Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
Obi-Wan sat on the cold floor of his fresher, hands gripping his hair sporadically. His heart was racing, and his thoughts were tangled. He didn’t even try to release his emotions into the force, he knew they were too scattered, too unfocused for that to actually be of any benefit.
How could this have happened. OK so he knew how it had happened.
His mind drifted back to that night all those weeks ago. He had been out with his men celebrating the end of the war and the defeat of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. Destroyed by Anakin. Obi-wan couldn’t have been prouder. After everything had settled down and Obi-Wan had assured himself of Anakin’s wellbeing he had taken his padawan to Naboo to be with Padme while he recovered. After years of war and death, fighting and anxiety it was over. Of course, there was still a lot of work to be done, but the worst of it was behind them. They had all been equally surprised and exultant when less then a week after fighting had ceased the senate had sent out a mandate that all clones were to be viewed as free men, with the same rights and responsibilities. Six months from now they would have the right to choose whether they wanted to stay in the army or leave to pursue their own interests.
Obi-Wan had been so happy he had cheered as loud as any of his men, shedding his Jedi persona in the wake of such wonderful news. Even as he smiled his heart ached at the thought of some of his men leaving him.
Obi-Wan in his infinite wisdom gave his men some much needed leave, they had more then earnt it. Which is how he’d found himself in a lively Naboo bar, drinking with a group of his closest men. He had only had a few drinks but that with the combination of the giddy relief of the war being over and the idea that some of his men may soon be leaving him made him much more affectionate then usual. He had held their hands, touched their faces, leaned into their sides and wrapped his arms around them, a bright smile on his face. All the while letting them do the same to him.
It had felt wonderful to have Waxer hold his hand so fiercely, like he never wanted to let him go. To feel so safe as Cody wrapped his arm around Obi-Wans shoulders and pulled him close. To have Boil run his fingers through his hair lovingly. To have Echo trace his lips and cheek bones so gently as Rex rubbed soothing circles into his thigh. Obi-Wan hadn’t discouraged the affection, in fact he had openly encouraged it. Well, one thing had led to another, and his troopers had taken him to bed. Taking it in turns to completely ravish him until he was delirious with pleasure. Something that he’d only dared to think about on dark, lonely nights when no end to the war seemed in sight.
It had been one of the best nights of his life, until he had awoken in the morning to find himself alone in the room they had rented. His heart had pounded in his chest, a cold sweat breaking out all over him as he’d stirred from a sound sleep, only to find that he wasn’t wrapped up safe and secure in Cody’s arms, as he had been when he’d fallen asleep. The room was deserted, the bed around him cold, as though no one had slept there.
He had had to bite his lip harshly to keep the tears at bay. He had finally opened himself up to attachment, to affection and look where it had gotten him. Obi-Wan pulled on his clothes quickly and tried to make himself presentable, doing his best to ignore his limp as he walked back to their ship. And there they all were, eating breakfast in the mess hall. They had smiled and waved like normal, acting like the night before had never happened, so Obi-Wan had swallowed his hurt, pasted on a brittle smile and gone along with it.
It had taken hours, days of meditation to try to centre himself but it never quite stuck. He smiled and laughed with his men, but his heart just wasn’t in it. He tried to hide it from his troops, he didn’t know how effective he was. One of the main problems was his biology. He is Stewjoni. His whole race was highly sort after by slavers as pleasure slaves. Stewjoni are a very affectionate people, that craved love and attention and, well, yes, sex as well. He had been able to manage these needs quite well for most of his life, what with his Jedi training and fighting in a war, but something had been unlocked that night and it wouldn’t easily go back into the box.
So that leads him up to now, wallowing in self pity as he tried to even out his breathing as a medical droid hovered nearby.
“Are you quite sure?” Obi-Wan asked quietly.
“Yes, sir. You are pregnant, around seven weeks I would say.”
It wasn’t any easier hearing it the second time. He scrubbed his hands over his face, weariness settling into his bones.
“What about my contraception chip?”
“It seems to have failed; I can find no cause for it though.”
Obi-Wan let out a small groan, of course it had failed. That was just his luck.
“Right. Ok. Thank you.” Was all Obi-Wan managed to get out as he ushered the droid from his room, he needed to be alone, to meditate.
“Sir, you will need to see a healer.”
“I’ll get right onto that” Obi-Wan said as his door closed on the droid.
Pregnant, he was pregnant to one of his men.
Through the haze of shock and fear a small kernel of excitement began to take route. He ran his hand over his still flat stomach, a baby. His baby. His body was made for this, his mind quickly getting used to the idea. He would have to tell the council, possibly leave the order or at least leave his current post. The thought didn’t scare him as much as it once would have. He wouldn’t tell them just yet though, he wanted these last few months on his ship, with his men before everything changed.
The real question was whether he should tell the potential fathers. Logically he knew that he should, but logic wasn’t front of mind when he remembered how they had all left him afterwards. How it had felt to wake up alone. No doubt they would all be there for him, offer to assist him in any way they could, but he would know that their hearts weren’t in it. That it was done more out of a sense of duty then anything else. He couldn’t take away their choice not when they were finally on the cusp of being able to decide their own lives for themselves.
No, he wouldn’t tell them. At least not yet. Perhaps later, when he was settled.
His organised mind was already making plans.
First, he would need to make an appointment with a healer. He couldn’t use Helix, even though he trusted him completely there was still the chance that something could get out. Worse if Cody, Rex or anyone else had mentioned what they had gotten up to, it wouldn’t take much for Helix to work out just who the potential fathers were.
No, he would need to wait until he returned to the temple and could see Che, she was the only one he would trust with this. In the meantime, he could research and download any necessary information onto his data pad. Ensuring that he was doing all that he could for his unborn child.
He stroked his beard thoughtfully. He would need to stay away from any potential fighting, though that would be significantly easier now than a month ago. His stomach twisted painfully, he hated sending his men out without him, but in this case, there was little he could do. No doubt they would all be overjoyed that he was finally taking his own safety into consideration. He rolled his eyes fondly, remembering all their mother henning throughout the war.
With a rough plan in mind, he retired to his mat to meditate and process his emotions on this new development.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
He spent every spare moment over the next week reading everything he could about pregnancy, especially in Stewjoni males. Outwardly he was the perfect picture of a calm and collected Jedi General, kind eyes and a warm smile for any he spoke to. He kept his shields strong not letting any emotion bar calm professionalism escape. But inside, his mind was reeling from everything he was learning. He realised just how much his knowledge in this area was lacking, though he couldn’t really be blamed for that seeing as how he never actually thought he would be pregnant. It was also harder for him to focus on his day-to-day tasks as he constantly battled an undercurrent of nausea that was steadily getting worse. He had started taking better care of himself, eating three light meals a day and instead of working until late, he turned in early sleeping solidly every night. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten so much sleep.
