Work Text:

Bing bong.

Leon grumbled as the sound echoed through his dorm room, pulling him away from the very nice dream he’d been having about a certain blue-haired popstar. He threw his arm over his head and let out a heavy sigh, debating on whether or not to get up.

Fighting his desire to sink back into his bed, Leon pulled himself into a sitting position. He rubbed his eyes and stood up, the corners of his mouth turned down in a scowl. They weren’t even supposed to be out of their rooms right now! Whoever was waking him up at this god awful hour was going to get a piece of his fucking mind.

Leon grabbed the white jacket he'd thrown over the back of his desk chair, pulling his arms through the sleeves as he made his way over to the door.

However, he didn't get very far, his angry steps faulting at the sight of something white lying on the ground. He took a few steps closer, eyes widening slightly when he realized it was a piece of paper. Someone must have slipped it under his door.

Alarm bells went off in Leon's head as he approached it. He debated with himself for a moment, before carefully bending down to pick it up. He treated the paper as if it were a bomb that could go off at any second, unfolding it at a slow pace. Simple, pretty letters looped across the page.

Come see me in my room tonight! I heard about how you wanted to become a musician and thought I could help out! Check the nameplates to make sure you don't get the wrong room, ok?
~Sayaka

Leon's eyes lit up, the edges of the paper crinkling as his grip tightened around it.

Sayaka Maizono… THE Sayaka Maizono wanted to help him become a musician!?

An excited giggle slipped past Leon’s lips. His face stretched into a grin, as he shoved the paper into his pocket. He grabbed his shoes and hurriedly pulled them on. It took him an extra couple of seconds to tie his laces with how hard his hands were shaking. Finally, Leon jumped to his feet and threw open his door, heading straight for Sayaka’s dorm.

Finally, finally, people were going to take him seriously. People all over the world would know his name, but not because he was the “Ultimate Baseball Pro”.

They’d know him for his music, his real passion.

Leon stopped in front of Sayaka’s room, his heart about to beat out of his chest. He took a few moments to collect himself, not wanting the pop star to see him trembling like a fucking school girl. The baseball player closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths to clear his head. Feeling a little calmer, he slowly opened them back up.

Leon frowned in confusion at the sight before him, not having noticed anything before due to his excitement. The door he was standing in front of had… Makoto’s name on it?

Leon could’ve sworn this was Sayaka’s room. Last night, when they’d all headed off to bed, he made sure to check which one was hers. Maybe he misremembered it?

The baseball player shook his head. He was wasting too much time worrying about stuff that didn’t really matter. Sayaka was waiting for him!

Leon moved one door down, finally at the right place as the pop star’s portrait stared back at him. He took one final breath, ready to ring the bell, when he noticed that the door was slightly ajar.

The baseball player could feel the smile return to his face. Sayaka was so thoughtful, leaving it open for him.

Leon pushed his way into the room, calling out as he did. “Hey Sayaka! I’m here!”

There was no response from inside the room. In fact, there was no sign of the ultimate pop star anywhere.

Leon took a few tentative steps into the room. “Sayaka? You here?”

Maybe she was just in the bathroom?

As he made his way further into the room, Leon glanced around the room. He really expected more decorations, especially from someone as bubbly and bright as Sayaka. The only personal thing in the room was a golden display sword, which struck Leon as odd. He didn’t think that-

The baseball player let out a strangled cry as a knife flew towards his face, missing by only a few inches.

Leon screamed as his brain caught up with what just happened, barely moving out of the way of another strike aimed at his gut. He scrambled backwards, his back slamming into a shelf as Sayaka stood before him. Clenched tightly in her right hand was a knife, her shoulders shuttering with each breath she took.

“Wh-What-! What are you doing!?” Leon cried as she stalked closer to him.

“…Getting out of here.” Sayaka replied through gritted teeth, raising the knife once again.

In a blind panic, Leon felt around behind him. His fingered closed around the golden sword, just barely bringing it up in time to block Sayaka’s swing.

The pop star growled, nothing but fury in her eyes. “Just die already!” She cried out in rage. “I need to get out of here! They’re counting on me!”

Leon used her moment of rage to swing the sword towards her. It normally wouldn’t do much since it was still in the sheath, but he was the ultimate baseball player for a reason. The sword connected with Sayaka’s wrist, a loud crack sounding throughout the room.

