Work Text:
It was a beautiful night in Snowchester. The stars were shining in the cloudless sky, there was only a slight breeze, and the air was warm in a comforting way. Ranboo sat on a hill, Tubbo next to them. Tubbo’s hand was holding theirs, rubbing his thumb on the back of their hand. Tubbo’s gaze was facing up at the sky, while Ranboo’s gaze was on Tubbo.
They were looking at Tubbo’s beauty. His hair was out of his eyes for once, fluffy and soft. His lips were pink, contrasting the scarred skin of his face. The scars stretched from the right side of his face, across his eyes. His eyes were the loveliest eyes Ranboo had ever seen. They were a light cloudy blue. Ranboo had never seen anyone as amazing as their husband.
“You’re beautiful.” Ranboo softly spoke, afraid to disturb the peace.
Tubbo snickered, empty gaze still facing the sky. “I have no way of knowing that, but I still think you’re wrong.”
“I mean it. You’re so, so beautiful.”
“I know I haven’t seen myself since I got them, but I know I’ve got scars all over my face. I can feel them. How could I be ‘so, so beautiful’? Even before the execution I wasn’t the best looking.” Tubbo’s smile faltered, trying not to show his pain.
“Tubbo, I love you and your scars. You’re beautiful and your scars are a part of you. I know you don’t believe me, but just know I would never lie to you about something like this. When I say you’re beautiful, I mean it.” Ranboo stroked his cheek with his thumb.
Tubbo laughed, a bit embarrassed. “Alright, fine.”
Tubbo curled up at Ranboo’s side, head laying on their chest.
“I bet you’re beautiful too.” Tubbo said, voice gentle. “You sound pretty. I like your voice.”
Ranboo blushed, “Well, I wouldn’t say I’m the best looking, but I’m not bad looking.”
“What do you look like? Can you describe yourself to me?”
Ranboo thought for a moment. “Well, I’m half enderman, half something. Half of my face is black and the other half is white. My right eye is green and my left is red. My hair is black and white too. Um… I’ve got horns, a tail, and sharp fangs. I’m really tall, but I’m sure you know that. Yeah, I think that’s it?”
“That’s so cool. You’re amazing.” Tubbo smiled, imagining his husband. “I really wish that I could see you. Just one time.” His smile seemed a bit sad. “I just feel so useless sometimes. I rely on people so much now. Back before the execution, I was a soldier, a spy, I was so… capable. But now I can’t even see.”
“Bee, you are capable. You may not have your sight, but you still do so much by yourself. You take care of me and Michael, but you also take care of yourself. Your lack of sight doesn’t make you useless. I can’t understand how you feel, but I just want you to know that I love you.”
Tubbo kissed them.
“I love you too, Boo.”
