Second Chance

Summary:

Alec lost his whole family in a car accident. To survive, he began to steal. When the police catch him one day. One of the officers will offer him a second chance, will Alec accept it? Or will he end up in jail?

Chapter Text

A tall, hazel-eyed boy looked around the street, watching his victim. And then he saw it, a man was looking in his bag for his ringing phone. The man in a hurry forgot to zipped the bag and took the call. The young man waited for nothing, and with an agile movement and nimble fingers he pulled a wallet out of man´s bag and disappeared into the crowd before anyone noticed. He pulled a loaf of bread from his bag. In his place in the abandoned building, he broke the bread into pieces and bit into it the cheese he had stolen the day before.

***

Alec was an orphan, his entire family died in a car accident, and he was the only survivor. He ran from the authorities and hid. He definitely didn't want to go to the orphanage. He only stole to survive, food and some money. Today's catch was more than generous. He shoved the last piece of cheese and bread into his mouth and rolled on a moth-eaten mattress. He could not hide even at his home. Their original house was sold by a real estate agency. Because he is still a minor and declared missing and no one else was.

***

A smile crossed Alec's face. His new victim seemed to be from a wealthy family. He was lucky. He approached her in a learned manner and held out his hand. Another hand gripped his hand, and Alec swallowed. He raised his head. Cop! Alec freed himself from his grip and fled.

"Hey, stop!" Cop shouted after him. Alec was intertwined with the crowd, unfortunately his whole street was crowded with police patrols today.

"Raj, catch that brat!" Shouted the policeman chasing after Alec. The man he addressed as Raj knocked Alec to the ground.

"Ouch!" Alec groaned as the policeman knelt at him.

"Let me go!" Alec shouted as the policeman picked him up and led him to the car. "I did not do anything!"

***

"Bane you're going to babysit!" Raj grinned. Screw you! Alec rolled his eyes.

"Why me?" The Asian asked.

"You're new here," Raj replied, shoving Alec into the cell and lock it.

"Shouldn't we call an orphanage?" Magnus wondered. "This one is definitely not of legal age yet."

"Not interested!" Raj shouted as he left. Magnus sighed and slid behind the table. He caught the thief's gaze, clear hatred in his eyes.

"Don't look at me like that, I'm not thrilled to have to babysit you," Magnus grinned in his direction.

"Nobody asks for it," Alec returned.

Later, Magnus brought the prisoners food. Alec glared at him and didn't even touch it.

"Then grieve!" Magnus shook his head. "You're acting like a child!"

"Weren't you the one who said a few hours ago I wasn't even an adult?" Alec stuck out his tongue. "And I'm not, for another four years," he shrugged.

"Don't you really want to?" Magnus moved the tray closer. "It's not that bad."

"Fuck you!!!" Alec replied.

"As you think."

There was silence at the police station.

Chapter 2

Summary:

Magnus comes up with an idea that Alec doesn't like at all

Chapter Text

Around midnight, Alec's voice snapped Magnus out of writing. "I was just hungry."

Magnus raised his head. "What?!"

"I was just hungry. I would never steal anything extra. Always just a little money or food. ”

"It doesn't change the fact that you stole."

"Yeah, I know," Alec shrugged.

"Why?" Magnus asked.

"Why do you c ...?" Alec swallowed the word you care. "My parents and siblings died in the accident, I was the only survivor. I didn't want to go to orphanage so I started running. I've been doing well for two years, and now you've caught me. "

***

The next day, Magnus's colleague Victor Aldertree appeared.

"We'll take him to the Edom Correctional Facility tomorrow." Alec could see the panic in Magnus's eyes, he didn't understand what it was about.

"Edom," Magnus muttered as Victor left.

"What ... what's going on?" Alec wondered.

"Edom is hell, believe me," Magnus said. "I would not wish that on the worst criminals. Some of those who got there did not return and if so, in plastic bags. Suicides, overdoses. Or they ended up in psychiatry, we never found out what happened to them. "

Alec swallowed.

"You don't deserve this for a few thefts."

***

"I heard you want to move Alexander Gideon Lightwood to Edom," Magnus came into his boss's office.

"Yeah, we will," the boss nodded.

"And if I vouch for him?" Magnus asked. He knew what he was going to risk, but he had to try, he wouldn't send the boy to torture.

