Amity looked in the mirror, she was wearing a dark green dress, her hair was dyed a mint green with her brown roots showing and she had a small amount of makeup on her face. Tonight was the night of her sister's wedding rehearsal dinner and tomorrow was the actual wedding. Since Amity was the maid of honor it seemed important to attend this dinner. This was all happening at this hotel she was currently staying at. It was time for the rehearsal and once she was sure she looked presentable she walked down to the hotel's ballroom.
Amity was one of the first people to arrive at the wedding rehearsal dinner. As she entered she immediately saw two figures standing by the door. The first was a man with blonde hair wearing a tuxedo but the person next to him really grabbed Amity’s attention. It was her older sister Emira who was wearing a yellow dress and her eyes widened when she saw her approaching.
“Mittens, you look amazing!”
“So do you” Amity said in response
The two sisters went and hugged each other for a few seconds before letting go. Amity then glanced over to her soon to be brother-in-law.
“Hey Hunter”
“Hi Amity”
She went to go hug him too but made it much briefer. After letting him go she backed up to get a good look at them both. Emira and Hunter have been together for about three years now and have been engaged for the past year. Amity never spent much time around Hunter and didn’t know a lot about him but she knew how much he loved her sister.
“Ok so for now you can go ahead and mingle with other guests and dinner will start in a few minutes. I think you will be sitting next to Luz”
“Who’s Luz?” Amity said In confusion
“She’s my best woman” Hunter answered “she should be here any minute.”
“I think I’ve told you about her? Em said to her sister to her sister
“Oh yeah, I remember that now” Amity said thinking back “she’s your little sister right?”
“She’s not actually my sister,” the blond responded, “me and her just have a very sibling-like relationship.”
“Well I can’t wait to meet her”
Amity walked off and went to say hi to people she already knew and introduced herself to people she’s never met before. She also got a chance to talk to her brother Edric and her parents. After a few minutes passed Amity glanced at the door as someone new entered the door. Amity's eyes widened when she got a good look at the person.
Walking into the room was a girl, about Amity’s age. She was probably a couple inches taller than Amity with long dark brown hair, and light brown eyes. The girl was wearing a basic looking purple dress and it didn’t seem like she had any makeup on but Amity thought she looked gorgeous regardless. She had such a natural beauty.
The girl immediately went and gave Hunter a big hug and then did the same with Emira. After saying a few words to them, that she couldn’t hear from where she was, the brunette looked in Amity’s direction and she realized she was caught staring. Amity quickly walked away as she felt a blush spreading across her face but before she could get far she heard her sister speak up.
“Ok everyone the dinner will be starting soon so please find your reserved seats.” The bride said to everyone in the room
Amity sighed in relief as she walked over to the dining table in the middle of the room. But just as she was about to sit down in the spot that had “Amity Blight” written on a name tag, the girl she was staring at walked right up to her.
“Hi there, I’m Luz, Luz Noceda”
“Luz?!” Amity froze as she processed that name. This is the girl they were talking about before? This was Hunter's best woman? This is the person she will be sitting by all night? Amity had a feeling this would be a very awkward dinner.
“What’s your name?” The Latina said with curiosity
“My name is Amity Blight”
“Oh your Emira’s little sister, right?”
The two of them decided to sit down as they talked
“Yes, I am. And you are kinda like a sister to Hunter, right?”
“Yeah, neither of us have actual siblings but a lot of people say we give off sibling energy.”
“That’s actually pretty sweet” the green haired woman said with a smile growing on her face”
“Yeah, I’m so happy to see him getting married” a moment passed before Luz said anything else “Sooo I saw you when I walked in the room” The Latina said, her voice suddenly sounding flirty.
Amity could feel her face go beat red “Oh uh, no I wasn’t staring at you” the youngest blight said trying to act natural.
“I never said you were.” the best woman responded which caused the maid of honor to freeze in her chair “It’s fine, it’s fine. You don’t look so bad yourself.” She said with a flirty facial expression as she scooted closer to Amity.
Amity didn’t know what to say as she stared into those brown eyes. But luckily she didn’t have too as dinner was served. Before they could eat, Emira gave a little speech about how she was so excited for tomorrow and thanked everyone for coming. The next hour went by as everyone ate their meals and some people made small talk with the person next to them.
Amity was stealing glances at Luz as she thought about the conversation they were having and she believes Luz was doing the same. Once the meal was over everyone went to say goodnight to the engaged couple before heading out of the ballroom.
“Hey Amity, hang on a sec” the best woman said stepping in front of Amity as they were now in the lobby of the hotel. “I just wanna say it was nice meeting you and I’m looking forward to being part of the wedding with you.
Amity smiled , “Yeah, I’m looking forward to it too.”
“Also” the Latina said, leaning closer with a flirtatious smirk on her face, “if you want I could save you a dance at the reception.”
As those words left the other girl’s mouth, Amity blushed once again and Luz’s smile grew as she noticed it. The dark haired girl then winked at Amity before finally walking away, leaving the green haired girl to drown in her thoughts.
It was now clear to Amity that tomorrow will be much more interesting than she expected. And she was looking forward to it.
