Anthony stood there eyes wide as he watched Kate... his Kate... (well technically not yet! Everything had gone wrong today... he hadn’t been able to get her alone long enough to bloody ask her...) engulf someone else... another man... in a bone crushing hug.
Who the bloody hell at his damn company had the audacity to hug his girlfriend like that?
And why was her head thrown back into a wide crackle... who dared made her laugh like that...
Anthony felt his blood pounding in his heart, heard the roar of rage through his ears as his eyes narrowed.
Why was he touching her?!
Right... he needed to intervene... this was getting out of hand...
As he went to move and take a step forward his path was blocked... by Sophie.
If it had been anyone else he’d have growled and shouted at them to move out of his bloody way but Sophie was too damn nice to shout at, and he had to admit, if he shouted at Sophie, Benedict would only give him grief and most definitely would punch him.
Sophie noted Anthony’s clenched jaw, his balled up fist and cocked her head “Anthony is everything okay?” She asked in her usual friendly and eternally happy voice.
Through gritted teeth Anthony said “of course Sophie... if you’ll excuse me i need to go rescue Kate... she looks like she’s been hounded”
Sophie turned her head and laughed as she saw who Anthony was with. “Hounded? That’s hardly true... that’s Tim!” She said as she giggled
“Who the fuck is Tim?” Anthony shot wondering what the hell was going on... and why the name sounded familiar.
“Tim from shipping... he’s been planning to propose to his boyfriend for weeks... Kate had been helping him plan it as she went to Uni with Karl...” Sophie said with glee in her voice.
“Karl? The new hire in legal?” Anthony blinked
“Yes... he asked Karl this morning down by the lake. Karl had been so surprised he fell backwards into the lake” Sophie said
“Oh...” Anthony said relief washing over him
Sophie narrowed her eyes “were you jealous of Tim??”
“No! No....” Anthony said shifting, noting the glint in Sophie’s eye as she grinned and not liking it one bit... she’d clearly been spending too much time with Kate.
“Yes you were! Oh this is amazing! Jealous of Tim!” She giggled brightly “I’ve got to tell Kate!”
She turned on her heels and skipped off before Anthony could stop her
“Sophie!!!!! Don’t you dare!!!” She just waved at him so Anthony turned and shouted across the room his voice frantic and panicked, if Kate heard this he’d never live it down.
So he did the only thing left to him... and shouted again, now sounding like a madman “Benedict control your bloody lunatic of a girlfriend!!!”
