One night, Katsuki decided to go to sleep earlier than usual. He had a pretty long day and was very tired. Hitoshi asked if he wanted to eat dinner first, but he replied that he’d already eaten before he came home. So, he just let him sleep while he continued to work in his office. But a few hours had already passed when he finally heard him screaming.
He ran to the bedroom and checked on him. He was sitting up on the bed, tears streaming down from his eyes as he cried, “No! Toshi! Please, come back! Come back!” He sounded so hurt and scared as he pleaded. It was devastating; but to Hitoshi, it was the most heart-breaking thing he had ever witnessed the blonde do.
The taller male ran to him and cupped his face as he tried to wake him up. “Hey, Suki. I’m here—” he wiped the blonde’s tears with his thumbs—“I’m right here.”
Katsuki was shaking, trembling as he pulled on the bedsheets around him. He didn’t seem like he was going to stop anytime soon, so Hitoshi resorted to squeezing his chest with his arms and rubbing his hair. Soon, he finally stopped screaming and his shoulders stopped heaving.
He blinked his eyes open. “T-Toshi?”
Hitoshi looks at him and cups his face, looking into his eyes. When he sees he’s okay, he smiled softly. “Hey, baby…”
Katsuki’s face scrunches up a little again as he starts crying, holding the other male’s face as he laughs. “H-hi… Hitoshi…”
Then he hugs him tightly, sobbing again. “It’s you… It’s really you…”
Hitoshi, while finally realizing what had happened, pet the blonde’s hair as he let him cry into his chest. “Bad dream again?”
Katsuki nuzzled the other’s chest longingly, sniffling, “Yeah. A really bad one.”
“Wanna tell me about it?”
The blonde stopped nuzzling him, his face falling a little glum. “Y-you… You were gone.”
There was a little crack in his voice. That made Hitoshi’s heart just shatter to pieces. It made him want to cry as well.
“But I’m not.”
He took Katsuki’s face in his hands, smiling softly at him. The blonde looked at him with semi-confused, teary eyes. That face told him a lot. He was so soft, so gentle. It told him that he was never gonna leave him, that he wasn’t going anywhere. It told him that he was here to stay. And that was more than enough validity for the blonde.
“I love you,” Hitoshi told him in a soft, semi-sarcastic tone.
Katsuki smiled, “Dumbass.”
But deep down, he loved hearing that from him. And Hitoshi knew that he loved him too.