"14 days, Bane! If he runs away, you'll lose your job and he won't avoid Edom. ”Magnus nodded.

***

Alec stared in disbelief at the policewoman unlocking his cell.

"He's yours, Bane," she grinned. "Turn around," she told Alec as he left the cell and removed his handcuffs. "Enjoy babysitting, Bane!"

***

Magnus watched Alec, his head resting on the glass. The young man hadn't said a word all along, and Magnus wondered what was going through his head. Magnus tried to remember what it was like when he was seventeen. It wasn't easy either, his mother died and he never knew his father. He wandered through life as best he could. Unlike the boy in the passenger seat, Magnus sensed in the child. When he was out at twenty-one, he decided to help people and became a police officer.

***

Magnus felt a burning look on him. "What?" He turned his head to Alec.

"Have you run out of patience with me so soon?" The young man repeated the question.

"No," Magnus shook his head. "We're not going to Edom. You're coming home with me. "

"Why?" Alec asked with clear disinterest.

"Because after what you told me, I decided you aren´t that bad. I want to give you a chance to repair your reputation. If you stay with me for 14 days without any sign of a problem, the police and the court are willing to forgive you. "

"How generous," Alec rolled his eyes, sarcasm in his voice.

"Look, I risk a lot more here than you do. I can lose my career. "

"Then why are you doing this?" Alec asked.

"Because something in you tells me I can trust you."

Chapter 3

Summary:

Magnus tries to be a great host while Alec is looking for a way out

Chapter Text

Magnus hung his coat on a hanger.

"Put it down and I'll show you your room." Magnus opened the room at the end of the hall. It was a small, narrow room. On one side of the room was a bed, on the other a table and a wardrobe and several shelves. The space between them was just a pass. "I know it's not much, but maybe you'll like it here."

"It's a paradise for a boy who was used to sleeping on a dirty, half-eaten mattress and cover themself with ever-wet blanket," Alec replied.

"I'll leave you here. And I'll make something to eat, any special wishes? ”

"No," Alec shook his head.

Magnus placed a plate of steaming pasta with sauce in front of Alec. He poured himself some wine and placed a glass of cola in front of Alec. "Enjoy your meal."

"I guess it's useless to ask if you have a beer," Alec lifted his head from his plate.

"Forget it, you're a minor."

"I just tried," Alec shrugged. Magnus drank the wine and shook his head. They ate the rest of the dinner in silence. Alec watched Magnus wash the dishes, gritted his teeth, picked up a towel, and began to wipe it.

"Where does it belong?" He asked.

"Here," Magnus pointed to the locker in front of him. "You do not have to do it."

"And what else should I do? In this, "he threw up his hands to indicate that he meant the whole apartment. "Prison. Poking my nose? ”

"You can go read, watch TV, you can do anything."

"Can I go out?" Alec raised an eyebrow.

"We will not exaggerate it with confidence"

"I might have thought that."

***

Magnus disappeared into the bathroom to wash before going to bed. Alec looked around the apartment. He was looking for another way out, except for the main entrance. But Magnus lived on the top floor, so there was no point in running out the window. Alec's gaze was captivated by a display case in the living room. The ruby jewel inside it hit him.It must cost a fortune! If I ... I could get out of this hole! All you had to do was open the display case and take the jewelry. Alec looked around, Magnus could leave the bathroom at any moment. One quick move. Alec opened the display case and reached for the jewelry.

"The bathroom is free!" Damn! Alec cursed. I almost had it.

"Did something interest you?" A voice approached. Alec quickly slammed the display case and turned.

"No," he lied.

"I bought it for my fiancé as an engagement gift." Magnus pointed to the jewel, as if he knew where Alec's thoughts were going.

"Where is she? She probably won't be thrilled to find out you have a thief at home. "

"Who knows where she ends. When I asked for her hand, she just laughed at me that she never meant it and that I couldn't be so naive as to think it would ever work out for us. ”Alec felt angry at how someone could be so insensitive and refuse, such an amazing guy.

"I'm sorry."

"I probably wouldn't be angry if you stole it and sold it somewhere."

"I ... no ... didn't ... I didn't ... no ... didn't even think of that," Alec stammered.

"I saw how you looking at it."

Alec didn't answer, instead lowering his eyes and shuffling into the bathroom.

