Chapter 1: Clouds

February 1st: Clouds

Chapter Text

“That was a good lunch, baby,” B’Elanna said, looking at her wife with a smile.

“We’ll have to thank my mom when we get back to the house,” Kathryn said with a chuckle as she wiped up Miral’s hands and mouth.

“I’ll make sure I do that then, when we get back,” she said with a chuckle. The Janeway-Torres family had decided to go on a picnic while they were in Bloomington for a vacation. It was a beautiful spring day with the sun shining brightly and big fluffy clouds moving through the sky.

Kathryn looked up and smiled, shifting to lay back on the blanket, “Come lay down with me, sweetheart,” she said to Miral.

“Why?” Miral was in the ‘why’ phase of growing up and wanted to question everything, but she was the daughter of an Admiral with a science mind and a Chief Engineer currently teaching at Starfleet Academy. Miral was curious about everything as she was getting older.

“We’re going to watch the clouds and see if we can spot any shapes,” Kathryn said. “Come here and lay down beside me, I’ll show you what I mean.” Kathryn patted the blanket next to her, and Miral did as she was told, laying next to Kathryn on the blanket.

B’Elanna sat back on her hands, stretching her legs out as she crossed her ankles, observing the loves of her life as Kathryn began to point out shapes and animals in the big fluffy white clouds. B’Elanna couldn’t help but smile as Miral caught on to the task.

“Oh! I see a horse!” She said in an excited voice, her tiny fingers pointing up to the clouds above.

The brunette looked up to see if she could spot the cloud in question, her brow arching a little. She didn’t see a cloud that resembled anything close to a horse, but Kathryn was amazing and humored their daughter. “I see it too,” she said.

B’Elanna smiled as she moved over to kiss her wife’s cheek before laying down to join them in their cloud-viewing adventure.
