A dashing hero

Summary:

When Adrien decides to joke with Marinette, he doesn't expect that she'd jump him!

Notes:

Ok, you asked for this. (I really, really hope you don't laugh! Sorry if you do!)

Friday calls for being silly 😁 I didn't expect that I'd have to write the missing Miraculouses but then this idea took hold and well 🤭

Work Text:

To an outsider, it might seem strange that Marinette liked taking out the Miraculouses and cleaning them. But it was a very comforting activity for her. Even without villains out there, she was still the Guardian and the kwamis were like her babies while the Miraculouses were beautiful. Besides, the more time passed since the final battle, the more confident she felt in their ability to keep the restored peace. So she could even linger on the previously missing Miraculouses without the memories weighing on her.

Adrien caught her just as she was polishing the Butterfly brooch. He was used to her strange habit.  Something flickered in his eyes when he saw what she was holding but he smiled.

“Nostalgia?” He asked.

“It’s just good to have them back,” she sighed.

“I know.”

‘Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Nooroo had fallen in good hands,” she mused out loud. “You know, in a moment of madness, I actually considered the possibility of you being Hawk Moth!”

“Meouch, m’lady,” he pretended to be hurt but chuckled.

“I would have had a lot of trouble fighting you. I’m sure you would have looked dashing,” she sighed dreamily. It was good to be able to joke about this.

“Want to see?” He offered, sounding all too eager. He wouldn't miss an opportunity to make her swoon.

“What? No!” Was her instant reaction.

“Come on!” He took the brooch in his hand. “Nooroo, will you mind if I try something?” He asked when the purple kwami appeared before him.

“Not at all, go ahead,” the kwami smiled at him.

“See?” Adrien shot her a triumphant grin before saying,” Nooroo, wings rise!”

Instead of complicated maneuvers, Marinette was surprised to see him just do a full circle amid a flash of purple before pausing in front of her.

“Oh, wow!” She gasped as she took him in. She got up and walked around him.

It was unlikely anything she’d expected. His suit was a lot looser than their usual ones, combining lighter and darker purple elements. But it was the mask that caught her attention. It wasn’t glued to his skin, but instead looked like it was wrapped around his eyes and fastened at the back of his head. When she could see the back of him, she saw she was right. His hair looked a little longer but tidier and he had a wide-brimmed hat on top of his head. But it was the cape, swishing around when he moved, that impressed her the most. And the cane he twirled in his hand.

She took a step back, looking him over and came to a startling conclusion that made her laugh out loud.

“Hey, that’s not very nice,” Adrien grumbled, pouting. This only made her laugh harder.

“You,” she hiccupped, “look.. like… a.. purple Zorro,” she got out before doubling over with laughter again.

When she regained her composure and looked at Adrien, she could see he was trying not to laugh. His lips were twitching and when their eyes met, he barked out a laugh.

“You did it on purpose!” she cried out, suddenly seeing through him.

“I mean, it is up to me. I always thought this would be a good look.” He grinned.

“Hm… I kind of approve,” she admitted. He  totally rocked the vigilante look.

“Lord Butterfly, at your service,” he bowed.

This made her snort.

“Zorro was not a lord,” she reminded him.

“Shh, leave that to me.”

“Ok then. How about we go to the bedroom for a while then.”

“Um, what for?” He asked, clearly confused.

“I can be on the run and you can catch me,” she said in a seductive voice.

“M’lady, I’m scandalised! I never knew you were into roleplay,” he chuckled.

“Well, I wasn’t. Until now.”

She took a step towards him and pulled him down for a kiss, hiding them behind his hat. It was like a scene straight out of a movie.

“Mm, yes, it’s great to break the law,” she declared when she pulled back. Then she ran away from him with a wink.

“Get back here!”

She couldn't wait for him to catch her.
