"Chanyeol." Baekhyun called the moment he saw him. They are in the seaside, the sound of waves doing nothing to calm his nerves.
"Tomorrow," Baekhyun paused, breathing in the fresh air to get some courage to continue.
"Tomorrow will be my surgery."
Chanyeol's breath hitched as he heard it. His eyes widened but no words came out of his mouth.
"There's no guarantee whether I'll survive or not. The doctors even said my chances of survival are low."
Baekhyun told him.
"So today, I have decided." Baekhyun's eyes focused on the ground, afraid that once he looks at Chanyeol's eyes, his weak resolve will break.
"I'm breaking up with you."
Silence passed by. Chanyeol only stared at Baekhyun, still not saying anything.
"Come on, aren't you gonna say anything?" Baekhyun's voice shaked as he uttered those words.
"Go on, tell me I'm unfair, tell me I'm being selfish." Tears started to fall from Baekhyun's eyes, the sobs he's trying to suppress are coming out. Chanyeol can't stand at the sight of his lover becoming a wreck.
"Tell me you hate me."
Baekhyun softly said, strength slowly leaving him.
"I love you."
Baekhyun's heart clenched hearing Chanyeol's answer.
"Tell me you're tired of me."
"I will never get tired of taking care of you."
"Tell me," he sobbed. "Tell me you regret meeting me."
Chanyeol pulled him in his arms.
"Meeting you is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Baekhyun let out a painful cry as he heard those words.
"I'm sorry." He tried to say through the tears. Apologies kept spilling from his mouth as Chanyeol hugged him tighter and tighter, as if telling him he'll never let go.
"You deserve so much more. You deserve someone who could be with you until the end, someone who's time isn't limited" Baekhyun cried as he clutched on Chanyeol's back.
"I know what I signed up for, Baekhyun. I know what my heart wants."
Chanyeol pushed Baekhyun lightly to see his face. He caressed the smaller's face, wiping his tears.
"It beats for you, Baekhyun. Only for you."
Tears formed once again in Baekhyun's eyes. Chanyeol brought his face closer and kissed his forehead softly. His lips lingered for a while as if sealing a promise.
"I won't give up on you. I will stay with you until the end. Don't worry about hurting me."
Chanyeol whispered his promise as they hugged once again. Never letting go of each other.
