Chapter Text

It was a hot summer day, the neighbourhood kids were playing. We enter the heffley resident we’re Rodrick is freaking about something to his band mate bill.

‘WHY DID I DO THAT’ Rodrick screamed as he walked back and forth in the garage. ‘Alright Rodrick, clam down. Bill exclaimed while fixing his guitar. Why are you freaking out?’ Rodrick paused, was he really gonna talk to his band mate about his feeling? Rodrick always thought that was cheesy, but he had to tell someone about what happened last night. ‘So..’ Rodrick started talking. You could tell from his voice that he was nervous. ‘It all happened last night…’

~flash back woooo~

It was 7:09pm on a Friday night, it was dark outside. Rodrick was board, how ever Chris asked him if he could come over and he said yes. So Chris comes over and they both chill on the couch. Rodrick looked at Chris, his long crust hair, his 2 million pimples, his unshaved moustache, it all made him the more handsome (according to Rodrick).

‘I wonder how kissing a boy feels like?’ Chris asked while drinking his slushy. Rodrick looked at him. ‘What if WE kissed’ Chris asked. ‘Why would you ask that?’ Rodrick said. ‘Idk just curious.’ Chris replied.

‘Come here.’ Rodrick said. Soon he realized that Chris was particularity cuddling him on the couch. Was this feeling normal? He thought to himself, he started sweating. Yep this feeling was definitely not normal, wasn’t this the feeling that he was supposed to feel around girls?

Soon, he locked his eyes whit Chris’s eyes, was he really gonna do this? Then he suddenly felt his face getting closer to Chris’s. So many thoughts ran though his head, but he forgot them all when his lips connected to Chris’s. He never felt this feeling before, but he knew it was a good feeling.

Their lips disconnected, neither of them knew how to feel. But they both realized that Greg and Rowley were at the Front door, both flabbergasted. Rodrick quickly got up and ran up to his room.

‘And that’s what happened last night.’ Rodrick exclaimed nervously while he fidgeted whit his fingers. ‘Well first of all your gay. Bill said as he looked at Rodrick. And second of all you like him. it’s obvious!’ ‘Thats stupid.’ Rodrick replied. ‘Love isn’t stupid. Bill replied. Your just in denial.’ ‘Well I guess I do like him, I mean Greg and Rowley already know so what do I gotta hide.’ He said.

‘Ask him out.’ Bill said.

Chapter Text

It was a Sunday in summer, it was very hot out and so everyone was in. You could hear a band practice coming from the Heffley’s house.

‘Rodrick is there something wrong? Chris asked. You’ve been down lately.’ ‘Im fine. Rodrick replied. now leave me alone.’

Silence…

‘If you say so bro.’ Chris replied. Rodrick doesn’t like to talk about his feeling because he wants to keep up whit his ‘confident emo’ reputation. Rodrick always thought about that Friday night, how his brother and his friend saw what happened, it was kinda surprising how Greg didn’t leaked what happened. Anyways, he thought about what bill said about asking him out. He got the courage to ask him out.

(Writers note: WTH SINCERELY ME STARTED PLAYING)

‘Yo bro. Rodrick said. Can I ask you something?’ ‘Sure.’ Chris replied. ‘Wanna go on a date?’ Rodrick asked nervously. ‘Don’t you normally ask a girl on a date? Chris questioned. Also why me?’

…

‘Because of Friday…’ Rodrick said. Chris was speechless, no not because of Rodrick but because of bill, who was eating popcorn in the corner while him and Rodrick talked.

‘Dude that’s kinda gay.’ Chris said. ‘I know.’ Rodrick replied. ‘I mean I guess l’ll go on a date whit you. It’s not like I have anything better to do.’ Chris said. Rodrick suddenly turned red, WHY WOULD HE AGREE TO GO ON A DATE WHIT HIM OF ALL PEOPLE?

‘Gay.’ Bill said in the Connor of the garage while eating a comically large popcorn.

Rodrick was getting ready, he didn’t know how to feel. He didn’t know he if should think about how someone would ask him out on a date or about how he somehow ended up whit one of his homies, well they weren’t official but homies gonna be homies (that totally isn’t gay btw).

Suddenly he bumped into Greg. ‘I know that your gay’ Greg said while running, Rodrick sighed and walked downstairs where Susan was standing.

‘Where you going?’ Susan asked. ‘A date.’ Rodrick replied. ‘Whit who?’ Susan asked while raising her eyebrow.

Chris, the guy he’d known since elementary school. The guy he saw almost every single day. His ‘buddy’, that he loved so much.

