Writing Filk Is Hard [Filk]

Summary:

A filk writer faces writer's block and reminisces their glorious prolific days.

To the tune of "Memory"

Notes:

You know how you go from writing filks in like 20 minutes to just… nothing? Yeah, so I had a terrible writer's block when I had to write a filk for something and it just wasn't happening. I felt bad for not meeting the deadline just because I couldn't find a song to filk and my mind didn't want to cooperate, so I felt like nothing worked. I have the tendency to want to sing dramatic, powerful, and loud songs when I'm down, so one night I sat down and ended up writing this so I could sing "Memory." And my block disappeared. Turns out writing what you feel in a filk format can actually help you get back the love and want of writing filks!

Anyway, this has been in my computer for months and I only had to get enough confidence to post it and sing it. So now here it is!

Song I’d had stuck have now ceased to be working
Author’s bothered when the page’s not cluttered

Daylight
I must write ‘fore the deadline
I must think of a new line
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
But no filk’s yet to begin

Burnt out brain’s out of more days
To think of finishing touches
My battery dies, another night is over
And I have made no progress

Write it
It's not easy to filk it
I’m alone with the memory
Of my favorite songs
If you write filks
You'll understand what this feeling is
Look a new filk has been sung
