Surprise

Summary:

“You’ve been ordering the same thing each day since you started coming here,” Keefe noted.
“Your point?” Her eyes didn’t leave the laptop in front of her.
“C’mon Sophie, change it up a bit!”
She shrugged, “Everything else here sucks.”
“Maybe,” he laughed, “but you’ll never know that for sure until you try something else.”
“Fine,” she agreed, rolling her eyes.

Notes:

This... Is very short (wow so eloquent)
I WAS working on this... Uh... Extremely crack chapter earlier this week, it involved a circus, but my sibling said not to post it so oh well-
Leave a comment if you want to see that, it's the worst thing I've ever written but it might be fun!
Hope you like this part!

Work Text:

“You’ve been ordering the same thing each day since you started coming here,” Keefe noted.

“Your point?” Her eyes didn’t leave the laptop in front of her.

“C’mon Sophie, change it up a bit!”

She shrugged, “Everything else here sucks.”

“Maybe,” he laughed, “but you’ll never know that for sure until you try something else.”

“Fine,” she agreed, rolling her eyes.

He grinned, “Finally! What do you wanna get?”

“Uh… surprise me,” her eyes were still glued to the screen.

His walking away was met by a sigh of relief from her. While Sophie usually enjoyed Keefe’s company,
her upcoming midterms put a dampener on social interactions. She had multiple projects and
assignments to turn in- and she actually needed to study too.

The upside of being hyper focused was that she got a good amount of work done. The downside- she
didn’t notice Keefe’s grin as he headed back to her. He stared expectantly upon placing the cup down on
the platform. Too concentrated to lift her head, she didn’t bother to look at the cup before sipping its contents.

“Well?”

She gently closed the laptop and stared at him.

“Soph?”

“Only my friends get to call me that.”

“Damn, okay So- uh. Foster.”

His response was met with silence.

She held his gaze as he started to shift uncomfortably.

“I’m assuming you didn’t like it?”

Staring.

“Look- say something,” he tapped his fingers on the counter. “Please?”

Her lack of a response was enough of an answer.

“Okay, what if I just got you your usual? On the house?”

“That would be nice.”

He blinked.

“You’re scary.”

“That’s the idea,” she winked.

“Wait- you’re not even really mad!?”

“Only a little bit. Whatever you put in that cup was atrocious.”

He pouted, “That’s not very nice.”

“Mhm- I still expect that free drink, though.”

Notes:

I am literally working on the next part right now.
This one was also short, and honestly? The next major thing I have mapped out as of right now is still a while away.
I mean it's not like I said this would have a plot to begin with tho So-
Any feedback/suggestions are appreciated as always, hope you have a great day/night!