“Turning in?” Cody asked, a slight frown marring his face.
Obi-Wan startled, he hadn’t realised anyone had been paying attention to him, thinking they were more focused on their own meals.
A few of the other clones looked around, listening to what their General had to say.
“Yes, I am” Obi-Wan said nonchalantly, depositing his half-eaten tray of food in the waste bin and turning toward the door.
“You’ve been sleeping a lot more lately.”
“Is that a problem?” Obi-Wan asked with a raised brow.
“No, not at all. Its good actually. Just… unusual” Rex put in from beside Cody.
Obi-Wan just shrugged, trying to ignore the way his heart ached as he looked at these two incredible men.
“Seems my body is wanting to make up for all the sleep it missed out on during the war” Obi-Wan said jokingly, continuing his walk to the door. “Good night.”
“Night, General” was murmured several times before the door shut behind him and blocked out all noise.
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He made his way back to his rooms where he could enjoy a cup of tea to help settle his stomach before turning in.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Waxer pushed the food around his plate morosely as they watched Obi-Wan leave for his quarters.
“I miss him” he admitted glumly.
Boil wrapped his arm around his vod in commiseration.
“He’s been… different lately.”
Cody nodded. “I doubt that has anything to do with our, ah night with him and more to do with the end of the war.”
Waxer shrugged.
“He may still be unhappy with us after what happened” Rex said quietly. “After all he had been drinking that night. At the time I didn’t think it was much and he was very enthusiastic about reciprocating our actions, but maybe he feels that we took advantage of him.”
“Or that he took advantage of us, seeing as how he is technically our commanding officer.”
This wasn’t a new idea, the five of them had talked about it extensively and either option felt like a knife to the heart. But Waxer was right, Obi-Wan had seemed different lately. He was a hard man to read, an expert at shielding himself and any emotion that he was feeling but there was something going on with the man.
“Do you think we did the right thing leaving him that night?” Echo asked, his face troubled. The other four shifted uncomfortably. This was something else that had been discussed extensively. At the time it had felt like the right thing to do. Obi-Wan was a very reserved man and they felt he may be overwhelmed waking up to five lovesick men draped all over him, so they had decided to head back to the ship. But since then, they had second guessed that decision. Especially since Obi-Wan had never brought it up again.
Cody’s face turned wistful, “he is so beautiful. Can you imagine how sweet he would look in the morning all sleep rumpled and sexed out.”
Rex let out a small groan.
“Let’s keep an eye on our General, yeah?” Boil said.
Echo started chuckling, “you mean more then we usually do?”
Boil started laughing as well, “yep.”
Cody just rolled his eyes.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Obi-Wan woke to a wave of nausea stronger than anything he had felt thus far. He pushed himself out of bed and ran to the fresher making it just in time to empty his roiling stomach. Its times like this that he was eternally grateful to have his own private quarters.
He groaned quietly, gingerly wiping the sweat from his brow as his stomach rolled again, trying desperately not to think of how wonderful it would feel if there was someone with him to comfort him. Maybe hold his hand or rub his back or wipe the sweat from his face. He ruthlessly pushed the thoughts aside; he didn’t need anyone. He wasn’t sure how long he sat there but when he finally felt well enough to move his leg had fallen asleep from how awkwardly he had been sitting. This did nothing to help his unsteady gait as he washed out his mouth and scrubbed his teeth. He splashed some water on his face before making his way back into his rooms and changing for the day.
Even though he was running slightly behind schedule, Obi-Wan took the time to make, sit and enjoy a cup of tea. His favourite blend settled his stomach like nothing else. He knew it was going to be a rough day and any form of comfort was needed to get him through. He took a few deep breaths before finally exiting his room, nearly colliding with Cody as he did so.
“Cody?” Obi-Wan asked in confusion, fighting the urge to reach out and touch the handsome commander. “What are you doing here?”
“Was just looking for you Sir. You’re later then usual, I just thought I’d check and make sure everything was OK.”
“I assure you everything is perfectly fine” Obi-Wan responded as he started to walk.
Cody looked at him, as though waiting for an explanation for his tardiness, when none was forthcoming, he let it go.
“Breakfast?” Cody asked, having noted Obi-Wan eating breakfast most mornings lately.
“Ah, better not. I’m already running late” Obi-Wan muttered, not meeting Cody’s eye.
Cody frowned, but didn’t argue, letting Obi-Wan lead the way.
Unfortunately, the nausea didn’t abate for the entirety of the day. Morning sickness my ass he thought gloomily to himself as he shifted restlessly in his seat. He pulled another map toward him, looking it over and thinking about their next plan of attack. Though the war was over there were still some smaller battles going on from renegade separatists who didn’t want to fold. Mainly they were doing a lot of peace keeping work.
He took another sip of his water and tried to ignore the looks Cody and Rex were giving him. Thankfully before either of them could comment on his uncharacteristic restlessness his com went off and distracted them. Ob-Wan flipped it open and found the face of healer Che staring back at him. It took all of Obi-Wan’s control not to groan at the terrible timing.
“Obi-Wan, you called?” Che’s voice crackled through the com.
Obi-Wan rose gracefully from his chair and exited the room, trying his best not to look like he was running away. His private quarters were too far away but he managed to find an empty room.
“Yes, yes. I just wanted to organise to see you next time I’m scheduled back at the temple” Obi-Wan said, trying to be as nonchalant as possible.
Healer Che’s eyes widened in surprise, and he couldn’t really blame her shock. It was usually notoriously hard to get him to visit any kind of medbay even when he was injured.
“Are you injured? Sick?” She asked sharply.
He thought about how awful he’d been feeling today but knew that wasn’t what she meant.
“No” he shook his head. “I would rather talk to you about it in person, if you don’t mind?”
She nodded slowly. “As long as you’re sure you aren’t in any immediate danger?”
He shook his head resolutely.
“Fine. You are due back on Coruscant in two weeks’ time. I will ensure I make time to see you.”
Obi-Wan thought for a moment, he would be around 13 weeks then, that should be fine.
“Thank you” he said, trying for his usual charming manner but failing miserably.
“Goodbye, Obi-Wan. Take care of yourself” she said seriously and Obi-Wan could do nothing but nod, touched by her concern.
After he’d hung up, he slowly made his way back to the planning room he’d been in, coming face to face with Rex and Cody’s concerned stares.
“Everything OK?” Rex asked.