***

Alec couldn't sleep. Foreign place. A cop behind the door. He kicked off the duvet and lowered his feet to the ground. He quietly opened the door and reached for his jacket in the hallway. He didn´t care the cop might lose his job because of him. Everyone should have left him alone !!! Alec reached for the doorknob as he turned and his eyes fell on the open balcony door. He went out on the balcony and looked down the street.Maybe it would work he thought. A fire escape led next to the balcony. His fingers wrapped around the iron structure.

"Are you going somewhere?!" A sleepy voice came from behind him. Alec jumped with fright. And a ringing laugh came to his ears.

"Very funny!" Alec shook, slipping past Magnus and dissappered into the room Magnus had given him.

***

Both Magnus and Alec counted down the days in the calendar, each for a different reason. Alec couldn't wait to be free and Magnus, hoping there would be no disaster the rest of the time. But not everything goes according to plan.

Chapter 4

Summary:

Alec faces a problem that brings him closer to Magnus

Chapter Text

Magnus and Alec stood in line at the pet store, Magnus needed to buy food for his cat, Chairman Meow. A pretty sophisticated lady in front of them with a poodle, was just paying. Alec commented to himself that she looks like she were working somewhere in a brothel. Magnus dug him with his elbow. "The best thing for my Quennie." She muttered the dog.

"Poor dog, with a mistress like that."

"Alexander!" Magnus warned him. The lady paid and put the money back to the bag, Alec noticed that she lost some money. He bent down for them.

"Um, I'm sorry," he said. "You lost this," he handed money to her. Magnus turned and closed his eyes in relief when he saw that Alec was returning money to the woman.

"Thank you, young man. I wouldn't even notice. ”She pulled out her wallet to clean up the money. Alec wanted to join Magnus's side when the woman stopped him. "And where is the rest?"

"What's the rest?" Alec didn't understand. "I gave you what I found."

"I still had $ 50 in my wallet and they're not here."

"So you're probably paid with them elsewhere," Alec shrugged.

"He robbed me! Call a police. ”At the word a police, Alec froze.

"I didn't steal anything from you. I can't blame you for not remembering where you spent your money. ”

"Thief, catch the thief !!!"

Alec looked apologetically at Magnus. "No, not Alexander !!! Don't do it! ”Alec ignored him and ran away from the store.

"Great!" Magnus sighed.

"It looked so good." And he turned to the lady. "Magnus Bane, New York City Police." The woman looked at Magnus in disbelief.

"Then you'll catch him, won't you? I want my money back !!! I hope the thief hangs. "

Magnus would rather send her to hell! He knew Alec was trying, and he didn't believe he would rob her. Not right under Magnus' nose.

"Before we pass judgment, why don't you take an another look. If you miss the money, stop by the police station and we will definitely solve it. "

"These are the conditions, I'll complain about you."

"It is your right. And now if you'll excuse me, I have to ... go find him. "

***

It didn't take long for Magnus to find Alec. Alec sat with his head in his hands in a nearby park. When he raised his head, Magnus could see tears in his eyes.

"I expected you to come straight with the whole army." Magnus was silent. "I didn't steal anything!" Alec continued. "I could not."

"I believe you, Alec," Magnus said. "I believe you didn't steal anything."

"Why would I steal in front of the cop?" Alec asked, standing up and stretching his arms. "Search me." Magnus found no money. He found a silver necklace with a letter M in Alec's pocket.

"What is it ?!" He looked at him sternly.

"It's mine," Alec defended. "My mother gave it to me, she knew she´s dying. That help won't get to us in time. She gave it to me to remember her. It´s mine. Mine, I didn't steal it. ”Magnus silently handed Alec the necklace. Alec sniffed and fastened it around his neck. "Her name was Maryse." Alec sat back on the bench, and Magnus watched tears stream down the young man's face. He sat down next to him and wrapped his arms around him. Alec put his head on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry."

"I miss them. I miss them so much. Max had just started school, Izzy had barely reached puberty. And now they are ... they are all dead !! ”

"Shh, come here!" Magnus hugged Alec.

At home, Magnus made tea for both of them. "Thank you," Alec smiled.

"You're welcome. Are you feeling better now? ”

"A little," Alec admitted.

Chapter 5

Summary:

Not everyone is excited that Alec is among them. Magnus will help Alec find a job

Chapter Text

"I'm bored," Alec moaned in Magnus's ear as they arrived at the police station. Everyone was glaring at them.

