Chapter Text
Katsuki Bakugo found himself doing the same thing every day, and of course, this foggy Sunday morning was no exception. He pulled himself off of his twin-sized mattress and let out a quiet sigh as his bare feet hit the cold wood flooring of his bedroom. The walls were painted a light shade of grey but you would never know because Katsuki covered his walls with posters, drawings, records, and anything else he could put up to fill the empty space. He pulled on his clothes and a pair of shoes before preparing himself to face the two strangers in his home he calls his "parents''.
It was like walking on eggshells in the Bakugo home. Katsuki's mother was just as explosive as he was and his father did nothing to help. It was day after day of Katsuki yelling back and forth with his mother only for her to hit him by the end of the argument leaving Katsuki trembling because he always expected more hits to follow after, and sometimes they did. In the end, he couldn't even remember what she was screaming at him for. It was always something so small like not saying good morning or forgetting to clean up after himself. Everything is always blown out of proportion in the Bakugo home. Of course, he would never tell anyone about his shitty home life. It was none of their business anyway.
As Katsuki slowly crept down his stairs, careful not to let them creak to alert his parents of his presence, he held his breath. He just needed to make it out the back door. Just a few more steps then he could round the corner and- He forgot about that damn last step. It whined obnoxiously with a low creak as he pressed his foot on it. He cringed knowing what was coming next. Damn this old house.
"Katsuki I know you are not going back to that damn creek!" A loud voice said from the kitchen.
"Shut it hag! I'll go if I want!" Katsuki yelled back to his mother. He rushed out the door while hearing his mother saying something about if he's going to "keep talking to her like that, then don't come back". Always the same shit with her. He grumbled to himself and threw his hands in the pockets of his baggy ripped jeans. He called his dog, dynamite, a boxer to come follow him to his creek. Yes, his.
Katsuki always walked the same way to that creak he loved so much. It was his getaway, his latibule if you would. Every day without a fail Katsuki woke up, walked through the woods that calmly lived behind his house all to go to his safe place to be alone. This was his paradise and no one could take it away from him.
Katsuki touched the moss that grew on the trunks of the trees and listened to the sound of the birds singing. Sometimes he wished he were a bird. Sing all day, fly away from every one, no stress, no yelling parents. Just...nature. He took a deep breath as he neared his favorite place. He heard the sound of soft streaming water and smiled softly. He took comfort in the sound of his dog following close behind him.
As he approached the small creak he walked over to his favorite low rock to sit on. It had the perfect view over the water and everything that was beyond the other side of the creek. When he got closer he saw someone else had taken his spot. Who the fuck?
There sat a red-haired boy. He was sitting on Katsuki's rock! No one sits on Katsuki's rock! The red-haired boy sat faced away from him. Katsuki watched as his shoulder-length red hair blew softly in the wind. Was he wearing a flower crown? Who cares! He was sitting on Katsuki's rock!
Katsuki stomped over to the boy, no, the trespasser. Yeah, he stomped over to the damned trespasser and did what any sensible 16-year-old boy would. He pushed him off and into the trickling water.
"ACK!" The trespasser yelled.
Katsuki smirked proudly to himself as he stood on his rock. His throne. Yeah, he was the king of this place. The rock was bigger than the rest that sat along the creek. It was just a few inches taller than the rest and big enough for him to lay comfortably on. He looked down at the now drenched red-haired boy and said "You were in my spot"
The red-haired boy- ahem, trespasser looked up at Katsuki who had his arms crossed with a smug smirk on his face. The sun was shining through the leaves of the trees and hit Katsuki just right. His red eyes sparkled in the morning sun as he stared back at the boy whose jaw was dropped.
The boy scrambled to get up from the creek for he was so distracted by Katsuki's ash blonde hair and fierce eyes to realize he was still sitting in the cold water he was so kindly pushed into.
"Haha! Sorry man didn't mean to take your spot there!" He laughed out before shyly rubbing the back of his neck. "Anyway, my name is-" The boy couldn't even introduce himself before Katsuki interrupted.
"Shut up, don't care. Why the hell were you in my spot?" He asked, putting unnecessary emphasis on the fact it was his.
