Work Text:
Mari hears a sudden knocking on her window. She looks up and sees it’s Chat’s face. ‘Come in’ she mouths. He opens her window and tumbles onto her bed.
“You know, you could come in through the front door. I’m sure my parents would be delighted to see you,” Mari mutters jokingly, focusing on her newest design.
He mutters something unintelligible into her pillow.
Mari, looks up at that, suddenly seeing the blood on Chat’s face, exclaims, “WHAT HAPPENED?!”
Chat rolls over. “There was some guy with a knife. Tried to…steal some things. Stopped him.”
Mari falls out of her desk chair in her hurry to get to him. When she finally stumbles up to him, she sees he has a long gash—doesn’t look very deep—across his chest.
“Idiot,” she mutters, kissing him lightly. “I’ll go get some supplies to fix you up.”
She climbs off her loft and speed walks to her bathroom, hoping her parents are sound asleep. Mari grabs painkillers, rubbing alcohol, and bandages.
Now back in her room, Mari begins walking towards her chaise—which she sees Chat has somehow moved to—when she hears a knock on her door.
“Mari? Is everything okay in there? I thought I heard a thump and a scream a couple minutes ago?” Shit, Mari thinks, her dad is still awake, of course.
She looks accusingly at Chat in time to see him mouth ‘sorry’. “What do I do?” Mari whispers back, which earns a slight shrug and then wince from Chat.
Mari peeks out of her door and says, “Nothing, I just tripped over some material and stubbed my toe. Ow.”
“Well okay then, do you want any fudge? I just made some,” Mari’s dad responds after an eye roll at his daughter’s clumsiness.
“No,” Mari snaps, huffing slightly. “I don’t want any fudge, I’m not a child.” Chat looks like he’s questioning why this woman is his girlfriend when he hears this.
Tom responds, trying to sound affronted but used to his daughter’s strange behavior, “Weren’t you saying just last week how you wanted to live in a chocolate house?”
Mari stalls at this. “Sorry, I’m just…it’s not a good time of the month. Goodnight Papa,” she says, taking a piece of fudge before closing her door.
She hears a muffled “goodnight” from her father through her door.
Chat, peeking out from where he has tried to hidden behind the chaise jokes, “Chocolate house, huh? I’d live there with you, m’lady.”
Mari rolls her eyes, trying to hide her smile and says, “Why am I dating you again?”
“Pffff, like you could live without me,” Chat responds, trying not to wince as Mari begins cleaning the wound on his chest.
Chat detransforms so Mari can bandage his wound, and gives Plagg some fudge Mari ending up accepting from Tom.
After Mari finishes, she makes to snuggle against Adrien as she tucks in the end of his bandages, Adrien, not wanting to stay still—even though he’s injured—says to Mari, “Wanna get out of here?”
Mari, of course, says yes and they both head up the balcony, each saying their transformation words as they jump off the railing.
