Work Text:

“Remus, we have to go!” you shouted as gave your hair a final once over and grabbed your purse. “Remus?” you called again when there was no response from your fiancée. Glancing at your watch, you saw that you were about to be late, so you rushed back to your shared room, hoping to find Remus nearly ready.

Once you walked into the bedroom, you saw he wasn’t lying down, but as you glanced into the attached bathroom, you heard the main door to your bedroom closed. Waiting a few seconds, until you heard the footsteps approach right behind you, you spun around just as your boyfriend shouted ‘boo’, completely with a white bedsheet covering his tall from.

“You make a pretty cute ghost, babe.” you told Remus with a small grin before you pulled the sheet off of him, tousling his hair in the process.

Remus pouted as he glanced at you, trying to determine if you were simply hiding the fact that he had startled you. “You weren’t scared?”

“Sorry, but after everything we’ve been through you think you’re going to scare me with a sheet ghost?” you retorted and pulled him in for a kiss with a laugh. “I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but are you almost ready to go?” you asked, in the sweetest tone possible.

“Do we have to go?” Remus asked for the nth time as he flopped on the bed, a dramatic sigh followed his question.

“I don’t want to go either, but it’s a company party and there’s free food, and we might as well have fun with it, right?” you told him as you climbed on the bed next to him, careful not to wrinkle your outfit.

It was true, you weren’t looking forward to this office party, seeing as they often turned out to be rather dull. Unfortunately, as an intern, straight of of Hogwarts, you felt it would be best to at least go for a little bit to get to know your coworkers a bit better. This wasn’t the endgame of your career, but it was an important stepping stone.

“Besides,” you continued as you traced patterns up and down Remus’ arms. “we can watch everyone else get drunk, then slip out with enough food for when we head to James and Lily’s place.” you coax with a smile.

After a moment of thought, Remus groaned as he sat up. “Alright, fine. You’ve convinced me love, though it definitely has more to do with how much I love, not the lure of watching your coworkers get wasted at an office party.” he informed you as he quickly began to change into a more apprioate outfit.

“Whatever gets you there.” you joked, then fondly watched as Remus ran his hands through his hair a few times to try and tame it before you walked up to him and wrapped your arms around his waist. “Thank you. I hope you know how much I appreciate you.” you whispered sincerely.

He turned around and gently cupped your cheeks in his hands before he voiced his response with a sweet kiss. “I know, darling.” he whispered back, lovingly stroking the apple of your cheek with his hand. “Now let’s go impress your boss and get out of there.” he laughed, and twirled you around and led the way out of your flat.