“Everything is wonderful” Obi-Wan said sincerely, for even if he wasn’t quite sure how everything was going to turn out and he felt like bantha dung, things were wonderful. He changed the topic before anything else could be said, Cody and Rex shared a look but followed his lead.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Obi-Wan wandered through the hall’s hours later, exhaustion dogging his steps. They had set their course and would be arriving at Niyx in three days. It was a small planet, but they had received intel that a group of separatists were hiding out there. Much of the days meeting had been about how to best approach the separatist’s position.
He was tempted to skip dinner but knew it wasn’t a good idea. He had missed breakfast and lunch and his nausea had finally eased somewhat so he needed to make the most of the fact he was feeling well enough to eat.
He got his food and slipped into a place next to Fives, giving the man a smile as he was greeted.
“Long day, General?” he asked, eyeing Obi-Wan’s waxy pallor.
“You could say that” Obi-Wan replied with a light chuckle.
“How about a spar tomorrow morning? That always makes you feel better.”
Only someone very familiar with Obi-Wan would have noticed the slight way he hesitated at the invitation.
“I’m sorry Fives but tomorrow is shaping up to be as busy as today was, another time perhaps?”
Fives looked disappointed for a moment before shaking it off.
“Of course.”
Obi-Wan picked at his food, eating as much as he could as he chatted with all the men sitting around them. However, it didn’t take long before he was excusing himself to bed. His conversation with Fives replaying in his mind. He wouldn’t be doing any more sparing but that didn’t mean he didn’t need to do some form of exercise. He’d been completely neglecting his katas since he’d found out he was pregnant, and he swore to do his best to make time to do at least one a day.
Starting tomorrow, he thought as he fell into bed that night.

Chapter Text
The very next morning Obi-Wan dragged himself out of bed, ignoring the urge to sleep in just a bit longer and started on his most basic kata. Letting the repetitive motions calm his mind and body. It felt good to be doing this again. Nausea lingered but he was able to push it to the side while his mind focused. He hadn’t realised how much he had missed this until now.
After 30 minutes sweat lined his brow, and his muscles shook from fatigue, but he felt better than he had in weeks. A long hot shower returned most of his strength and a nice cup of tea helped to calm his stomach somewhat. It was a good way to start the day.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“We’ll need to bring the men and come in hard and fast… here” Cody said, pointing to a point on the map.
“Yes, we won’t have much of an element of surprise, so we will need to come in strong and overwhelm them before they can put up much resistance” Rex agreed.
Obi-Wan nodded in agreement as he listened to his two commanders make plans for their latest mission.
“I’ll take right flank, you take left Rex, and the General can come up the middle.”
Obi-Wan cleared his throat awkwardly, gaining both men’s attention immediately.
“Actually, I won’t be coming with you on this mission” Obi-Wan said firmly, though his insides writhed with guilt. He didn’t want his men to think he’d abandoned them.
Cody’s eyebrows raised in surprise. Obi-Wan had never not come on a mission with them, unless he was grievously wounded. Sometimes, even then he came along, ignoring all healers’ orders.
“You aren’t coming on this mission?” Rex asked slowly, obviously struggling to make sense of the words.
“No, no” Obi-Wan said lightly. “I think you have this one handled without me. I will stay aboard the ship. You may choose who you feel will be best to lead the centre, in my- my absence.”
Obi-Wan ran his hand through his hair nervously as he glanced away.
Rex and Cody shared a look.
“Of course,” Cody conceded. “Waxer will do well, I’m sure.”
Obi-Wan nodded in agreement. “Alright, dear ones, I need to go and comm Anakin and see how he’s doing.” Obi-Wan had been walking toward the door as he spoke but froze as he registered his own words.
A panicked look flashed over the normally composed man’s face, before he turned and practically fled the room.
Cody let out a low groan as he sunk back into his chair.
“What was all that about?”
“No idea” said Rex, looking dazed. “He called us dear one again. He hasn’t done that since our night together.”
“He hasn’t” agreed Cody softly.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“So, how was Anakin?” Cody asked casually that evening at dinner. He had made sure to get a seat at Obi-Wan’s table. A hard feat to accomplish most days as Obi-Wan was so popular that everyone always wanted to sit with him.
“He is doing well” Obi-Wan said with a smile. “Healing well and enjoying the attentions of Padme.”
“I bet he is” Fives joked with a waggle of his eyebrows.
Obi-Wan chuckled. “Quite. He is very lucky to have found someone he cares so deeply about and who cares so deeply about him. The two of them together are nearly nauseatingly sweet.” Obi-Wan’s expression turned nearly wistful before he cleared his throat and continued eating.
“I thought Jedi were prohibited from attachment” Helix asked thoughtfully.
Obi-Wan made a non-committal noise, very much not thinking about his night with five of the men sitting around him. “After everything, I would be truly surprised if Anakin stays with the order.”
That got raised brows and looks of shock all round.
“Jedi can just leave the order if they want?” Waxer asked in surprise. He guessed he had known that but for some reason he didn’t think it was actually a done thing.
Obi-Wan raised his own brow sardonically. “Of course, the order is not a prison. Jedi are free to leave if they wish. It’s just that most don’t choose that path.”
Waxer hummed thoughtfully at that but didn’t comment further.
Obi-Wan lapsed into thoughtful silence, thinking about how he would soon be leaving the order as well. Perhaps he should talk to Anakin about possibly settling on Naboo. It would be nice to be near the other, as long as Anakin didn’t object of course.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Obi-Wan paced restlessly through the ship, the few men that were left moved out of his way as he turned sharply and walked back the way he had just come. The majority of his crew had left hours ago, and it had felt so… wrong to not go with them. What if something happened, what if someone got hurt because he wasn’t there to help? The thought made him sick and with his current levels of weariness and nausea it wasn’t a good combination. He turned down a new corridor and felt his whole world start to spin. He stumbled, trying to brace himself on a wall as the edges of his vision started to dim. Oh, this wasn’t good. Distantly he thought he heard someone calling his name, but he couldn’t gather himself enough to respond. All he could do was stick out his hands to brace himself as he fell forward, protecting his stomach, as his thoughts became hazy, and his vision went dark.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
When Obi-Wan next awoke it took him a moment to realise just where he was. The smell was the first clue, the strong scent of bacta hit him causing his stomach to roil and he leaned over the side of the bed quickly, vomiting everywhere. His stomach heaved again as he expelled everything that was left. His throat burned, the acrid taste filling his mouth only made him feel worse.
He felt strong hands rubbing his back, pushing his hair out of his face, wiping over his neck with something cool. When he felt well enough, he shakily pushed himself back up onto his bed, blinking a few times to focus. He was obviously in the med bay and around his bed stood Echo, Waxer, Boil and Rex. Waxer was wiping his face with a damp cloth and Echo brought a cup of water to his mouth so he could rinse away the taste of vomit. He wiped the spittle from his chin before collapsing back against his pillow.
