    Summary

Caleb had never possessed any particularly strong opinions about the ocean. He was simply indifferent. The sea provided no nostalgia, no fear and little apprehension travelling with the Nein; It was an endless, easily forgotten mass in the back of his busy mind. And worrying about the sea itself was never a pressing concern- there were enemies in the water, of course, and a ship to care for, but the sea itself was something Caleb considered safe, especially with the constant ability to breathe under it.

He would find this belief to be an embarrassingly naive one.
