Dragohoho Defeated

Summary:

Just a short adaptation of the scene following the Dragohoho boss fight from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Work Text:

Mario and Luigi bounced into the air with Mario grabbing on to Luigi’s legs. They spun upside-down and as they came down Luigi pushed against the head of Dragohoho with enough force to knock the dragon’s head against the ground while he and his brother bounced back to a safe distance. The two brothers kept their eyes on Dragohoho. They waited for his next attack, but it never came as the monster finally collapsed in exhaustion. At last, the final obstacle standing between the brothers and the Hoohoo Blocks they needed to make hammers was defeated.

Mario spun around and jumped in the air in victory while Luigi just wiped his brow and gave Mario a smile and thumbs up. However, celebrations were cut short as Dragohoho’s body started glowing in a yellow light. The brothers took up defensive positions as they watched the dragon’s body stretch and shrink until it finally reformed into a humanoid shape. Once the glow faded what was left kneeling on the ground was a beanish man with immaculate, blonde hair and an orange and white outfit. The man stood up and brushed himself off, finishing with a flick of his hair that one could swear sparkled in the sun. Mario and Luigi were able to relax as the man gave a friendly chuckle and proclaimed, “Cheers to your mustaches!”

Blablanadon, a pterodactyl who had been blown into the distance by Dragohoho before the battle, finally returned to the summit. Upon seeing the beanish man he exclaimed, “Th-This incredibly dazzling man is none other than Prince Peasley! What happened to you, your majesty?”

Prince Peasley gave another chuckle and flick of his hair before explaining, “Well! I suppose you could call it a bit of an accident. As I was investigating events throughout the country for this top secret mission I’m on I suddenly encountered Cackletta and her vile underling, Fawful, here on this mountain. By the time I realized who the fiends were, it was too late. They transformed me into that beast and shut me inside the egg.” The prince gave another flourish with his hair to finish his statement.

Mario walked up to the prince and extended a hand which Prince Peasley gladly shook. “Well, it’s a good thing we were able to get you out of that bind, prince,” said the plumber, “Luigi and I came to the Beanbean Kingdom because Cackletta stole Princess Peach’s voice. We sure could use some help in getting it back!”

Prince Peasley rested his hand against his face and said, “Is that so? Princess Peach’s voice has been stolen?” He snapped his fingers and a flying pillow landed next to him. He gave another short laugh. “I wouldn’t worry about Princess Peach. I’m quite sure she’ll be fine.” Mario cocked his head upon hearing the confidence in the prince’s words. Peasley boarded his ride and continued, “At any rate, we should chase after Cackletta! I want you to visit Queen Bean in Beanbean Castle once you climb down the mountain. It may be that Cackletta’s next target is in Beanbean Castle! I’d bet my life on it!”

Mario folded his arms as he wondered if the prince was just cocksure, or if he knew more about the situation than he was letting on. He was about to ask Luigi what he thought, but as soon as he looked at his brother it was obvious that his attention was squarely focused on the prince.

“Oh,” laughed Prince Peasley, “Here’s a gift from me. Autographed, of course!” He gently tossed down a yellow rose which Luigi eagerly caught. The prince chuckled at the sight and said, “Yes, I think a rose matches your green perfectly! If you show that rose at Beanbean Castle they’ll permit you to enter!” The prince flicked his hair one last time and stated, “With that, I must get back to my mission! May we meet again!” Prince Peasley flew away on his pillow, but not before making sure to brush his hand along Luigi’s cheek on the way out.

“Well, I’m glad that rose is good for more than him just showing off,” said Mario as the brothers watched the prince disappear down the mountain. He waited for a response and when one did not come he turned his head and saw that Luigi’s face was almost as red as Mario’s cap. Mario laughed to himself and then shook Luigi back to reality. “Come on Luigi, the prince said to meet Queen Bean. We shouldn’t keep her waiting. You have to make a good impression with your boyfriend’s family after all.”

Luigi sputtered, “What, that’s not, I didn’t…” Mario laughed at his brother’s flustered state. Luigi put the rose in his pocket and said, “Yeah, yeah… Hey, weren’t you just saying we should get going. There’s no time for you to be goofy.”

Mario straightened up and gave Luigi a friendly slap on the back as the two brothers prepared for Blablanadon to bring them back to the foot of the mountain.