‘We’ll go have fun!’ Susan said as she continued to clean the room.

Chapter Text

Rodrick drove his car to Chris’s house in the humid weather. He still didn’t know how to feel about the fact that he was gonna go on a date whit another man, and whit that other man being his band mate it made him even more confused. Why was he feeling like this? Was it love or does he need therapy? It didn’t matter, because he found himself at Chris’s house.

Rodrick slowly step out of his car and walked to Chris’s doorstep. He debated if he should ring the doorbell or wait outside, he just stood there nervously. His heart was beating fast and his hands were so sweaty that it looked like he’d just wore a full winter suit in the middle of summer, Seriously who does that? Anyways the front door suddenly opened, and Rodrick could see the crusty dusty living room and the toilet that was in the middle of the room for some reason. Then he saw Chris right in front of him, he didn’t know how he noticed the toilet in the middle of the living room before noticing Chris.

‘Hi Rodrick’ Chris said. ‘Hello c.’ Rodrick replied. It was awkward, but frankly if bill was there it would be even more awkward. Anyways Chris locks his front door and gets into Rodricks car. Rodrick starts the Engine and he drives out of Chris’s driveway.

They both dictated to go to a rock museum because rocks are cool as Jeff Kinney himself. The museum was downtown so they had to go trough a lot of traffic. Rodrick started getting frustrated because he wanted to get to the museum as soon as possible. He stuck his head out of his window and yelled ‘WHATS THE HOLD UP!?’. Chris told Rodrick to get his head back into the car and to stop yelling. Rodrick was still very frustrated, until he noticed that Chris grabbed his hand whit-out him noticing. Rodrick calmed down and they got to the museum.

They step out of the car and enter the museum, it was empty because people don’t realize how cool rocks are, anyways Rodrick and Chris looked at some cool rocks. The time seemed to fly by, they enjoyed each other’s company.

By this time it was 9pm so they had to go, but yet again there was traffic, Rodrick was just glad to spend time whit Chris. Rodrick had his eyes on the road, witch was not moving, but then he turned his head a little and noticed Chris looking at him, his face turned red and he just went back at looking at the road. Rodrick was sweating, he never felt like this, at this moment it made him realize that, yeah, he was gay. ‘Bro you okay?’ Chris asked whit a concerned face. ‘YEP! TOTALLY FINE!’ Rodrick replied. ‘Rodrick. I know there’s something wrong. So tell me.’ Chris said as he held Rodricks hand. Rodrick took a deep breath, then he explained everything the weird feelings, the butterflies, everything. After Rodrick stop explaining they both stayed silence.

‘I’ve felt the same way. he replied. Rodrick… I love you!’. Rodrick blushed. ‘I love you too.’ Rodrick replied.

They got to Chris house. Rodrick got out of his car and opened the door for Chris and they both walked to Chris’s front door while holding hands. ‘That was fun.’ Chris said. ‘It was!’ Rodrick replied. They got to Chris front door and looked at each other. Rodrick felt Chris face getting closer to his, Rodrick also leaned his head into Chris’s. They kissed, the moment was just so perfect. They pulled away from the kiss, they were now official. Rodrick got back into his car and drives home.

Chapter Text

Rodrick stepped into the cold house, took off his shoes and went to take a shower. After the shower he hopped into bed and turned off his lights, but he couldn’t fall asleep, all he could think about was Chris. It was unusual for Rodrick not to fall asleep in like 2 minutes, but he simply thought about his time whit Chris. Why would this keep him up? He just wanted Chris, but why?

He called up Chris and asked if he wanted to stay over for the night. Chris said yes. Rodrick walked downstairs and waited for Chris. Once Chris arrived they both went into Rodricks room were Chris placed his sleeping bag on the ground. Rodrick sat on this bed, he was just happy that he was whit Chris.

‘I’m always glad to stay over!’ Chris said while he sat down on Rodricks bed. Rodrick stayed silent. ‘You okay Rodrick?. Suddenly Rodrick hugged Chris, he was balling his eyes out, Rodrick didn’t cry that often but he couldn’t keep it in. Chris was shocked at best but he hugged Rodrick back and petted him on the head. ‘I just wanna spend all my time whit you!’ Rodrick said while crying. ‘Yo rod, clam down. Chris said. I’m not leaving anytime soon.’

Rodrick cried until he fell asleep. Chris layed him down on his bed and just sat next to him. He played whit Rodricks hair, then he layed down next to Rodrick and fell asleep.