"Then read, do a crossword puzzle or something," Magnus said to Alec.

"Don't you want to help with something?" Alec asked instead.

"I don't need to," Magnus shook his head.

"It's boring!" Alec laid his head on the table. Magnus caught an amused look from several of his colleagues. Magnus just smiled at them and shrugged.

"You know, a teenager doesn't like to sit here with a bunch of elderly people," Maia laughed.

"Hahaha," Alec raised his head and rolled his eyes.

"No. Those brats rather rob those seniors," Raj added..

Magnus peered over Alec's shoulder, who was drawing something. "That's very nice, you have talent."

A smile spread across Alec's face. "Thank you.“

"Look, I need to go to town with a colleague, there's a street fight. If you need something. Ask Maia. She will be here with you. "

Alec nodded.

"Where's your babysitter?" Alec was interrupted by a clumsy voice.

"Raj, leave him alone!" Maia warned him.

"What am I doing? I just don't like a thief hanging out here. He should sit behind bars and not run free here. "

"Magnus is in charge of him," Maia interrupted Raj.

"Yeah, and where is he? He left a criminal on our neck. Should we feed him or what? I don't like this. "

"Shut up!!!" Maia warned him. "Or I'll tell the boss. Alec didn't do anything to you. "

"No, but he robs another and I catch thieves. So it's a problem. ”Alec put down the picture and stood up from chair.

"Where do you think you're going?" Raj noticed.

"Nowhere," Alec replied. "I need to pee .Where you have ...?"

"I'll show you," Maia smiled, escorting Alec to the bathroom. "Look, ignore him. He's just asshole."

"It´s okay. I've heard worse. "

"You're pretty fine."

Alec smiled gratefully.

***

Alec was washing his hands when someone hit him on the wall.

"Hey!" Alec defended himself. And he pushed Raj away with his hands. Raj clenched his fist and hit Alec in the ribs.

"Ah!" Alec groaned until tears welled up.

"Enough!" Station Commander Luke Garroway thundered from the door.

"Get out!" He grabbed Raj by the collar and threw him out of the bathroom.

"Are you okay?" He knelt beside Alec. He nodded. "Can you get up?" Alec nodded again. Luke led him to his office. "I have a daughter a little younger than you. She would probably be bored here, too. ”He handed Alec a tablet. "There are some games. Then you can have fun before Magnus returns. ”There was a moment of silence.

"When Magnus took me in that first day," Alec began. "I wanted to run away. And then if he mentioned the incident at the pet store ..., ” Luke just nodded. "I'm really trying."

"I know," Luke nodded. "Well, that first day, I was looking for a way out. Then I noticed that Magnus had a piece of jewelry on display with a ruby in the middle. There wasn't much missing and I stole it. "

"I guess you weren´t thrilled that you suddenly had the police behind your back for 24 hours." Alec shook his head.

"But I'm really trying. I try to suppress that desire. Even though I had the urge to keep the money at the pet store, but I couldn't ... Not under Magnus's nose. And somehow, I didn't think it was right. "

"That´s good."

"What was that for?" Alec asked. "She accused me of theft anyway."

"Sometimes people will throw sticks at your feet, but you're not alone," Luke put a hand on his shoulder. "We will help you."

"Raj probably wouldn't be excited."

"He will be one of those cases that will throw sticks at your feet."

***

"Where is he ?!" Magnus burst into Luke's office and looked around in fright.

"Quiet," Luke put a finger to his lips, pointing to the sofa in the corner. "He fell asleep. He had a small incident with Raj. ”Magnus nodded understandingly. "He is a good boy. He was just unlucky in his life. "

"I know, Luke. That's why I'm willing to help him. Give him a second chance. "

***

Magnus arranged work for Alec, in the library with his friend Dot. To his and Alec's surprises, everyone there liked Alec and loved him. Alec felt happy again after a long time.

"You can go where you want, only the work at Dot will last, her clients probably wouldn't forgive us if you left."

"And I couldn't stay?" Alec asked. "At least a few more days, I'd look at the hostels and stuff."

"You can stay as long as you want," Magnus assured him. "I'm not kicking you out." Alec smiled gratefully.