“S-sorry” Obi-Wan said miserably.
“Hey, no, none of that” Rex said gently. “You’re sick, you can’t help it.”
A soothing hand cupped his cheek and Obi-Wan did his best not to lean into the touch. How often had he imagined one of these amazing men looking after him, comforting him during everything that had been happening over the last few months.
“Out of the way” A voice said gruffly, elbowing Waxer and Rex further down the bed. Helix, and behind him Cody. Obviously, his commander had run for the healer when he’d woken up. A bot followed behind, getting straight to work cleaning up the mess Obi-Wan had made. He flushed in embarrassment; oh why did he have to get sick now?
Helix started poking and prodding at him, shining a light in his eyes and making him open his mouth wide.
“I haven’t been able to find anything in particular that’s wrong with you” Helix said tersely. “I think perhaps stress and exhaustion. It was a good thing you didn’t go on that mission today.”
Obi-Wan just nodded trying to look as innocent as possible.
“You obviously aren’t taking care of yourself” the healer continued crossly and Obi-Wan had to hold in a snort, he’d never taken such good care of himself in his life.
“I will be keeping a close eye on you” Helix said seriously and Obi-Wan swallowed nervously. The last thing he needed was a healer paying particular attention to him over the next few months.
“That won’t be necessary, I assure you” Obi-Wan said in the cool collected manner he always adopted when trying to reason with someone.
Helix completely ignored him, turning to the men surrounding his bed. “Who here can assist the General in returning to his room’s for the evening?”
Obi-Wan spluttered, caught between complaining that he didn’t need help, but not wanting to risk having to spend the night in med bay.
“I can.”
“I will.”
“Me, me!”
“I’m free.”
“I’m more than happy to assist.”
Five voices echoed through the room all trying to talk at once as Helix looked at them bemusedly.
“Just make sure he actually gets back to his rooms and rests” the healer said with a stern look before departing.
Once Helix was out of ear shot, Obi-Wan decided to try his luck again.
“I assure you, I am quite alright” he began. “There is no reason you should waste your time returning me to my rooms.”
Cody let out an exasperated noise while everyone else just rolled their eyes in bemused fondness.
“Sorry sir, we’re under strict orders.”
Obi-Wan let out a weary sigh, he was too tired to argue. Worry still gnawed at him, though this time it was for his baby, not his men. He hoped the stress and the fainting episode hadn’t harmed them in any way. He subconsciously ran his hand over his still flat stomach, lost in thought about his little one. He’d be glad to return to the temple so that healer Che could check them both out properly.
“Come on, Obi-Wan” Rex said gently, as he helped Obi-Wan sit up.
The room spun ominously as he stood, and Rex wrapped a reassuring arm around his waist while Echo took his hand. Obi-Wan squeeze it reassuringly and shot the other man a soft smile.
He flushed as he was led through the halls, Cody walked in front, Rex and Echo on either side of him while Waxer and Boil trailed behind them. People moved out of their way as they walked, watching the procession closely, some smirking as they passed. Obi-Wan kept his head held high, ignoring it all. He couldn’t deny he was grateful for the help even if it did garner him unwanted attention.
They made it to his rooms without incident, Waxer and Boil set about making tea while Cody turned down his bed and Rex and Echo helped him change.
Obi-Wan blushed brightly as Echo started undoing his outer tunic, pushing it off his shoulders gently before laying it neatly over a chair.
“I assure you I am quite capable of changing myself” Obi-Wan croaked.
“Better not risk it” Rex said seriously as he knelt down and pulled off Obi-Wan’s boots.
Cody watched bemusedly as Obi-Wan was stripped down to his under garments. Breath catching as all that bare skin was revealed to him. He glanced to the door and found Waxer and Boil leaning against the frame, watching the proceedings intensely. A cup of tea clasped in Waxer’s hand.
Cody walked forward, rummaging in drawers until he pulled out a soft shirt.
Obi-Wan couldn’t look Cody in the face as the larger man stepped forward, a sleep shirt in hand. He wrung his hands self-consciously; he knew he didn’t look the same as he had a few months ago when they had been together. He was softer due to his lack of exercise the last few months. And even though his bump hadn’t started showing, his middle was thicker, his well-defined stomach had gentled. He didn’t want to see whatever look was passing over Cody’s face as he stood in front of him. Hated just how much he loved having them all here with him, taking care of him.
The shirt was pulled over his head and he pushed his arms out, letting it settle over him comfortably.
“Into bed” Rex said gently, taking Obi-Wan’s elbow and guiding him to the bed.
Obi-Wan went willingly, crawling into the soft sheets as Rex pulled the blankets up. Waxer and Boil entered the room as well and Obi-Wan couldn’t keep the fond smile off his face as he looked around at them all.
“For you” Waxer said as he handed over the warm tea. Obi-Wan let out a happy hum as he took a sip. The taste of his favourite blend making him smiled warmly at Waxer and Boil.
“I’m glad you’re OK” Obi-Wan said softly.
Cody sat on the bed beside him, taking Obi-Wan’s free hand in his own.
“We were fine, you shouldn’t worry so much about us.”
“I can’t help it” Obi-Wan said with a helpless shrug, causing Cody to smile.
“Well, I think next time if you aren’t joining us on a mission, we’ll leave someone here to make sure you’re safe.”
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes. “You will do no such thing.”
“We’ll see” Rex said with a smirk.
“Sleep now” Cody said running a hand gently through Obi-Wan’s fiery locks and taking away his mostly finished tea.
Obi-Wan couldn’t resist the command, the weariness of the day catching up to him.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Cody sat holding Obi-Wan’s hand until he was sure his General had fallen asleep. He brought the smaller hand to his lips, kissing it gently before rising. He nodded toward the door, and everyone trooped out, closing the door silently behind them.
They settled in Obi-Wan’s small sitting room, sprawling out and getting comphy as the weariness of the day caught up with them. It hadn’t been a terribly difficult mission but still it had been draining. The most stressful part had been arriving back at the ship and finding Obi-Wan in med bay after he had collapsed in the halls.
The five of them had barrelled their way through the ship, knocking people out of the way until they were by his side.
“Helix just thinks its stress and exhaustion, but I think there’s something else going on” Waxer said thoughtfully.
Waxer nodded and Echo murmured, “agreed.”
“He received a call from healer Che while we were in a planning meeting the other day” Rex explained. “He left the room to take the call, but it seems odd that he would be calling a healer when we have Helix on the ship. So, I think it must be something serious that he doesn’t want Helix to know about yet.”
Everyone looked grim at that theory.
