Before Sunrise (He's Your Son)

Summary:

Jack wakes Sam up to go fishing. AU with a young Jack Kline who lives in the bunker with Castiel, Sam and Dean. Just a short, plot-less ficlet because I think it's cute that Sam and Castiel are Jack's dads. :)

Notes:

It's been so long!

Work Text:

Sam's training kicked in, and his eyes snapped open at the sound of his door slowly being pushed open. He watched light seep in from the hallway, first a sliver, then slowly expanding. He only released the breath he was holding when he saw the light obscured by a small shadow. The shadow of someone no taller than four feet.

Sam smothered his smile and shut his eyes. He listened as the soft sound of sock-covered footsteps got closer to the bed. He kept his breath deep and steady even as he could feel Jack standing by his head.

"Papa," Jack whispered. He had practiced keeping his voice low as he whispered, and while his whispers were strained, Sam continued feigning sleep.

"Papa," Jack whispered again, louder.

Jack shook Sam's shoulder. Sam let out a loud snore.

"Papa!" Jack giggled.

"Shh," Castiel hushed. Castiel's arms circled Sam's middle. Castiel pulled Sam's body towards his own.

Castiel said quietly, "Your papa is sleeping. So is your father, for that matter."

"You do not sleep," Jack said. "Wake Papa up. He said we would go fishing."

Sam hummed, "I don't remember saying that."

"You promised!"

Sam lifted his head. In the dim room, he could see Jack pouting, arms crossed. There was a slight golden glow to Jack's eyes.

As though reading Sam's thoughts, Castiel said, "It's 3:22 in the morning."

"Is Dean up?" Sam asked.

There was silence for a moment, then Castiel said, "No."

Wordlessly, Sam and Castiel moved back in the bed, leaving a space at the edge. Sam held the blanket open. Jack climbed on the bed and got under the covers with Sam and Castiel.

"We'll sleep five more minutes--"

"Ten more minutes," Sam murmured.

"Ten more minutes," Castiel said. "And then we'll get up and get ready, all right?"

"Okay!" Jack agreed, snuggling into Sam's chest.

Jack fidgeted, getting comfortable until Castiel whispered something to him in Enochian. Jack nodded his head and yawned. Within moments, Jack was asleep.

"I only caught half of that," Sam said, eyes drooping. He looked back at Castiel, "What did you say to him?"

"I told him if he sleeps now, when he wakes, Dean will make us breakfast."

Sam hummed and shut his eyes. He didn't know how Castiel would convince Dean to make breakfast, but it was only fair. It was Dean who said the best fishing happens at sunrise.