"What ... What do you want ?!" Alec asked, trying to scramble to his feet, but the kick sent him to the ground again.

"Give you a lesson," Raj grinned. "We don't make friends with thieves." In the dim light of a street lamp, Alec noticed the iron pipes in their hands. They blocked his way, there was no way to escape.

He was knocked to the ground with several blows. They beat him with pipes, kicked him, spewed insults at him. Alec tried to get up, protecting his head with his hands. And he screamed for help.

"No one will come! Nobody cares! ”Raj spat at him. Blood flowed from the wounds, and Alec felt like he had broken every bone in his body. Alec turned his head.

"Ma ... Ma ... Magnus yes ... yes... yes." He grinned between his teeth.

"Yeah, and where do you have him?" Raj laughed. "He's not here because you're indifferent to him."

"No ... No ... I'm not!"

Alec whimpered painfully, his whole body aching. He couldn't even move. His torment ended with a hard blow to the nape of the neck. Alec's world plunged into darkness.

***

There was chaos in the hospital when paramedics brought Alec. They almost lost him in the ambulance. A doctors present were assigning tasks and with Alec they disappeared outside the operating room.

"Did you find him?" A nurse asked two men in front of her.

"It was him," the man pointed to a homeless man standing far enough away. "He stopped me and asked me to call an ambulance. I really hope a boy will be okay. "

"Me too," the nurse nodded. Despite numerous bruises and scars, she recognized him.Alec Lightwood. The thief, to which her friend Magnus decided to give him a second chance.

***

Magnus and his colleague Ragnor stopped on the way back to the coffee shop, dealing with a petty theft at the mall, when Magnus´s phone starts ringing.

"Who's calling you?" Ragnor asked.

"Your dear wife," Magnus replied, answering the call. "Do you miss us already? Your husband is sitting next to me if you ... ”All the words stuck in his throat as Cat spat out what had happened to him on the phone. A cup of coffee slipped out of Magnus's hands and spilled onto the sidewalk.

"Magnus?" Ragnor didn't understand his reaction.

"I have to go to hospital!!! Immediately!!!"

"I won't let you drive in this condition!" Ragnor drove Magnus out of the driver's seat.

"He needs me !!!"

"I'll take you there!"

"What happened?" Ragnor asked as they headed for the hospital together. Magnus kept shaking. He was scared and angry. He would kill the one who did this with his bare hands.

"Cat called, Alec was attacked and brutally beaten on his way home. His injuries look like the attacker took iron pipes on him. "

"For God's sake! How is he? ”

"According to Cat, they had to resuscitate him in the ambulance. He has broken almost every bone in his body. If I find out who did this, I'll kill him! I'll kill him, Ragnor! ”

"Magnus, I know you're scared and angry. Alec needs you, how do you think it'll help him if you end up in jail for murder? After what you did for him? ”

"He could have died!“ Tears of despair ran across Magnus's cheeks. He hoped and believed that Alec would start a new life and someone wanted to take him this opportunity.

"Where is he ?!" Magnus asked Cat a question.

"He's still in the operating room. I have no news.” Ragnor led Magnus to the benches and sat him down.

"Do you want something?" He wondered.

"Alec and hope," Magnus muttered, his eyes fixed on the operating room. Where the red inscription indicated that it was still operating

"He'll be fine, Magnus. He'll get out of it. He's a warrior, everyone threw sticks at his feet when you took him with you. But he didn't give up. "

Exhausted, Magnus fell asleep on the bench. Cat shook him gently.

"What? What happened? ”Magnus looked around sleepily.

"The operation is over."

Magnus jumped to his feet.

"I have to see him."

"In a moment. He is being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. I'll come for you as soon as you can go to him. "

***

Magnus could barely hold his tears as he entered the ICU. Alec's whole body was covered with bandages and plaster. A beeps of the machines were the only sound. The only sign that Alec is alive. Magnus brought the chair to the bed and stroked Alec's black hair protruding from behind the bandage around his head.

"I am here with you. You don't have to worry about anything.” Magnus wiped away his tears. "I will not leave you. So don't leave me either, you're a warrior. I know you can do it. "

Chapter 7

Summary:

Magnus realizes how important Alec's presence was to him. And will Alec wake up at all?

