traitor, I would never!" he said looking at the police with wide eyes, "Where's Tsukauchi-kun? He'll be able to tell you the truth!"
"He's on his way! Now..!"
The interrogation went on for two hours, the officer getting angrier and angrier with each time Izuku denied being the traitor.
"I'm not guilty... I'm not guilty... I'm not guilty... I'm not guilty...I'm not guilty..." he repeated as he shook, tears streaming down his face. All the memories are suppressed from his childhood coming back.
"You.Will.Never.Be.A.Hero!"
"QUIRKLESS BASTARD!"
"USELESS!"
"Take a swan dive off the roof and maybe you'll be born with a quirk in your next life."
"FACE THE REALITY DEKU! YOU CAN'T BE A HERO!"
"HAHA... look at the stupid quirkless Deku... get a quirk yet? Have you ever heard of a quirkless hero? Have you ever seen a villain without a quirk? You couldn't even go as low as a villain!"
"FUCKING USELESS!"
"Die already. Just fucking die. Nobody would miss you!"
"Aww... Izu-chan... are you alright?" one of his new classmates asked him as he sat on the ground after being tripped.
"Y-yeah, I am," he hiccuped out. His classmate nodded to him, holding a hand out. He smiled before going to grab it, his hand was burned. He pulled back as he held back a scream. His face contorted with pain as tears flooded his face.
"Maybe if you weren't quirkless... your family would be alive, "someone else said. That was too far. He started sobbing before running out of the room. He didn't return to school for over a week. No new news was out about him either. Until he came back the next week.
No one asked where he had been... no one cared. Katsuki noticed and was curious but didn't ask.
After the week Deku curled into himself at any hint of someone's quirk. He flinched as they taunted him. He then came to school extremely happy one day, seemingly changing overnight.
He didn't seem as hurt by their words anymore. He didn't seem to mind their bullying. He... he wasn't scared.
"GET A FUCKING QUIRK... you useless fucker. If you can't... please do the world a favor and kill yourself"someone yelled.
"Take a swan dive from the roof."
"Do us all a favor..."
"DIE!"
"Not even the villains want you!"
"No one loves you."
He stood on the rooftop. High. High. High. High up in the night sky. He looked down at the few people walking on the streets. He... he couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't. He started to step when a scarf wrapped around him.
"No you don't,"a gruff, tired voice said,"Kid, you wanna talk it out," it said as a tall man with long black hair and yellow goggles stood next to him as the scarf pulled him away from the ledge.
"No," he said before walking away, tears slipping down his face as he jumped down the fire escape before running home, leaving the hero on the roof confused.
Then he was told by All Might that he couldn't be a hero, then after he saved Kacchan's life, he said he could. But what had really changed? He was told he was going to be trained by All Might himself before he could take the quirk.
He cleaned the beach, and then happily accepted the quirk before the entrance exam, but the thoughts blurred from when he saved Kacchan to two weeks ago.
"Ooh sorry Deku, but we were planning on making dinner tonight," Kirishima said as Izuku was pulling the ingredients for his mother's katsudon out.
"Oh Okay..." he said and looked down, he walked back to his room and didn't come down for dinner. This was the second time they took his day for cooking.
"Hey Uraraka-chan, can we study together," he asked his friend as they went to lunch.
"Not today, I'm studying with Iida and Tsuyu," she said and that's what she said every day till the test. Everyone was treating him differently. They stopped talking to him, avoiding him in the halls. No one wanted to pair up with him for group projects anymore, no one would come near him. No one came to his room to remind him about dinner or invite him to their weekly movie night.
Well, that's all a lie. Kacchan wasn't. When it was his turn to make dinner, he always went to Izuku's room to get him, or the few times he did go to movie night, he would drag the greenette with him. He was the only one that would pair up with him, Kirishima and Kaminari always coming over and asking if he wanted to join them, for Kacchan to 'Tsk' at them before turning back to Izuku.
He no longer sat with them during lunch, cause if he did, no one would talk to him. He missed Todoroki, the other wasn't at school for the week for unknown reasons, and it was burning his heart that the one friend he still had, wasn't there with him.
He skipped breakfast every morning, once and a while finding Kacchan at his door to slap an apple and protein drink in his hands before stomping away, back down the hall huffing to himself.
He'd slowly eat and drink what Kacchan had given him before the day started, savoring it, because it was a gift and he was grateful to Kacchan for still caring.
He left for the day of being ignored and side eyed by the teacher. At least English class wasn't bad and neither was Homeroom or any of Aizawa's other classes. Mic-sensei didn't treat him any different and that too made him grateful.
After the day ended, Izuku saw Kaachan walking back to the dorms and ran. He ran for him and hugged the boy, crying softly before letting go saying,"Thank you for staying with me Kacchan,"then he ran back to his dorm room, locking himself away for the night.
"Izuku-kun, nice to see you. I'm so sorry it took me so-"Tsukauchi stopped, he saw the boy crying as he kicked the other officer out. He was shaking."Fuck."he huffed out under his breath.
"Izuku-kun, could you please calm down, it's alright,"he said softly. Izuku still shook his thoughts, so caught up in his mind.
They taught he was the traitor. They didn't believe him. He looked up at Tsukauchi tears stopping, his normally emotion filled eyes empty. He was empty. They broke him. They were blank as he looked at the detective.
Tsukauchi asked him the questions again, but he didn't answer, he stopped talking half an hour ago. He was far too late to show everyone that he, Mic, and Aizawa had been right. He kept trying, but he just wouldn't answer. He left after an hour of asking the questions, asking him anything to get him to talk, but he refused.
They placed Izuku in a cell, everything that he could harm himself with was taken off his person before he was locked up. They were already setting up a court day, since the truth couldn't be determined via Tsukauchi's quirk, it would be determined by a jury.
News traveled to UA and Aizawa called all of his students to the commons room to explain what was going on.
"Izuku has been taken in by the police under suspicion, they've told me he stopped talking and responding to them in any way before Tsukauchi could arrive, therefore his fate is being determined by a jury. He's not coming back to school, but being held in the police department,"he said before moving to leave them to talk by themselves.
Bakugou yelled before stomping to his room and Todoroki who had just got back this evening followed, heat radiating off of him. Everyone still in the living room whispered and not so quietly talked about how they knew it!
Aizawa left the dorms and went to his own home. He remained calm until he was in the safety of his and Hizashi's apartment. He shut the door and yelled. He couldn't protect his problem child. He couldn't defend him even though he knew the boy wasn't the traitor. His cats skittishly walked to him as he sobbed.
Hizashi had his radio show tonight. He wouldn't be home till nearly 4 in the morning.
Shouta made a cup of coffee before crying on his couch. He couldn't take it, there was no way he could protect the boy if he didn't talk. He could get Shinsou to use his quirk on him, but that wouldn't work either, because he needed a verbal response.
He couldn't do this. He should've found a way to stop them. If the jury said Midoriya was guilty of selling information, he would be a criminal, his dream of being a hero, thrown away. He thought of Midoriya as his own son!
He'd try his absolute best to protect Midoriya, even if he lost his job as both a teacher and hero.