“When are we due back at Coruscant?” Boil asked.
“A little over a week” Cody said. “I think we should do our best to take care of him until then, hopefully once he sees Healer Che, he will share with us just what is going on.”
They all nodded determinedly at that, there was nothing they wouldn’t do for Obi-Wan.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
When Obi-Wan left his bedroom the next morning, he was greeted to the sight of five men scattered haphazardly around his sitting room. They were sleeping on the couch, an armchair as well as the floor. It looked terribly uncomfortably. He cleared his throat loudly. All five men alert in moments, trained to sleep lightly after years of war.
They looked around for the source of the danger, and only spotting Obi-Wan, relaxed.
“Obi-Wan” Cody breathed, rushing forward and taking the older man’s face into his hands. “Should you be up and about?”
Obi-Wan looked non-plussed at the attention.
“Of course, I feel fine this morning” Obi-Wan said in confusion. Just why had they slept in his rooms last night?
Rex was already ushering him back to bed.
“I think another day of rest will do you good” Rex said seriously, gently pushing Obi-Wan back into bed and ignoring the indignant spluttering coming from the red head. Rex kept a firm hand on Obi-Wan’s shoulder once he was settled, ensuring the man couldn’t rise again.
“What are you all doing here still?” Obi-Wan asked in complete bewilderment. “I thought you would have left last night.”
Cody frowned deeply at that. “You are not the only one who worries” the commander said gently. “Now, stay in that bed, we will go and get you breakfast.”
Obi-Wan looked so shocked at that announcement that three of them were able to leave and get breakfast without any fuss.
“This really isn’t necessary” Obi-Wan said, smoothing his blanket down nervously.
Rex let out a very put-upon sigh. “Please, just let us take care of you.”
And what could Obi-Wan say to that.
Chapter 3: Chapter 3
Notes:
Third and final chapter is here! I hope you all enjoy it. I’ve been sick so it took a lot of effort, but I think it turned out ok 😊
Chapter Text
Obi-wan let out a sigh of relief as their ship touched down in Coruscant. The last week had been… different to say the least. After his fainting spelling, he had been practically swaddled in a soft blanket and tucked into bed for the week. He had been forced to try to sneak away from his men to try and get his work done, but it seemed wherever he went at least one found him. They brought him cups of tea and made sure that he ate regularly, they walked him back to his rooms at night and met him outside his door in the morning. It was difficult trying to keep how sick he was feeling secret, when he was never alone. They knew something was going on but Obi-Wan just hoped that they hadn’t worked out just what it was yet. He at least wanted to speak to Healer Che before telling anyone anything. It was not easy for him, having these amazing men, that he was head over heels for, doting on him constantly. It made his heart ache, but still nothing more was said of their night together and Obi-Wan assumed it was simply out of loyalty to him that they were taking care of him.
But finally… finally they were back in Coruscant, and he was on his way to see Healer Che.
He had managed to shake the five of them, by stating explicitly that he was seeing the healer over a personal matter and under no circumstances would they be allowed in. Cody had tried to push but Obi-Wan had threatened them with Healer Che and even they knew that it wasn’t a good idea to invoke the healer’s anger. He had called ahead when they had landed, and he was expected in medical. Luckily Healer Che was one of his closest friends and had made time to see him without any thought to how busy she already was.
He was led to a private room buy a healer he wasn’t familiar with.
“Healer Che will be along shortly.”
Obi-Wan nodded as he took a seat on the bed. His heart was beating fast, and his hands shook a little with nerves. He took a deep breath to centre himself, trying to focus on the room instead. Though, that wasn’t much of a distraction as the room was very basic with little more then a bed sitting against the wall.
There was a soft knock and then the door was pushed open, he looked up to find Healer Che smiling at him and he couldn’t stop a smile of his own breaking out on his face as she enveloped him in a warm hug.
“Obi-Wan, it is so good to see you” she said warmly, pulling back a little so she could get a proper look at the other Jedi. “But why did you need to see me?”
Obi-Was swallowed thickly, gathering his courage before speaking, “I think I’m pregnant.”
Healer Che’s eyes widened in surprise. “You think?” she asked, automatically moving into healer mode.
“A medical droid on my ship diagnosed me. I guess I just wanted it to be confirmed and a check up to make sure everything is OK.”
Healer Che hummed thoughtfully, I will go get everything that I need, please removed your tunic and lay back on the bed for me.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Over an hour later Obi-Wan wandered through the halls of the temple in a complete daze.
Vokara had run every test she could, first confirming Obi-Wan’s pregnancy and that he was healthy, though a little dehydrated and lacking in several key vitamins. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a change in diet and a few pills if necessary.
The big shock had been when she had done a scan of his abdomen. Wanting to check on the baby and confirm the due date.
She had been silent for so long after she started the scan, that Obi-Wan had begun to fret that something was wrong. Sensing his distress, the healer jedi had given herself a shake and focused back on Obi-Wan, a soft smile on her face.
“Everything is OK, Obi-Wan, I was just taken by surprise.”
“Why? Is something wrong?”
“No, not at all. Its actually wonderful news.” She hesitated for a moment before continuing. “You are expecting twins.”
“Twins!” he’d croaked before collapsing in a dead faint.
Obi-Wan had been surprised to say the least but now that he had had a little time to think about it, he was mostly just happy. In fact, a part of him was practically crying out with joy at the idea of two little ones in his arms. He would never be alone again. Twins and triplets were not an unusual sight in Stewjon, but for some reason the idea that he could be carrying more then one baby hadn’t occurred to him. He wondered if they would have the same father or different fathers, his face flushing hotly at the mere thought that his children could have different fathers due to the fact he had been with five men in one evening.
Thankfully both babies had been healthy and happy and Obi-Wan had even been given a small printout of an image of his children, he had it tucked safely into his pocket.
Vokara had explained that Stewjoni male’s pregnancies usually only lasted for eight months, which he already knew from extensive reading. She also explained how difficult they could be towards the end; he would need to be doing little more than resting in the last few months. He knew she was alluding to the fact that he would have to inform the council and retire from active duty by that time for his and his children’ wellbeing. He was grateful that she asked no questions about the baby’s father.
She had informed him that he would need to inform his chief medic. He would need more regular care then the few times he would be returning to the temple. Obi-Wan had reluctantly agreed.
It was comforting in a way to have a timeline; it gave him a little under three months before he would need to leave. He would need to inform the council soon and start making plans for his future life. A life that would not include him being a jedi. The thought made his chest ache but there was none of the panic that he would’ve thought would accompany the idea of leaving the jedi. This was one of the few things that he would deem worth leaving the jedi for. At only three months pregnant his children already meant so much to him, they deserved nothing less than his best.
