“Do we really have to do this?” Pansy asked, she and Neville stood outside Ron and Lavender’s home. They could hear the people inside as the gathering was loud and raucous. Typical Gryffindor dinner party.
It made her distinctly uncomfortable given there would be no booze to salve her nerves. All because Ron was on some sobriety kick with Lavender. Pansy hoped someone brought a flask as Neville found hers and left it at home. No amount of convincing arguments or sexual favours would bend Neville's will. It was actually rather impressive and attractive even if it was a little annoying at the same time.
“Ron is my friend and he invited us to his Games’ Night. It will be fun and Theo will be there.” he assured her, Pansy frowned.
“That doesn’t bring me the comfort you think it does.” she told him.
"Theo is your friend.” Neville said.
“Who is viciously competitive.” Pansy told him. Neville wore an expression of disbelief but he didn’t know all the facets of Theo’s nature.
Given she wasn’t going to escape this event, she had to learn to tolerate Neville’s more annoying friends. She huffed an anxious breath as even her so-called ex-Slytherin ally would be her enemy in there.
“I will protect you, I promise.” Neville deadpanned, but Pansy hoped he held to it as a promise.
“Fine, let’s just get in there and get this over with.” she said she squared her shoulders and straightened her back, hoping to imbue some confidence.
“That’s the spirit.” Neville said, he smiled as he steered her towards the front door.
