Chapter Text
Prologue
The two rovers were in a lab at JPL. The humans said they were sisters. Twins. They were identical in all but name. They communicated with each other. But then, They put Spirit in a weird triangular prism-ish container. Then the humans separated them. Spirit disappeared. Opportunity did not know where they took her, and could not find her signal. Opportunity missed her. She wondered if they would take her wherever they took Spirit.
A month later, They had put Opportunity in a weird container. It was dark, and she could not open her solar panels. Then she realized something. She was moving. This happened for hours. She was then moved somewhere high. She was scared.
There was a loud boom. She realized she was moving again. She was moving up . Really fast. Then the container decelerated. It moved more slowly now.
She was in that container for what felt like years. But then she realized she was going faster. Then she was going down. Then it was really hot. Like it burned.
Then the falling slowed. But seconds later, she was bouncing. Up and down, up and down, up and down, over and over again. She was surprised she didn't break. Then the bouncing stopped.