He wandered back to his room in the temple, finding comfort in the familiarity.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Obi-Wan walked around in a cloud of happiness for most of the next day. His hand kept going up to gently rub his stomach without conscious thought, he’d quickly move it away every time he realised he was doing it, but he knew he would have to be more careful when he returned to his ship in the morning.
He entered the council chambers, a feeling that was very similar to nostalgia washing over him. Now that he knew that his days as a jedi were numbered he felt nearly whimsical, he shook his head at his own foolishness.
“You wished to see us?” Mace asked curiously.
Obi-Wan blinked around at the assembled council, taking in the familiar faces, some who were like family, others not so much.
“I did” he took a deep breath “I wish to announce that I will be leaving the order.”
Cries of shock rippled through the council.
“What?” Mace hissed.
“Why would you leave?” Plo Koon asked.
“I – I recently discovered that I am expecting” Obi-Wan said a blush lighting his whole face. “I am still sorting out the details, but I know that I can’t continue as I am currently.”
If it was possible, everyone looked more shocked at the news he was pregnant then when he had said he was leaving the order.
Mace Windu raised an eyebrow at him, eyes calculating.
“Who is the father?”
Obi-Wan sputtered, before trying to collect himself. “I do not wish to divulge that information at present. Though it is nearly assured that they will not be involved.”
“They have impregnated you and will not take responsibility of you or your young!” someone shouted, a fist hitting the table in anger.
“I do not need anyone to take responsibility of me” Obi-Wan said indignantly even as his heart throbbed, and he wished that his wonderful men would. “I am perfectly capable of doing this on my own.”
“Leave us, you must” Yoda said calmly. “Much to discuss, we have.”
Obi-Wan looked around the council unsurely, before nodding. “I’m sure I don’t need to say this, but I wish this to stay between us for now.”
Everyone nodded, even Mace who looked like he was chewing on a lemon.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Echo paced restlessly through the barracks, “where is he?” he asked for the hundredth time.
Cody gave an aggravated sigh. “How would we know” he growled.
“He’s usually back by now” Echo said quietly, and Cody softened a little, they were all worried.
“He’ll be back soon” Waxer reassured him, “he’s never been late before.”
Less then a minute after the words were spoken a siren sounded, alerting everyone that their General was on board, and they should prepare for take-off.
All five of them rushed from the room, elbows swinging as each wanted to be the first to greet Obi-Wan. They had been expecting to find a pensieve, perhaps sad Obi-Wan, after his visit with healer Che. What they got instead was an Obi-Wan who was nearly radiant with happiness. The jedi practically glowed and every eye was drawn to him. Rex felt his breath catch in his throat, if he hadn’t been receiving bad news about his health then what had Obi-Wan been doing!?
The red head smiled warmly at their approach.
“Ready for another mission?” he asked with a smile and Cody could do nothing but nod dumbly, eyes raking over Obi-Wan’s entire being. He felt annoyance pulse through him as he realised that he was not the only one doing so. Though he couldn’t begrudge his vod, Obi-Wan was truly something else.
“We are off to a few planets on the outer rim and then on to Alderaan, Bail Organa needs our assistance with routing out a group of seppies that he believes are on the planet.”
Cody nodded in understanding, brain not functioning enough to form words.
“Wonderful” Obi-Wan said with a smile, turning back to Trapper who was standing beside him.
Cody and Waxer shared a look, just what was going on here?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The happy glow that seemed to surround Obi-Wan didn’t abate over the next few weeks, if anything it only got stronger. Troopers would stop and stare as Obi-Wan walked by, caught up in his beauty and his happiness. His happiness seemed to infect everyone, a joyful mood settling over the ship. Rex didn’t think he’d ever seen his vod so relaxed and happy. It warmed him to his core.
Obi-Wan knew that he was acting different, but he just couldn’t help himself, the force radiating his happiness to all and sundry. He didn’t have to worry about making excuses about why he couldn’t go with his men on some of the more dangerous outer rim planets. Ever since he had stayed behind that one-time Cody had taken that as an invitation to keep Obi-Wan on board whenever the Commander thought things might be risky. Normally he would have fought tooth and nail at such edicts, but right now they suited him perfectly. He could tell Cody was suspicious, but thankfully he didn’t question Obi-Wan’s sudden change of heart. Cody always made sure to leave someone behind with him though, so there was no repeat of Obi-Wan’s collapse like the first time. Usually it was Waxer or Boil, who would spend their time making Obi-Wan tea and reading to him, to keep him calm and relaxed while the others were in danger. It worked surprisingly well.
As he got used to his new norm and as his stomach started to swell at an alarming rate, Obi-Wan decided it was time to start planning for his future, and that meant a call to Anakin.
The comm buzzed several times before there was a beep and Anakin’s smiling face came into view. He looked much healthier and happier than the last time they had spoken, Obi-Wan couldn’t help but notice.
“Obi-Wan” Anakin said with a smile.
“Hello, dear one. You are looking well.”
“I’m feeling much better. Padme has had the best healers looking after me and she has allowed me to do little more then rest and tinker. It’s different, but nice.”
Obi-Wan felt a frission of guilt run through him, he had done everything he could, but still Anakin had not had an easy life thus far.
“That is wonderful to hear, though I do miss you dearest.”
Anakin practically beamed at that.
“How have you been, master?”
“I’ve been quite well. Though there is something I wish to discuss with you.”
Anakin looked intrigued.
Obi-Wan decided to just come straight out and say it.
“I have decided to leave the order, as I am expecting.”
Anakin froze, mouth gaping like a fish. Obi-Wan thought he heard Padme scream out “what!” somewhere in the background. He felt his face growing hot as he waited for some kind of response from Anakin. A delicate hand whacked the back of Anakin’s head, jolting the jedi into motion once more.
“Yo-you’re pregnant” Anakin croaked, taking a moment to clear his throat.
“I am, yes.”
“And you’re leaving the order?” Anakin clarified.
“Yes, I am.”
Anakin lapsed into silence once more, Obi-Wan waited patiently, giving him the time, he needed to process this startling information.
“I’m sorry master, I’m just so surprised. Congratulations though, honestly. That is wonderful news.”
Obi-Wan smiled. “Thank you and trust me I know what you mean. It was quite a shock to me as well. I was thinking it may be nice to settle on Naboo.” Obi-Wan continued hesitantly. “Padme has always been such a dear friend and it would be nice to be close to you.”
Obi-Wan wrung his fingers anxiously as Anakin’s eyes turned unbearably soft.
“Great idea, master!” Anakin said enthusiastically and Obi-Wan let out a sigh of relief. “Padme has so many homes all over, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind giving you one.”
