Work Text:
Akechi stood outside Penguin Sniper in Kichijoji as always when he saw a familiar blonde walking down the street in her usual pink sweater vest and purple music note skirt.
“Akamatsu-san!” he yelled and waved a hand up to catch her attention. She looked over in shock and smiled when she saw who was calling her. He smiled in return and waved her over. “Hello! How are you? I saw you looking at a book before I called you, what was it about?”
“Hi! I’m good, and I was looking at a set of sheet music!” her eyes were glowing with interest once she began talking about notes and other piano related things Akechi didn’t understand. He just smiled and nodded as she spoke. “I’ve been playing piano since as long as I can remember! It’s a beautiful hobby of mine and I wouldn’t give it up for the world. Sadly, I don’t have a piano where I’m currently living, but I’ll get through for the year.”
Akechi let her words sink in. “A year? You’re leaving once the year ends?”
“Yeah, I’m here on probation. In my hometown someone was getting harassed, and I stepped in to help, but the man was drunk and fell over. He sued me and apparently he was a higher up, so I lost in court and was sent to Tokyo on probation. Not the best circumstances, but I’ll manage!” she rocked back and forth on her heels while she spoke.
“I see.. I apologize for prying, I must have brought down the mood..” Akechi sighed, and looked down a bit to meet Kaede’s eyes.
“Oh no, don’t worry! It’s fine, I don’t like to look down on the situation, I’m not gonna get anywhere by moping around, am I?” she smiled and placed her hands on her hips. She wasn’t proud of that moment, but she wasn’t going to let it get her down.
“Well how about we go do something, would you like to go back and look at that music book?” Akechi asked, kicking off the wall and walking past Kaede. He turned his head over his shoulder, giving a small, but genuine smile. She quickly caught up to Akechi as he continued to the shop he saw Kaede at when he first initiated their conversation. She smiled as she picked up the same book from before and started describing the songs within.
