Work Text:

There is a blackout in the lab while Jayce and Viktor were working. They weren’t sure if it was because of the Arcane or if it was because of the brewing storm outside. Either way, there were in a dark room with only the light emitting from the hexcore and some hexcore gems laying around, and the moonlight that shown through the window next to the couch.

“What do you think could of happened?” Viktor bit his lip and put his finger on his chin. Jayce just stared, “Well-“ A loud boom resounded, and a sharp jolt of light, lighting both Jayce’s and Viktor’s expressions. Jayce didn’t need to explain, they knew that the power wasn’t their fault, unlike last time.

Jayce heard Viktor sigh and sit in his chair. “Well what can we do,” Viktor shuffled around until his head was resting againts his desk. “I guess we can just sit and wait,” Jayce plopped down on the couch littered with dust and paper.

Jayce ran his fingers through his hair and watched the window. Another loud boom filled the room’s silence, the earth shaking with it. “I remember when I was a kid, and I would get so scared of this weather. My mother would spend ages trying to calm my shaking.”

He frowned at the mention of his mother, she was a still a sore subject. She passed away a few months prior and he could regret everything he hasn’t done for her.

“I used to be afraid of this weather too, but there was no one to comfort me in the undercity, I had to fight my fears myself.” Viktor sighed. “I wish I knew what it felt like…”

Jayce looked at Viktor, or where his voice came from. The rain pattered violently, the moonlight barely reaching Viktor’s foot. “What it felt like?” Viktor looked down. “To be comforted and stuff, it’s kind of stupid.”

Jayce bit his lip. “Are you still scared?”
“A little… I mean what can a kid do to stop his frightfullness. Not much, I can tell you that.” Jayce moved some papers from next to him patted the cushion. Viktor’s eyebrow rose. “I can show you what it feels like.”

“That isn’t necassary.”

“I feel it is, everyone needs that comfort.”

“I don’t need it, Jayce, I’m ok. I appreciate it though.”

Jayce huffed, getting up from the couch and walking towards Viktor. Jayce picked up a startled Viktor bridal style and carried him back to the couch. “Jayce—“
Jayce sat down and placed Viktor next to him, positioning them both to where they could be comfortable.

Viktor’s head was spinning, ‘what just happened?’ Jayce placed his arm over Viktor’s shoulders and started stroking his hair. “Jayce what are you doing?”
“This is what my mother would do, but I don’t have a story to tell you, so sorry about that.”

Viktor leaned into the touch humming, the hands in his hair gave him a pleasing sensation. “You can tell me about your idea for Hextech. How it even came to mind, if your alright with that.” Jayce smiled fondly. “Alright, but it’s super long and super boring.” Viktor snickered, “Nothing about you is boring Jayce.”

Jayce felt a small blush rise at the statement. “Well it was a long time ago, when I was around 10 years of age, and it was snowing outside. Not a calm snow, no, but a harsh one. A blizzard, if you will.”

Viktor hummed while he nodded listening intently, his eyes feeling heavy as the gentle caresses kept on. “My mother and I were trying to find a way out of town, on foot. It was cold, and everything was so white. Then I saw my mother fall down, she was cold to the touch. I felt that all hope was lost, we were in the middle of nowhere and I was just a kid. The storm didn’t let up either, in fact it felt like it just got harder.

Then, I see this man. He was dressed in a blue cloak, and his face was hidden. He waved around something that gave off a blue hue. He had the Arcane. It was like nothing I ever seen. There was blue everywhere, magic, there were runes filling the sky. Then the next thing I knew, he teleported me and my mom to a warm and beautiful place.

My mom was saved that day, and he gave me this stone that you see here,” Jayce pointed to his armband, having to take his fingers out of Viktor’s hair. Putting his fingers back, he continued. “And thats why I strive to make this hextech work, because I seen what it can do, how it can save lives. Like how it save my mom’s.”

Viktor looked up at him. “That’s an incredible story, Jayce. I hope you are proud of yourself for getting this far, like how I’m proud for you.” Thunder cracked in the background as lighting flashed again. Viktor pushed further into Jayce.

“Thank you Jayce, I needed this.” Jayce smiled, “If you need this again you can always contact me.” Viktor smiled as his breath evened. Jayce looked at him whispering, “Hey, did you fall asleep on me?”

Jayce smirked and picked Viktor up, careful as to not wake him. He positioned them to where Jayce was laying under Viktor on the couch. Viktor’s stomach pressed against his, his legs intertwined, and both of their hearts beating at each others pace.

Jayce looked at him. He kissed Viktor’s forehead before snuggling further into his warmth. Falling asleep on rainy days has never been so easy.

Notes:

Wow.
That was awful, my first work. I never publish anything because I’m afraid of negative feedback.
If you are going to my criticize this please be nice or I might cry.

Also I killed off Jayce’s mom for pure drama that doesn’t even happen.