Chapter Text

It was 9am when Rodrick woke up. he didn’t realize that Chris was holding on to him like a teddy bear, however when he did realize he didn’t move, he didn’t know why he didn’t want to move but he didn’t want to move. Rodrick just layed down until Chris opened his eyes. ‘Good morning.’ Chris said as he got up. Rodrick stayed on the bed, he still didn’t know what to feel.

‘Um Rodrick…’ Chris said. Rodrick gave him a confused look. ‘Your face is red. He replied. You okay?’ Rodrick got up. ‘YEP!’ Replied as he walked into the wall, then he fell. Rodricks forehead was bleeding. ‘OH MY GOD.’ Susan said as she walked in to put clothes away. ‘Susan im fine.’ Rodrick replied as he got up. ‘Rodrick you need to sit down for a bit. L’ll get you an ice pack!’ Susan said as she went upstairs.

Rodrick sat down on his beanbag chair, his face wasn’t red anymore. ‘Yo bro why did you walk into the wall?’ Chris said as he sat on the bed. ‘I have no idea.’ Rodrick replied.

The room went silent. Neither of them knew what to say. It was awkward.

Chris got up and sat next to Rodricks bean bag. ‘I like your room.’ Chris said. ‘Thank you.’ Rodrick replied. Rodrick had come to accept his feelings last night, he realized that he doesn’t need to deny everything. He also realized that Chris also loves him. Rodrick looked at Chris. Chris looked back at Rodrick. They enjoyed the moment.

Susan walks in whit an ice pack. She hands it to Rodrick. ‘Now you be careful.’ Susan said. Rodrick said nothing, he was busy looking at Chris. Susan then leaves.

Chris sits in the same beanbag as Rodrick. Then they kiss, in the coldness of the basement.

Chapter Text

It was a hot summer day. Everyone was outside except the löded diper band, who were participating for their next show. Two of the band members had started dating and the other was a man child who thought he could become a rock star, he never did but he loved making music. Anyways back to Rodrick and Chris, they were dating but not officially boyfriends, they were… ‘homies’… GAY HOMIES!

‘So like, what songs do we practice for the show?’ Bill asked. ‘WHY THE HELL DONT YOU KNOW THIS?’ Rodrick replied. ‘I’m getting old. bill said. My memory is becoming worse.’ ‘Dude your 30. Chris said. Your not that old.’ ‘Oh yeah’ bill replied.

After they finished practising, bill went back home, but Chris stayed, Rodrick had to tell him something apparently. Chris sat in the garage while Rodrick got something from his room. ‘What could he be getting’ he said while fidgeting whit his hands.

Rodrick walked into the garage holding a gift in his hand. He gave it to Chris, Chris opened the gift, it contained a hoodie. ‘I wanted to give you one of my hoodies because that’s what couples do ig?’ Rodrick said. Chris got up and hugged Rodrick. A prefect moment for a perfect gift.

‘Oh yeah this was me trying to ask you to be my boyfriend. Said Rodrick. I didn’t want it to be that cheesy.’ ‘You know you could’ve just asked to be your boyfriend? Chris said. You didn’t have to give me your hoodie.’ ‘Sorry. Rodrick said. Sometimes I can’t express my feelings in words.’ ‘It’s fine. Chris replied. I like the way you are my guy.’

Chapter Text

It was near the end of summer, and all the teenagers were chilling at this party, including 2 boyfriends, Rodrick and Chris. The party was boring, the thing is that the two gays were dragged there by a friend. The party was overwhelming for Rodrick and he started to panic.

Rodrick stayed quiet, not knowing what to do. He was overwhelmed by the amount of noise and flashing lights. He also hated interacting whit people he didn’t know. It was just all overwhelming for him.

Rodrick suddenly ran outside to try to clam down but he couldn’t. He just sat there panicking. He could hear ringing from his ears. He was tried, he just wanted to go home and sleep.

Chris walked out the door to see Rodrick, panicking. Chris immediately knew what was happening. He picked up Rodrick and put him in the car and gave him a plastic bag. Chris got into the car and started driving. He not only knew Rodrick was overwhelmed, but he knew that Rodrick was having a panic attack. He wanted to clam Rodrick down.

They got to Rodricks house, Chris got out, picked up Rodrick and carried him to his bedroom, because he knew that’s were Rodrick would feel the most safe. He wrapped Rodrick in a blanket and sat down next to him, and waited for him to clam down.

Rodrick clammed down, he thanked Chris for understanding that he’s different from other people. Chris kissed Rodrick on the cheek and said, ‘I know that your different! But that’s what that makes you special.’ Rodrick smiled, he liked how Chris understood how autism works, and he liked that Chris did research on the Spectrum so that he could understand and know what to do in situations like the one that just happened.

