Work Text:
Idan slipped into the shadow-laden bedroom, sighing silently in relief as he felt an invisible weight lift off of him. The shadows were becoming more comforting day by day, though he didn’t stop to consider whether that was because all Dark energy was becoming more manageable or because the shadows in their home belong to Hadrian, Wikhn, and Devrim.
The Gheyo Queen waited for a minute, watching for the cues that would allow him to approach closer. When he spotted them, he practically collapsed on the familiar bed.
“Long day?” Devrim asked quietly.
“Unsettled magic,” Idan responded. “It’s more draining than I’d like—and don’t tell me I should go to Riven or Quinn. I’d like to go a month without either of them trying to poke at me.”
Devrim growled, mostly to himself. and shifted so he was draped over Idan as much as possible, using his body as a grounding force. “How bad?” he asked.
Idan’s fangs ground together for a second. “My skin’s been crawling,” he admitted.
Devrim huffed. Very bad then. “I’m leaving for the Vampire realm in six hours,” he grumbled, tugging on his shadows to allow them freer reign of the room. They crept closer to the bed nearly as soon as released. “You should have found me sooner.”
“Delay it?” Idan suggested grumpily, though he eased a bit more with the more obvious presence of the shadows.
“You get to explain that to Wikhn,” Devrim returned.
Idan winced. “I’ll find Hadrian when you leave,” he promised.
“How about Wikhn sends Hadrian to you instead?” Devrim countered, knowing his way would ensure the Queen and ACE spent some quality time together. “You two can mope together.”
Idan huffed. “We don’t mope,” he protested.
“Yes, you do.”