Katsuki narrowed his eyes at the boy and waited for an answer. Now that he got a good look at him, he had to admit; he was stunning. His bright red hair shone in the sunlight that was accompanied by a flower crown made of daisies that sat crookedly on top of his head. His tanned skin glistened in the morning sun beautifully and very faint freckles were sprinkled across his nose. The boy smiled radiantly showing off his sharp teeth. Katsuki questioned if the boy was even human for a moment. He looked like an angel sent to earth for him to stare at and appreciate. He forced himself to stop staring and roll his eyes to cover up the fact he was just shamelessly checking the other boy out.
"Um well, I come here all the time to get away from my dad. Usually not this early in the morning I would usually sneak out at night. It's a very pretty part of the woods. I love nature but- Oh sorry I'm rambling. I've just never seen anyone out here before." The bright boy answered while simultaneously picking a few flowers that were around his feet.
Despite him saying he was out here to get away from his dad, he still smiled. Katsuki raised his brow at the boy's answer. How could he be so happy? The flowers he picked seemed to spring up with life under his fingertips and the sun almost made a spotlight for the smiling boy. Katsuki found himself entranced.
"What's your name, flower boy?" Katsuki asked as he stepped off his place on the rock to get a closer look at the boy.
"Eijirou Kirishima! What about yours?" The boy now known as Kirishima asked with expecting eyes.
"Trespassers like you don't get to know," Katsuki said, turning his head from Kirishima. Damn flower boy, it's hard not to stare at him. Dynamite sat behind Katsuki and couldn't care less about the stranger his owner was talking to.
"Trespassers?! Sorry man I didn't know your family owned this part of the woods" Kirishima apologized again.
Katsuki's shoulders tensed for a moment. "Ah- well, it's technically not ours b-but," He said "I come here every day so it's my fucking spot, got it, flower boy?! I'm out here till the sun goes down and I sure as hell have never seen you here before." Katsuki yelled before jabbing Kirishima in the chest with his pointer finger.
"Oh! Well, mystery man-"
"Don't fucking call me that"
"I come out here pretty late after my dad falls asleep so-"
"Your dad," Katsuki interrupted, "You keep mentioning your fucking dad. Why the hell are you hiding from him?" He asked in a sort of annoyed tone.
Kirishima's smile fell just for a second before he laughed again making Katsuki furrow his eyebrows in suspicion.
"I-I'm not hiding from him, I don't have any reason to hide from my dad that's not manly and totally uncool and-"
"Okay! You don't have to tell me! Fuck, you talk a lot." Katsuki noticed how the other refused to look at him while he answered his question. He sighed knowingly at why Kirishima freaked out like that. Guess they both have their reasons for wanting to stay away from home for as long as possible. Not that it was his business anyway, he had his own shit to worry about.
"Well?" Kirishima smiled.
"What?" Bakugo grumbled before going back to sit on his rock. He snapped his fingers twice causing Dynamite to come sit next to him. Something about Katsuki's protectiveness of his spot and the grumbles he lets out reminds Kirishima of a troll guarding his bridge.
"Why do you always come here?" Kirishima asked while climbing up to sit with his new friend and his dog. Katsuki huffed and laid back and looked up at the sky.
"Same as you I guess..." What the hell was he saying? "To get away from my shitty family." This was not good. Something about the flower boy's warm smile and colorful presence made Katsuki want to tell him things. He cursed himself for not thinking before he spoke to the redhead.
Kirishima smiled that blinding smile again. "So I guess we can share this spot from now on, huh?!"
No, definitely not. This was Katsuki's rock and this was Katsuki's spot. No one can take it away from him.
"Yeah sure, whatever flower boy."
Well, this was definitely not good.
The radiant boy beamed up at Katsuki. "Does this mean I get to know your name now? C'mon man tell me!" Kirishima jokingly jabbed Katsuki with his elbow.
Katsuki thought about it for a moment but that all it was. A thought. He turned away from the bright boy with a low grunt.
"You are a stubborn one aren't you dude. I bet you're a Taurus, are you a Taurus?" Kirishima asked while looking up at the sky. "I love horoscopes, I'm never wrong when I guess what someone's zodiac sign is!"
Katsuki rolled his eyes, "Yeah I'm a Taurus so what?!" He yelled.
"That's so manly dude!"
After a while the two boys found themselves sitting side by side on Katsuki's rock talking about everything. Well, Kirishima was talking and Katsuki was just nodding his head before answering with short one-liners.
"You know, we just met but I feel like I've known you forever! Crazy right?" Kirishima smiled.
"Yeah, you are crazy." Katsuki rolled his eyes.
Maybe he was crazy too because Katsuki felt the exact same way.
