Summary
Ainosuke's heard the stories of foxes with the ability to use magic; to take human shape and use illusions. Most of the stories involve a mischievous fox tricking an unwary traveler or overconfident hunter, but Ainosuke is no easy prey.
The Kitsune must sense this, because he sighs, lifting his hands in surrender. “I see you are cleverer than I gave you credit for young lord.” His eyes narrow. “Let us strike a bargain then. What can I offer you in exchange for my life and my freedom?”
Ainosuke angles the arrow toward the earth and raises an eyebrow, still wary. “What could you possibly give me that would be worth it?”