Chapter Text

The apartment was quiet without Alec. Magnus got used to Alec's presence relatively easily, even though the first days were difficult for both of them. In the early days, Alec looking for a way to escape. Then they got used to each other and the enemies became roommates rather than a policeman and his prisoner. Magnus saw that Chairman Meow was walking around the apartment, peeking into the rooms and meowing loudly. He was looking for Alec. Magnus took the cat in his arms and began to scratch him.

"Alec isn't here, honey. I know you miss him, "he put the cat back on the ground. "I miss him too."

***

Magnus walked through the hospital. He looked at Cat with hope in his eyes.

"Still no change," she said, shaking her head. Magnus sat down in a chair and stroked Alec's black hair thoughtlessly. Most of the bruises were starting to disappear. Alec's face remained motionless and pale as freshly fallen snow.

"Chairman misses you. I found him stretching in your bed yesterday. The apartment is different without you. I never realized how quiet it was until you showed up. ”Magnus stroked the pale skin on Alec's cheeks. "We miss you," Magnus sighed. "I miss you!" He whispered. It was as if he was afraid that his own voice would betray him.

***

"You like him, don't you?" Cat escorted Magnus to the reception. Magnus nodded.

"I did not plan it. I didn't expect him to grow on my heart ... I ... I ... I love him, Cat. "

"Magnus," Cat hugged him.

"I do not want him to die. He can't die to me. "

"Shhh," Cat swayed in his arms. "It will be okay. He will return. He'll come back to us. ”She whispered in Magnus's ear. "He'll come back to you," she stroked his back soothingly. Magnus's boss, Luke Garroway, appeared in the hallway.

"I wanted to see how Magnus doing and tell Magnus I'm sorry."

"Alec is in a coma," Magnus replied. "I'm sorry," Luke put a hand on Magnus's shoulder. "I talked to the judge." Magnus tensed. "He said he was acquitting Alec of all charges. So when Alec wakes up, he's free. He can go anywhere he wants. No one will go after him. ”Magnus smiled gratefully. And he watched Luke leave.

"You see, you'll be able to be together without the police behind you," Cat smiled at Magnus.

***

Three months have passed since Alec's attack and still no change. "Once you recover, we'll have to go somewhere," Magnus smiled. Alec's skin was completely white after the plaster was removed. "You're going to have to catch a tan."

"So everyone can turn to him?" Cat laughed.

"He´s mine. I don´t give him to anyone," Magnus laughed.

***

Magnus stroked Alec's arm, grateful that he could finally touch Alec's velvet skin. When he felt an unexpected small movement. He blamed the fatigue and his fervent desire for Alec to wake up. The movement of his head had already attracted Magnus' attention.

"Alexander ?!" Alec frowned, trying to open his eyelids. "Slowly, you're fine. I knew you could do it. ”Alec slowly opened his eyes and closed them as light struck them. He blinked a few times to get used to the light. "Here," Magnus pressed the straw in Alec's lips. "Slow down." Alec drank and smiled. "I'll go see the doctor." Magnus rose. The touch of Alec's hand stopped him. "What's going on?" Magnus noticed Alec moving his lips as if he wants to say something. "Don't bother, you just woke up." Alec shook his head.

"Stubborn" Magnus leaned over. "What do you want to tell me?"

"R .... R..Ra ... Ra .... Raj," Alec said effortlessly.

"Raj?"

Alec nodded.

"What do you ...?" Magnus looked at Alec. "Did he do that to you?"

Alec nodded. Magnus turned on his heel and left the room.

“Magnus ?! Cat stopped him. "Alec is awake. I'm going to kill that bastard! ”

"Whom?"

"Raj. He almost killed Alec. "

"How do you know?"

"Alec told me."

"Magnus, you can't do that!" Cat stopped him.

"Why not? And he could? ”

"Alec will need you. How will you help him if you end up in jail ?! ”

Magnus pulled Cat away and left the hospital.

Chapter 8

Summary:

What will Magnus do?

Chapter Text

Magnus crashed into the station. He saw Raj having fun with their colleague. Magnus ran between them and pushed Raj against the wall.

"Why? Tell me the only reason I shouldn't do it. "

"I don't know what you're talking about," Raj said dumbly.

"Alec! Why?"

"He deserved it. He's a thief, let's not mess with people like him. "

"That didn't give you a right."

"You should have heard him call you. Like a child looking for a mother. ”This inflamed Magnus even more, knowing that Alec's family was dead and that the bastard wouldn't take them as a treat.

