“As I'm sure you can no doubt tell, sweet thing,” Alcina suddenly speaks up, furiously reapplying a coat of lipstick. “Mother Miranda has sprung yet another last-minute meeting on me when she called earlier this morning. Which isn’t something out of the ordinary, mind you. Rather unfortunately, she has quite the knack for doing so but, I digress. Usually, these last-minute gatherings do not bother me in the slightest but…this time…well, this time is…different…”
“Different? Different…h-how so?” You cautiously ask, already not liking where this was going.
Alcina takes a moment to quickly examine her imperfect makeup work in the compact mirror, ultimately deeming it as satisfactory for the time being. In the same breath, she knows she’s prevaricating around the bush, not exactly sure how to approach this in the right way. But, with the imminent arrival of her guest any moment now, she supposes it’s time to just rip the band-aid off the wound and just get it over with already...
