Work Text:

Living with John Locke, or Loki since nobody who really knew him ever called him by the full name, was a challenge. Their home was the den of chaos. Pancakes for dinner? You know it! A kiddie pool in the middle of living room? Let just put some fish in there, get a fishing rod and you can call it camping! A Christmas tree set up on the kitchen ceiling in the middle of July? Probably the most normal thing that happened in years!

The one thing that remained constant was oversleeping. Loki was definitely not a morning person. The day he got up before noon would be the day the world certainly ended.

Alex, on the other hand, was an extremely light sleeper and the first rays on morning sun usually woke him up from slumber.

It was just after 6am when he got up and stumbled down the stairs to kitchen to get coffee and some normal breakfast before Loki followed and demanded something ridiculous like chocolate fondue.

Alex chuckled at the thought and checked their stash of chocolate. Loki had a sweet tooth, they needed to be ready. Always.

Munching on a piece of toast with butter and jam, Alex headed to the living room and plopped on a bouncy castle they had instead of a sofa. He found his book between pillows. It was all covered in crumbs from yesterday’s pie but a few pats were enough to clean it.

It was nearly 1pm when Loki finally stumbled down the stairs, hair in disarray, trying to zip up a dress while holding a comb in one hand. Apparently, it was a girl day.

“Come here.” Alex sat up straight as Loki plopped on the floor in front of him.

Alex took the comb she offered but put it on the side to zip up the dress first. Loki’s shoulders relaxed slightly when the dress was in place.

Gently, Alex combed through the unruly hair next. Loki liked her hair high so he styled it into a bun with small braids surrounding it like a nest. Loki handed him a flowery ribbon that was just in the shade of her azure dress.

Living with Loki in their den of chaos was certainly interesting and Alex loved it. He especially loved the quiet moments like this one. He wouldn’t change it for anything else in the world.

Tying the ribbon in place, Alex kissed the top of Loki’s head.

“Good morning,” he said.

“Good morning,” she replied smiling brilliantly.