"The sound of cracking bones and his painful cries and pleas was heavenly music." Magnus clenched his fist and aimed it at Raj's face. Once, twice, three times. It was so satisfying.

"This is heavenly music for you too, you bastard. You could have killed him. "

"He doesn't deserve anything else."

Luke ran out of the office.

"Magnus! Magnus! Magnus! ”He pulled him away from the bloody Raj.

"He could have killed him! He could have killed him! He attacked Alec! ”Magnus tossed in Luke's arms.

"Take him away!" Luke ordered the officers and gestured toward Raj.

"Magnus," Luke sighed. "I understand your anger. But by attacking Raj, you could end up in jail with him for attacking an officer. And you wouldn't help Alec. He will need peace to heal, not stress, with the person who took him under his wings, is sitting in jail. ”

"I love him," Magnus muttered. "And that's what Cat said."

"I will pretend I have not seen anything. And you go to the hospital, Alec needs you. "

***

Alec smiled when he saw Magnus.

"Hello," he greeted him.

"Hi, how are you feeling?"

"As if a steamroller had run over me. So I wasn't even that hurt after the accident. "

"If Luke hadn't stopped me, I would have killed him." Magnus looked away. "Magnus, you didn't. You could have ended up in jail. Nobody's worth it. "

"You are," Magnus shook his head. "You're worth everything." Magnus paused. "I love you." Alec gasped, not expecting this. When his injured ribs hurt.

"Magnus," Alec breathed in surprise. Magnus stroked Alec's cheek.

"We can talk about it when you get out of the hospital. There's another thing I want to talk about. "

"About what?"

"The court acquitted you of all charges. You're free. ”The nurse entered the room, pushing the food cart with her.

"Come on, Mr. Lightwood," she helped him sit up.

"Can I?" Magnus asked.

"Sure. Ring if you need something. ”And she left.

Magnus uncovered the lid from the plate. Alec wrinkled his nose. "It certainly won't be that bad," Magnus reassured him.

"It's true that it's banquet for someone who eaten from trash cans for three years," Alec nodded. Magnus took a bite and approached it to Alec's mouth.

"Then open it." Alec obeyed and opened his mouth. "Like when we were little." Magnus gave Alec another bite.

"Magnus, stop it! I'm not five. "

Alec's return from the hospital

Chapter Text

Chairman Meow immediately began to rub Alec's leg when Alec returned from the hospital to Magnus.

"You don't happen to be the first," Magnus shook his head amusedly.

"Aren't you jealous," Alec laughed. Magnus just shook his head and didn't make comment.

***

After lunch, Alec looked at Magnus and bit his lip.

"You said at the hospital you love me."

"That's what I said," Magnus nodded. "As I walked through the apartment after your attack, I realized that something was missing or more like someone. It never occurred to me that I would take the thief under my wings and fall in love with him. But you changed my world, Alexander Lightwood. "

"As you are changed mine, Magnus Bane," Alec replied. "You showed me there are cops who don't abuse their power. Thank you for giving me a chance.“ Magnus moved from the chair next to Alec, took him by the chin, and kissed him.

"You do not have to thank me. It will be enough if you stay. "

"I'll stay," Alec returned the kiss. "I love you too."

***

Alec and Magnus enjoyed a free Sunday afternoon. Magnus sat on the couch and read, Alec lying on the couch with his head in Magnus´ lap. Magnus played thoughtlessly with his hair. After a moment, Alec spoke.

"Magnus, I have a request." Magnus looked up from the book and looked at Alec.

"What's the matter, angel?"

"I'd like to go to the cemetery. I haven't been there since their deaths. "

"You don't have to explain anything to me," Magnus assured him.

***

Alec and Magnus entered the cemetery on their side. When they reached the tombstone with the Lightwood family, Magnus stepped back, leaving Alec room.

"I miss you so much," Alec began. "I was in the wrong place, but thanks to one cop, it's better. It'll be better, I promise. I love you very much, "Alec said. "I miss you. I wish things were different, but sometimes fate kicks you in the ass. "

Magnus approached Alec and wrapped his arms around him. Alec took his hand gratefully.

"I'll take care of him. I promise you, ”Magnus turned to the tombstone. Alec clung to him and they left the cemetery area together.