“Oh no, Anakin. I couldn’t do anything like that. I have some credits saved, enough to get a small place.”
Padme face popped into sight, nudging Anakin out of the way.
“I absolutely insist, Obi-Wan. Some of these places have been sitting neglected for far too long. It will be wonderful to have Anakin’s family so close.”
Obi-Wan would blame his swirling hormones for the tears that ran down his face at those words.
“W-well if you insist. That would be such a relief” Obi-Wan said tearfully.
“How many will there be?” Padme asked, “just so I know what size place, though I already have a few in mind.”
“There will be three of us.”
“So, the baby’s father will be joining you?” she probed.
Obi-Wan glanced away. “Ah, no, it will be me and my two babies. I’m expecting twins.”
Padme’s eyes widened and Anakin squawked in surprise.
“Who’s the father and why isn’t he coming with you?” Anakin butted in angrily.
“Well, that’s a bit of a story” Obi-Wan said, running his fingers through his hair in embarrassment. When Anakin and Padme said nothing, simply waiting for him to continue, he let out a deep weary sigh and went on.
“You see, a few months ago, when it was announced that the war was over and that the clones would be given autonomy, I was celebrating with some of the men.” If it was possible Obi-Wan looked even more embarrassed. “Well, one thing led to another, and I ended up spending the night with several of them. However, when I woke up the next morning, they were all gone, and nothing was ever said of it again.”
Padme looked sad at that news, while Anakin looked a weird combination of embarrassed and murderous, no doubt it was more than he ever wanted to know about his master’s sex life.
“It-it was clear to me that they weren’t interested in anything more and they are the type of men that would no doubt feel obligated to be there for me if they knew. I do not wish to take away their choices, not when they are finally so close to being allowed to finally have some.”
“So, you haven’t told them?” Padme asked softly.
Obi-Wan shook his head. “I will contact them after I have settled, just to let them know, in case they wish to visit.”
Padme nodded thoughtfully. “I think I know just the place. It is a large home on a beautiful estate. Plenty of space for the twins to run around.”
“That sounds wonderful” Obi-Wan said happily, his mind filling with visions of big open fields and his children playing.
“When should we expect you?”
“I have already notified the council and I will be leaving in a little over two months.”
Padme nodded, while Anakin asked.
“Are you doing OK, though master? This can’t be easy for you.”
“It hasn’t been” Obi-Wan said truthfully. “But I am very happy and wouldn’t change what’s happened.”
“Please stay in contact Obi-Wan and we will see you soon” Padme put in, elbowing Anakin sharply as he opened his mouth to say something else.
“Thank you, dear ones. I will talk to you soon.”
Obi-Wan closed his comm with a sigh of relief, that had gone much better than he was expecting. Now for the next task on his to do list, a visit to Helix. He figured he might as well get it over with now. So, he jumped up and headed straight for the med ward, catching Helix by surprise when he entered.
“Sorry, General, was I expecting you?”
“No, no not at all” Obi-Wan hurried to reassure him. “I was just wondering if you had a moment to talk?”
Obi-Wan could tell Helix was surprised, he never came to med if he could help it, but ever the professional the other just nodded and led him to a private room.
Obi-Wan straightened his clothes nervously, while Helix looked on in slight bemusement. He knew that some of his vod had been concerned for Obi-Wan after his fainting spell, but he hadn’t put to much credence into it, perhaps that had been a mistake.
“I’m pregnant” Obi-Wan blurted out and Helix felt his eyes pop open in surprise, he hadn’t even been aware that his General could get pregnant.
“A med droid told me, and Healer Che confirmed it. She said I would need to speak to you for regular check-ups as we wouldn’t be back to the temple for a while.”
Helix tried not to feel to hurt that their General had not come to him with this.
“If you contact her, she can send you all the information from the tests she performed when we were at the temple recently.”
Helix nodded slowly.
Grabbing a data pad and starting to enter information.
“OK, I can do that. Do you know how far along you are?”
“I’m around 15 weeks.”
Helix started tapping away.
“Stewjoni pregnancies last around eight months but I will need to be resting from around six months.”
Helix tried to keep the surprise from his face as he entered that information. “Is there anything else I need to know before I contact Healer Che for your files?”
“I’m expecting twins, which isn’t unusual for a Stewjoni.”
“Twins, right” Helix said faintly. “If you wouldn’t mind waiting, I will contact healer Che now and see if she can send the information immediately.”
Obi-Wan nodded, so Helix hurried from the room his mind swirling. Their General was pregnant. He stumbled into his office and contacted Healer Che, who could thankfully send everything over that minute. He took some time to read through it before returning to Obi-Wan.
“This all looks pretty good” Helix said as he re-entered the room. It looks like you may need a nutrient supplement, I will supply you with one that you can take just before bed. I would also recommend increasing your water intake as well as eating more leafy green vegetables.”
Obi-Wan nodded, “I have been making a change to my diet since seeing healer Che” and Helix nodded in relief that he was taking his health seriously.
“I can see no mention of the father” Helix continued with a glance down at his data pad. “That information could be important for ascertaining any possible underlying health issues in your children.”
Obi-Wan fidgeted nervously, looking as though he was having an internal battle with himself. He looked up, meeting Helix’s gaze before continuing.
“I’m not positive who the father is” Obi-Wan said. “But I can narrow it down to five troopers.”
Helix’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head, and he could feel a headache building in the base of his skull. The father of Obi-Wan’s children was one of his vod, it must’ve been one hell of a night from the sounds of it, but they obviously weren’t talking as no word of it had reached him.
“Who?”
“Umm, Rex, Cody, Waxer, Boil and Echo.”
Oh my, well that did explain a few things. Mainly why those five had been so protective of Obi-Wan lately.
“Are they aware that you are pregnant?”
Obi-Wan rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
“No. They-they weren’t interested in more then the night we spent together.”
Helix frowned at that, that didn’t sound right. He knew most of the men would give there left arm for a chance to be with Obi-Wan, but he refrained from saying anything. He had the medical files from the five listed and could get any information he needed from that.
Helix handed over a bottle of pills and started to usher Obi-Wan out of the room. “I want you to come back and see me next week, OK?”
Obi-Wan didn’t answer and he glanced at the red head before peering out of the room to see what the problem was, only to find Waxer and Boil standing there staring at Obi-Wan.
“Are you hurt, dear ones?” Obi-Wan asked, hurrying over to the two and running his eyes over them, checking for injuries.
“We’re fine” Waxer said gruffly. “Why are you here?”
“Just needed to pick up a vitamin supplement” which wasn’t technically a lie. “Well, if your fine, I really should get back to work” Obi-Wan said, already hurrying out of the med ward.