Sayaka cried out in pain, her hand spasming as she dropped the knife. She gripped her wrist, eyes widening with tears. All traces of malice were gone from her face.

Now that he was out of immediate danger, Leon could feel anger creeping up his spine. He couldn’t believe that Sayaka was going to kill him! Did she think that he’d be an easy target? A fucking pushover?

Blinded by rage, Leon pulled back the sword with a roar, aiming for the pop star.

Sayaka screamed and ran for the bathroom.

Leon swung, missing her retreating form by an inch. The sword hit the wall with a loud bang, leaving a large dent behind. The baseball player gave chase, slamming into the bathroom door as she locked herself inside. He jiggled the door knob, eliciting a muffled sob from inside.

“Let me in you bitch!” He snarled, using both fists to pound on the wood. “You think you can just fucking attack me and get away with it!? I’ll fucking kill you!”

Leon tried everything he could think of to get inside the bathroom. Pounding on it, attempting to break the knob, throwing shit at it, but it wasn’t giving in. He stepped back, panting heavily, when he was struck with an idea.

All the boys had been given a toolkit! He could simply go get the screwdriver from his room and take apart the knob!

Leon stalked out of the room, a smile on his lips. Finally he’d be able to make that bitch pay. He’d break into the bathroom and-!

and…!

…and…

Leon stopped in the middle of the hallway, his grin faltering.

What… What the fuck was he thinking..?

Leon dropped the sword like it had burned him, stumbling away from it in horror. His hands shook as he bought them up to cover his mouth.

He was going to… Sayaka had tried to…

The baseball player let out a strangled sob as he sank to his knees. Tears leaked from the corners of his eyes, rolling down his cheeks and splattering onto the carpet.

He had wanted to kill Sayaka.

Leon couldn’t go back. He couldn’t go back to that room. He didn’t trust Sayaka not to try anything again… he didn’t trust himself not to try anything again.

The baseball player scrambled over to the nearest door, spamming the doorbell desperately.

It soon opened, revealing the large frame of Sakura. Hovering behind her was Hina, a concerned look on her face.

“Leon?” The martial artist sounded confused. “What-“

“Sayaka tries to kill me!” He gasped, his whole body trembling like a leaf. “In her room! She tried- tried to kill me!”

Sakura’s face hardened. She stepped past him into the hallway. “Stay here. I will wake the others and go investigate. Hina, please watch over him.”

Leon watched as the martial artist turned away and began to knock on people’s doors. One by one, the students began to gather in the hallway, all of them wearing similar looks of confusion and concern.

Hina stepped up behind him, getting Leon’s attention. She reached a hand out towards him. “Leon-?”

“D-Don’t!” The baseball player choked out, flinching away from her. “Don’t come near me-!”

Hina put her hands up in a placating manner. “Sorry! Sorry! I won’t come any closer, ok?”

Leon nodded with a quiet sniffle, hugging his arms to his body.

“Everyone, please quiet down.” Sakura’s voice rose above everyone else’s, quieting their questions and concerns. “Something very serious has occurred. Leon has been attacked by Sayaka.”

A collection of gasps rang out through the crowd.

“Is he dead?!” Hiro exclaimed.

“No you idiot, he’s right over there.” Mondo replied gruffly, jerking a thumb over his shoulder towards where Leon was standing.

Eleven eyes turned to look at him, making the baseball player shrink into himself.

“Wait, then where’s Sayaka!?” Makoto questioned, slight panic in his voice.

“According to Leon, she should still be in-” Sakura began to answer him, when suddenly the door to Sayaka’s room burst open, revealing the pop singer herself.

Sayaka stared at all of them with wide eyes, breathing heavily, before she zeroed in on Leon in the back.

The pop star screamed. “Leon-! Oh god! H-He tried to kill me-!”

Leon froze, his vision going blurry as his eyes filled with tears.

She… She was going to blame it on him..?

Sayaka staggered backwards, raising a hand to point directly at the baseball player. “He tried to kill me-! L-Leon attacked me! He attacked me!”

Leon sank to his knees, his whole body going numb. Chaos broke out around him, everyone arguing about what happened and who was correct, but he could barely register what was being said.

Who would ever believe him over someone like Sayaka..?
