Work Text:

Sophie’s hand curled around the doorknob.
It wasn’t too late to turn back.
She was about to leave, but
the thought of how he would react gave her the confidence she needed to open the door and walk in.

Keefe, who was wiping counters, instantly looked up on hearing the bell.
His faced paled.
What is she doing here?

Dex nudged him, “Is there a problem, Sencen?”
“Shut up, Dizznee,” He shot back, not taking his eyes off her.

She was smiling- and she winked when their eyes met.
The audacity.
Of course she was here on the one day he had specifically asked her not to come. He’d texted her; she
knew his manager was going to be there.
But she was there at a quarter to four, like clockwork- with her arm around her bag and everything.
The worst part- her usual seat was open.

He forced a smile as she sat down, “Hello! How can I help you?”
“Could I please have a menu?”
“of course!” He forced enthusiasm. “Just give me a minute!”
“Thank you!” She smirked.
“Been coming here since the start of the semester and you’ve never asked for a menu before,” he
muttered as he reached for one.

Sophie chuckled, and seconds later, Keefe’s phone vibrated. It was, as usual, on the counter. He couldn’t
help but read it as he handed her the menu.
“Here you go-”

I heard that. -S

Ma’am.”
She raised her eyebrows as he walked away.

Keefe only returned to Sophie to get her order- and maybe check his phone.

Someone’s being formal today. -S

“Are you ready to order, Ma’am?”
“Yeah, I’ll have the dark roast.”
“Shocker,” He whispered, scowling as he went to make it for her.
He was already eyeing his phone when he returned.

It’S nOt LiKe ShE’s BeEn OrDeRiNg ThAt FoReVeR -_- - S
Now it was his turned to laugh, which made her smile.
After making sure his manager wasn’t watching, she grabbed his wrist, sending shivers up his spine.

“Look,” she whispered. “I’m not here to make your life harder.”
He gulped, “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. It’s just that all the other coffee shops in the area have horrible wifi or coffee. Or both.”
“Still- I would’ve liked a warning.”
“I would have said something, but you can’t be checking your phone in the middle of a shift! So
unprofessional!”
He stuck his tongue out at her.
“That’s exactly what you shouldn’t be doing.”
“Whatever. I have to get back to work.”
“Aw- Oh my gosh- you’re wearing your name tag!”

Notes:

Awww look at them being cute.
...
This is slow burn for a reason there's still so much more until even the mutual pining.
Okie I basically ranted at the start so I'm done