Waxer and Boil turned to look at Helix as their General left, identical looks of worry on their faces.
“What was that about?” Boil asked.
Helix turned away, walking towards his own office as he tapped away on the data pad.
“You know I can’t tell you anything” no matter how much he wished he could.
Boil looked ready to argue but a calming hand on his shoulder from Waxer had him closing his mouth.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
“I think we need to talk to Obi-Wan” Boil said, the next evening at dinner. He was sitting at a table with Waxer, Echo Cody and Rex all enjoying their meal and they had once again been discussing Obi-Wan. “This has gone on long enough. Something is going on with Obi-Wan and if we want to know what, our best chance is asking him outright.”
Cody let out a weary sigh, “you’re right.”
Rex nodded in agreement, “Perhaps tomorrow we cou-“
His words were cut off as a siren began to sound. Everyone jumped to their feet racing out of the room as the siren continued. Another ship was approaching.
Obi-Wan was already standing ready, watching the other ships approach. It wasn’t one they recognised.
“We will let them dock” Obi-Wan said decidedly, heading the nudge from the force that was telling him everything was OK. “They don’t appear aggressive.”
Cody looked less than impressed but nodded, moving slightly so he was blocking Obi-Wan from immediate view as the ship docked and two people began to disembark.
“General Skywalker” Rex said in surprise as everyone realised just who was exiting the ship.
“Anakin!” Obi-Wan said happily, hurrying forward to greet the other.
Before he’d gone two steps Anakin’s angry voice echoed through the room, loud in the open space.
“Who was it!” he shouted. “Who dared to touch my master? To treat him like- like a schutta!”
Obi-Wan had rarely seen the young man so angry, which was saying something as he had to live with Anakin through his angsty teenage years. Padme tried to put a soothing hand on his shoulder, but he shrugged it off.
“Anakin” Obi-Wan said urgently, trying to ignore the speculative looks his men were sharing amongst themselves. “It’s OK, dear one. I’m OK. There is no reason to be so upset.”
Anakin rushed forward and pulled Obi-Wan into his arms. “There is!” he said angrily. “They- they left you after having you, got you pregnant and now will have nothing to do with their young. Leaving you to try to do your best on your own!”
Understanding dawned on Obi-Wan as he realised that Anakin was thinking of his own childhood, a father that abandoned him and a mother left to do her best on her own.
He ran a soothing hand down Anakin’s back.
A throat clearing behind him had them separating and turning to find Cody and Rex standing there, looks of confusion on their faces.
“Sir?” Cody said hesitantly, looking his General up and down.
Obi-wan let out a resigned sigh, “I suppose we should talk.”
A little while later found, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme, Cody, Rex, Echo, Waxer and Boil all ensconced in one of the meeting rooms, sipping on tea or caff.
“What is going on, Sir?” Waxer asked in confusion as they all settled down, doing their best to ignore the fierce scowl Anakin was directing at them.
Obi-Wan’s hands shook as he took a sip of his tea, trying to calm himself before explaining.
“Ah, you might remember the night we all spent together several months ago?” Obi-Wan asked, like he genuinely wasn’t sure they would remember the best night of their lives.
“Like we could ever forget” Rex said quietly.
“Well, it seems that I am pregnant with twins as a result of that night… and you are the fathers.” He finished quietly.
No one spoke for several moments and Obi-Wan glanced up to find all five men seemingly lost in thought.
“Now, I know this isn’t what you signed up for with our night together and I know, judging from the fact” his voice quavered for a moment “that you left, that you aren’t interested in anything further, so I just want you to know that there is no pressure whatsoever from me to be involved. You- you are about to have the right to choose what you want to do with your lives, and I would never take that away from you.”
Cody frowned. “You are a complete and utter oblivious idiot, if you think that we would choose anything but you.”
Obi-Wan opened his mouth, then shut it abruptly. He swallowed thickly then leaned into Anakin as the younger man put an arm around his shoulders.
“What?” he whispered.
Boil spoke up now, “we are head over heels in love with you, sir.”
Obi-Wan looked adorably confused, his hand reached up to rub over his swollen stomach and every eye was drawn to the movement. The robes did a good job of hiding it, but now they were aware they couldn’t miss the obvious sign of Obi-Wan’s pregnancy. Of their young growing within him.
“But, you left” Obi-Wan said in confusion and Anakin growled from beside him. “I woke up and you were all gone, the- the bed was cold, like you’d left not long after I’d fallen asleep. When I returned to the ship, you were all there happily eating and didn’t mention anything about our night.”
Echo looked physically pained at the hurt in Obi-Wan’s voice.
“We thought you might be embarrassed, so we decided to leave to spare you. Believe me it’s something that we have fretted over ever since.”
“Trust us, please” Waxer pleaded “we love you; we have spent every moment since we left wishing we could be with you. It’s honestly been a bit pathetic.”
And Obi-Wan couldn’t help but crack a small smile at that, though he still looked unsure.
“You’re just saying that because I’m pregnant and you feel obligated to take care of me.”
Rex had to fight not roll his eyes at that. “Looking after you and our children would be a dream come true. Where you go, we go, whether you were pregnant or not. Though I will admit that the sight of you heavy with our young is, very appealing” his voice turned dark at the end, eyes trailing over Obi-Wan suggestively.
Anakin let out a snarl and slammed his fist down on the table, causing Rex to straighten slightly and shoot him a sheepish look.
“You really want to be with me?”
“We do!” they cried in unison, stunning him into silence.
Eventually Obi-Wan nodded, looking each man in the eye, “OK, I’m willing to give this a try.”
Obi-Wan was scooped out of his chair with a cry of happiness. He found himself surrounded on all sides as he was kissed and hugged all over. Waxer ran his hands reverently over his belly, while Echo leaned down to greet their children. Rex whispered words of love in his ear while Cody set about kissing and nipping at his neck. Boil was very busy pushing his tongue into his mouth, not that Obi-Wan was complaining. He leant into the touch, soaking up every bit of affection that he had been hungering for all these months. “We will never let you go again” Rex whispered possessively and Obi-Wan felt a shiver run down his spine.
Anakin could be heard muttering darkly, “you hurt him again and you’ll regret it.”
None of them were foolish enough to take the threat lightly.
They exited the room to the sound of cheering and lots of teasing from the other men, all of whom were able to work out what was going on from what little they’d heard. His five looked unbearably smug as they held him close.
“Oh Sir, if I’d known you were looking for a man I would’ve volunteered” one called with a laugh.
While another teased, “you sure have your work cut out for you with this lot, sir!”
Raucous laughter followed them down the hall but Obi-Wan just smiled, his whole body alight with happiness while the force sung around him.