Rodrick and Chris cuddle until they both fell asleep.

Chapter Text

It was the day before school starts, well, at least for Greg, Rodrick is fresh out of high school and doesn’t have anything to do so he takes his boyfriend on a date to the beach.

Rodricks driving his car whit the iconic loded diper logo poorly written on it. Chris is in the seat next to him. ‘You know, I can see us having a future y’a know?’ Rodrick said while doing a smut face. ‘Maybe we do!’ Chris replied. Rodrick kept the stupid look on his face and Chris just smiled.

They got to the beach and we’re surprised when it was completely empty. I mean it was the end of summer and it was a bit cold but still. Rodrick got out of the car followed by Chris. They both sat down on the sand. The humidity of the air maybe them both realize that this was a terrible idea, but they stayed at the beach.

A short while later it got colder. Chris grabbed a towel and rapped it around himself. ‘Maybe we should leave.’ Chris said. Rodrick agreed. Chris had trouble standing up because being the idiot he is he wore no shoes, not even fricking sandals he was bear foot. So Rodrick picked him up and put him in his car. Rodrick got into his car and started driving.

‘You know Rodrick. Chris said as he looked at Rodrick. You’ve been nicer then any chick I’ve ever dated!’ Rodrick softly smiled. ‘I love you Chris.’ Rodrick said. ‘I love you too.’ Chris replied

Chapter Text

It was December first, which means it’s Christmas soon, and that one teenage was making a very important decision. ‘Is it too soon?’ He asked himself. ‘Maybe I should wait a couple of months!’ Oh I forgot to mention Rodrick was the teenager. Well technically Rodrick is 18 which is still considered a teenager. Anyways Rodrick thought for a long while, but he figured that why not? But he still asked his mom for second opinions.

Rodrick walked into the kitchen ‘Mom I’ve got a question.’ Rodrick said as he sat down. ‘Sure Rodrick what’s on your mind?’ Susan replied. ‘So Christmas is coming up, I have Christmas present ideas for everyone but I’ve got a very special gift for my special someone.’ Rodrick said nervously. ‘Chris. Susan said. You mean Chris.’ Rodrick shook his head. ‘Rodrick. I know you wanna propose. Susan said. And I say you should propose to him.’ Rodrick got up. ‘Thanks for the advice mom.’ Rodrick said. ‘Your welcome’ Susan replied.

Rodrick thought that buying a ring was too cheesy so he just planned out his proposal. He wrote it down and went downstairs we’re he called a family meeting. We’re he explained his plan

‘Why are you explaining this like it’s a Kim possible episode?’ Greg asked. ‘Look I love Kim possible.’ Rodrick replied. ‘We understand your plan Rodrick!’ Susan said. ‘Then we have to wait until Christmas…’

Chapter Text

It was Christmas Day, the snow was falling outside, and kids were happy, now we enter the heffleys house, we’re a very special moment was about to happen.

Manny was opening his last present. Susan was recoding manny opening his gifts. Oh also Chris was there I forgot to say that. anyways after manny finished opening his gift, Susan turned to Rodrick. ‘Don’t you have a gift to give to Chris?’ Susan asked. Rodrick turned his head to Chris. ‘Oh yeah! He said. Chris can you please stand up.’

Chris stood up, confused. Rodrick stood in front of him. ‘Is your present a kiss?’ He asked. ‘No’ Rodrick replied. Rodrick grabbed Chris’s cold hand, then he stood on one knee, he felt the warmth of the living room carpet.

‘Chris. He said. I love you dearly, from your looks to your personality. I like how you accept me as an autistic person, I like how you play your guitar, I like your long hair, I like how your tough but your nice whit the ones you love and I love your beautiful eyes. Since the day we ment in middle school you’ve been my best friend, but I asked you out back in June because of the couch incident, and now you are my boyfriend, but today, I’ve got a very important question.’

‘Chris… will you marry me?’

Chris froze. He didn’t know what to say. Rodrick started to panic. There was silence. But then suddenly Chris yelled ‘YES’ and hugged Rodrick. Susan was still recording this happy moment. Greg made a remark about him being single, but everyone ignored her because it’s Greg.

Rodrick and Chris looked at each other and kissed, I mean, they are now fiancés. Greg took a picture and posted it on his Snapchat, then Rowley started spamming Greg’s dm’s because Rowley is like that. Anyways the couple stopped kissing and they both said

‘I love you!’
